  1. Yes I can confirm that these are the only 2 carbon only CC/Tillett seats ever made. And effin gorgeous they are too!!
  2. About £800 for the all carbon version. Cheaper versions are being worked on at the mo. Also working on series 3 version too.
  3. Neil Tilletts now do 2 types of carbon sv seats. B1 which is Caterhams choice and the B2, Palmers now prefered choice, which is very similar but a little more laid back and with more headroom around the headrest to allow for a helmet. The B2 in my opinion is the much better looking seat. and weighs under 2.5kilos. Give Tilletts a ring if you need any further info. Hope this is of use.

  5. Matt, If you really are interested, I may be able to ask the guvna if he has any hides at the mo. They are around £30 each if I remember rightly.
  6. Yes, Alcantara is faux pig suede but is, believe it or not, more expensive and not quite as "workable" as the real stuff. As for Scotchguarding it, I would have to be honest and say I simply don't know. I asked the upholsterers and they said that they had never done it so couldn't really advise.

Have you thought about using pig suede instead of alcantara. I reckon it looks and feels a little better and possibly cheaper too.
  8. Efa, maybe you should get your facts correct before making wild accusations about cost cutting etc etc blah blah blah. The fact is, CC specify what they want and we do it. CC have said that given the choice most of their customers prefer the +/-45 weave as opposed to the old regular +/- 90 of CC's old pre preg supplier. I'm not saying for one minute that ditp, activa, rif etc are any worse or any better than the work we do. But for godsake why can't you accept that sometimes not everyone is going to big you up all the time. Just because somebody gives credit to a product which is not yours you seem to have to slag it off. Why? Are you angry about something? And for the record, the costs would be the same whether we were to manufacture our products +/- 45 or +/-90. As we do for many other customers not just CC. It's not a cost cutting measure as you would like to say. We can run the weave either way at no extra cost and no difference in quality. In fact it is easier to run it the traditional way for us. And Airhead you are correct. The component did survive the crash. Although completely trashed, it did stay in one peice. I acctually have the wing in my workshop.

  10. The best thing to use on carbon, we have found, is black pigmented T-cut or similar. when done, finish off with a bit of pledge. Works a treat.
  11. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember stating that Vacuum infusion was totally unlike RTM. In fact it is, as you have kindly pointed out, very similar apart from the resin being drawn into the fibres through vacuum rather than injected. As for the peel-ply, I feel you may have got your wires crossed somewhere along the line. The only peel-ply used by us is for wet lay GRP Kart seats. And there are no vac bags involved in infusion by the way. "Knitted type of non structural fabric." I am assuming you are refering to certain types of flow media used to direct the flow of resin. I'm not going to comment on the lay-up of components but will say that none of the materials used in our products compromise structure or performance in any way. Low viscous resins? Where? Professional composite shops- I reckon Tilletts falls into this category. With over £2million turnover pa in CF products alone, we must be doing something right. But, hey. I'm not going to get into an argument over whats the best, we could be here all night. I feel that each process has it's pro's and con's and after all, I think Toys is probably after a simple answer to a simple question. Toys. I will give you the figures asap
  12. Just for the record, Tilletts do not use RTM on CF components, we use vacuum infusion technology which in fact only uses the amount of resin required by the fibres in the moulding. We have found that the weight is less than that of some pre-preg components and exactly the same as others, give or take a few grammes. But never heavier.
