  1. Marcus, It will fit on your column but you need to mount it using a different boss like this here or one of these here
  2. If I'm going to have to stoop to £60, you had better bid here 😬 😬 Edited by - EFA on 4 Dec 2012 21:02:36
  3. You won the one on ebay??
  4. Did I mention this already?
  5. Overpriced, or do all of you have one of these already???
  6. Does anyone know of a person or company who can build me a replica of this? I can get the metakwork made if necessary, but the leather and stiteching needs to be identical. Its a Monza replica made by (long since disapeared Formula 1 Enterprises of New York). The originals were made by Monza right before he amalgamed with Giampiero Moretti to form the company we now know a Momo. Its not a Momo Prototipo, which is a shame as they can be had for £150. Real Monza wheels ones go for $5000 and have heritage. I'd be disinclined to spend that much, but I want to get something closer than a Prototipo. http://www.the-webbs.com/attachment-8.jpg Here is a real one: http://www.the-webbs.com/wheel.jpg Edited by - efa on 2 Dec 2012 23:32:07
  7. Roger, I think its something internal in the clutch. The only way to tell will be to pull it all apart. Sorry its not better news. Edited by - EFA on 2 Dec 2012 23:27:57
  8. As below, pre drilled for fixed or removable boss. £168 from Caterham and currently out of stock. See here This one is not new, but is immaculate and unmarked. Now on ebay here http://www.the-webbs.com/steering%20wheel2.jpg Edited by - efa on 2 Dec 2012 20:28:34 Edited by - efa on 4 Dec 2012 20:52:57 Edited by - efa on 4 Dec 2012 20:53:26
  9. Roger, what confuses me then is why the release bearing cannot move further away from the clutch if it is not cable bound. Does it feel the same with the cable disconnected?
  10. OK, That all looks OK Roger. Its possible you have an incorrect internal floater - I'm not sure if the parts are generic to the single double and triple plate versions of this clutch. If you are using a VX HPC wet sump bellhousing (or similar), with the car at rest (switched off), can you wiggle the clutch arm to confirm it is loose? If the bearing is in any way causing the clutch to semi release, you will not be able to do this - it will be firm and tight. If its loose, its going to be engine out, flywheel off, check the gap between the cover and outer casing. Should be around .040" if all is OK. I ahve a feeling it will be much lass in your case.... I found the best way to manage these clutches was to collect lots of spares (a la Jecks R500 engine principle) and rebuild the clutches. I had three of the outer casings for the clutch, unmachined, -.020" and -.040" These would add 1500 miles to the life of the clutch for each increment, so suddenly I was getting 5000 miles overall from each clutch (this was mainly road use with seq box) which I could tolerate.
  11. So Roger, Mr Tewson at Superclutch will tell you hydraulic actuation only so this is clearly your problem..... And be assured even a Vauxhall engine does not get near the torque capacity of this clutch which is a massive 600lb/ft! However, in my experience of running the same 5.5" setup on a VX, the issues are deeper than that. The clutch in question uses very high clamping force springs (which have a tendency to snap cables) but these springs have a very narrow range of motion. Using cable actuation reduces the hassle of using these clutches immensely. So ignore Uncle Tony. He knows how to sell hydraulicly actuated release bearings..... And so to diagnosis of your issue.... Have you changed your crankshaft, flywheel or bellhousing? Can you confirm if the clutch is new, Organic or Sintered and if any, which parts are previously used? (and how much) For your release bearing is the front face flat or rounded? Did you assemble the clutch using K nuts on the bots which hold it to the flywheel? Before you refitted the clutch did you measure the thickness of ALL the components? Did you also measure the gap between the clutch cover and the casing ring with it loosely stacked up on the flywheel - before fitting the flywheel to the engine? If you can answer the above, I can assist.
  12. Lots of contrradicting theories on this subject including engaged thread length should be 1.5x the thread diameter. When did you ever see an M10 nut 15mm long?
  13. An SLR cage...... Edited by - efa on 2 Dec 2012 20:17:42
