    New Wheels

Count, as per GrannY's post should yours not have 6" all round. 😳 Most people with 180 bhp plus seem to have wider wheels at the back. YMMV. I know someone who has 6" on the back and 230+BHP, but I think they use that to lul thier prey into a false sense of security. I am looking at getting larger rears (presently 6") as I can easily spin mine in lower gears, and fast starts are diffculy due to wheel spin. I sometimes look a spanner spinning the wheels at traffic lights which is very Max Power. Before anyone pipes up I sometime look a spanner at other times, but that is a different story.
  2. I'd be interested in one of these to fit over my 45's. I have a pipercross sausage thing rather than k&N's. Basically I'd want something to make it quiter for "quite" trackdays.
  3. You can either: a) Convert to a Zetec/Duratech/Fireblade - but this will cost a minimum of £3K, probably more. b) Get someone else to do something - expensive. c) Do it yourself, in which case it is mostly parts costs. d) Get a 2nd hand one (ebay) - very risky but bargains to be had. My 2 pence worth is basically you need to sort the exhaust and port the head. Then you need to look at a differnt cam, with vernier duplex gear to run it properly. This will usually mean upgrading the bottom end. 3d Ignitionis a great upgrade, but expense. There is loads of stuff in the archive about specs, and even costs of different bits. Depends on what you want in the end.

    Warming up engine

One hint of warm oil is too look at the oil pressure at idle. When cold it will be quite high. Once warm the oil pressure will drop when the engine is idling.
  6. Ta. Same spec as MOB 1 then! Bargain! Made enquires about a Lotus trimmed child seat. About £300, and a few months lead time. You'll be interested to know that I now have the new exhaust wrap on, bar a one jubliee clip (need a longer one as it is too short). So will probably be up for another test fitting soon! How long can I make small/short jobs take?
  7. Cheap enough to put in your tractors 😬 Can you let us know the A/B numbers?
  8. Mark, Most people seem to go Duratech - I am not sure if the Honda will fit (too tall?). I would not be supprised if caterham either go with Toyota or Ford for thier next engine when their deal with MG ends (soon)

    Dry Sump

Cheeky! One went on ebay for £310quid yesterday. As the sump, tank and pipes are not really lifed (IE they cannot wear out like a pump) these can be got quite cheap 2nd hand providing you look in the right places (formula ford...etc)
  10. Will these fir Oakley Xmen/Juilets?

    Dry Sump

The "kit" will cost arround £250+ second hand. Double new. Fitting is quite easy and I think can be done insitu as the sump can be replaced and oil pump fitted without removing engine. Standard tank does require a "short" passenger footwell (ie no extension), otherwise the tank fowls the exhaust. You might consider a secound hand sump, new pump, custom tank to taste, and pipework to suit. Depending on pump you might want a remote filter housing, and oil cooler. You might find Arrowstar have a bad reputation here..... I'd either DIY or go to Chris Wheeler @sevenworkshop.

Sorry about the spelling. Dave, Car is built, just want something to jack it onto. Greg

    tressel hight

I am planning on making some wooden tressels(sp) for putting the car on. Any suggestions on what height's / design? (With wood!) Ta.
  14. Can you charge these with those cheap solar panel chargers, or is this asking for trouble? Sorry about the thread hijack, but there seem to be some people who know what they are talking about 😬
  15. Graham, Depends on what you Carbs / ignition set up. If you do a RR session and setup the carbs etc ... it is worth doing this on the feul you plan to use. I use SUL+Millers VSL, but will sometimes use UL+Millers VSL (VSL is also an octane booster). NO real idea on value of the above, but my engine would cost a small fortune to replace/repair if it went pete tong, and hence I do the above as an "insurance". The above probably makes no sense! 😳
  16. Did you replace the cam? If you did when you first start it run at 2500rpm until the fan quicks in. I would do gentle running (4000~5000 rpm max) on a mineral oil for 500 miles. Then change the oil for synthetic and cane it!
  17. Aves, Is that for the Brise one? I am pretty sure the small SBD is arround the £200 mark.
  18. Most big power Xflows that I have seen have flat heads. AFAIAA Unleaded seats are bigger, and hence when fitted can only accept smaller valves.
  19. To fit arnies tank you would need a special manifold. Options that I have looked at are: Small / tall SDB tank - not much capacity. Some people suggest you should have 6ltrs, but then do not tell you why..... Is there a formula? Brise Tank - Nice design with good capacity - seem to remeber it was a bit pricy! Is this a start of a bulk buy 😬
  20. Plus you can brag about it! Must be worth it for that alone!
  21. Either syphon or break at the bottom of the tank. Former way the least messy, latter is very messy! Engoy!
  22. BabyB, I think that if this car is in VGC it should command a premium as it is quite "young" for an Xflow. Must have been one of the last made. Sounds like a nice car.
  23. For my Xflow! Any ideas for uk suppliers? I have some old ones to compare, but am considering getting some spares. This is for a rather wild Roger King engine 😬
