  1. Standard fitting on pretty much all other cars is exhaust side but Caterhams it always seems to be induction side
  2. Quoting ECR: I attack that bolt (cap head for me) from the very front of the car with a very long extension bar (make up the length with multiple shorter ones if you haven't got one long enough). The last section is a wobbler bar and ball ended allen key to allow everything to work at an angle. Getting it all into position is a bit of a fiddle (but not too difficult) but loosening/tightening is easy. Good luck & disconnect the battery otherwise the extension bars start glowing 😳
  3. It might be worth £10K in a restored condition. It'll probably cost around 6K to get it there. £8K is stupid as demonstrated by the fact it's hung around
  4. What a bizarre thread - conjecture over whether to use MTL when Phil has been recommending it for 13 years to my knowledge.
  5. Much as it pains me to say it Jon (weird that the usual suspects haven't suggested it), but have you checked the various engine earth straps?
  6. For the record......... This symptom was caused by both tail/brake lights having blown. Replaced them and all is fine. Easiest fix ever
  7. Quoting James-Seven: Can anyone advise why under hard acceleration the rear of the seven snakes from side to side. The car is running on aftermarket wheels(15) and tyres. It is an 1800 super sport with LSD . I have the original 14 inch wheels, if I fit these with decent tyres will this reduce the problem? Is your question actually "why does the car break traction when accelerating hard from a standing start?" If so it may be the tyres. If the car is weaving under hard acceleration once you are moving then I doubt it is the cause unless: A) It's wet B) the tyres are truly diyung ditchfinder, widow maker specials
  8. Quoting Culminator: The wings were painted before I bought the car. Seems starnge that as the car was black, they didnt just leave the wings bare. Point taken regarding stripping the wings back and looks like this is to be avoided. Anyway, the wings aren't bad enough yet to warrant a repaint so I might look at fitting some carbon stone guards but that in itself just doesnt seem right; carbon on carbon I have carbon on painted carbon
  9. Thanks all - some pointers there for this evening
  10. Posted in the (likely vain) hope that someone else has had the exact same issue thus releasing me fro a few hours with a test light/multimeter. S3 HPC. Headlights work fine. Rear lights don't illuminate, nor do brake lights - BUT, pressing the brake pedal lights up the dash lights and side lights. No numb nut " bad earth" suggestions please - I'm looking for something more specific
  11. Quoting Culminator: Are the twin Perspex screens a quick fit like a full aero screen? Agreed, Brooklands look good on a trad car but mine is contemporary. 5 rivnuts each into the scuttle skin
  12. I can do you a deal on an ex JPE carbon dash?
  13. Meteor or the twin caterham Perspex race screens
  14. My VX (230bhp) takes around 3.75 litres in a tall but narrow pace end of footwell tank. Steve Mell has the sameish setup I use the valeo alternator on the exhaust side. PS I have a photo of your old car on my office wall, albeit behind mine and being driven by Mr Gibb at Spa
  15. ZZR or R888 **** to blanket compound
