  1. Don't have the answer but I will be watching the replies you get! JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  2. I've use both on several occassions... Otherthan the drive is longer, I guess DW gets my vote as he will just keep tinkering! JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  3. There is not short cut... you need to take your engine out and strip it down. The only serious reason an engine will vibrate is because something is wrong... the problem is find out what. Chances of it being something within the head are remote, which leave you everything else that reciprocates. Can you isolate the problem as coming from the engine, rather than the transmission? Phone if you want to chat this through with someone - 01444 892127 JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  4. Like those who have already commented... I've had my primaries wrapped for six or seven years now. The important issue, for convenience of clean fitting, is to buy the tape that need to be dampened prior to fitting. This tape can be teased around a corner, which in turn stops the unsightly lumps caused by excesses... as Thomas Rosselle found out last weekend. Because the tape is damp, it needs to be allowed to dry before spraying it with heat paint. However, don't make a shopping trip your first outing in the car, as once the painted wrap has been fitted it will smoke a fair bit for the first few miles and sitting at a set of traffic lights billowing smoke through the bonnet vents will raise a few eyerbrows. 5. Arnie, Their is a company near Three Bridges that play with hydraulics... have look in yellow page - I'm afraid I don't know their name. If you get stuck, give me a shout and I'll try to find out their name from the chap who does my tractors. JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  6. It is perhaps worth mentioning that RiF is now selling Hi-Spec, which members might find an easier route to travel, in terms of resolving any questions/problems. JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  7. At 70mm... I am sitting on the wall. Trevor, could I twist your arm for a few pictures - I could pay you in cooked sausages, as we have just a few left over from Sunday JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  8. Could be interested if 80mm but not if 70mm. Can you confirm size as both are being quoted. JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  9. Gary, I just keep banging at it as quickly as I can... I could not physically return the lever to its original position as quickly as the spring does. JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  10. I only ever have that problem when I pussy-foot around with selection. If I just bang it home, then it works like magic. JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  11. No one else coming to join in this party? I can't believe there isn't someone out there who, like me, thinks the Caterham fixings are a recipe for metal fatigue. JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  12. Before I try to reinvent the wheel - has anyone got fitted the CSR rad/oil cooler to a S3 chassis. If so, how did you get over the problem of retaining the rubber bobbins, with the radiator's mounting holes facing left-to-right, rather than from front-to-back? 14. Sorry Bill, only just had you post pointed out to me... Not that I can be of much help, I fear. I used the shorter bellhousing, on the recommendation of Raceline, in order to bring the engine a little more to the rear of the car - 18mm sticks in my mind. The slave cylinder that they supplied, fitted perfectly to their bellhousing, with bleed nipple poking out of one hole and the clutch hydraulic line coming from the other. However, because of the introduction of their dry sump system (now used by Caterham) I needed to change to their new designed bellhousing, giving greater ground clearance. Here, I simply removed the original slave cylinder and bolted it to the replacement bellhousing, with no fitting problems. Which makes me wonder if perhaps your slave cylinder is the problem. Why not fit the bellhousing to the engine and then you can take a series of measurements from the rear face of the bellhousing to the clutch fingers and the CRB. This would at least establish if you do need a spacer to get the correct position for the CRB and also establish how large the spacer would need to be. Since my bellhousing is shorter than yours, this makes me think that you will need a spacer to move your slave cylinder nearer to the clutch. When I have cut down the length of gearbox shafts on other cars, from memory, I have chopped about 20mm off - could this be the approx length of the spacer you need? Do ring me, if you want to chat this through - I'm out this evening but around all day tomorrow (01444 892127) JH Deliveries by Saffron, the yellow 230bhp Sausage delivery machine
  15. The holes are to give you a bench mark as to where you start drilling the fixing points. Try Screwfix for the stainless steel c/sunk bolts... not too sure if they also do the dome nuts for the "top-side" fitting. When you bolt the screens and mirrors on the stanchion, a useful tip is to Araldite the counter sunk head to the stanchion. Then if you need to remove a mirror, etc. you don't need to take the stanchion off the car to access them. I converted the yellow car about 6 years ago... wonder feeling not having the wind buffeting your hair style *smile*but it does get my beard knotted! I actually sit fairly low in the car (c/fibre seats) and look through the Brooklands, but when it rains I just fold them down and let the water slide off my helmet.
