  1. Jimmy, I've a load of black M4~M8 nuts/washers/bolts email me if you get stuck. Buying small quantities is a rip off, so I brought in bulk.
  2. I've got a selection in the M5~M8 size, From memory small quantities are very expensive so I brought aload. How many do you need?
  3. I'd wait for someelse to confirm, but why not keep your belhousing and just swap the engine (ensuring the ringgear/flywheel are the same)
  4. Peter is the motoral one of the small / light ones ? If so can you remeber where you got it? / How ,much you paid? And if no-one wants it I'll have it!
  5. I've a couple "spare" Pretty good condition and believed to be "true". Greg

    dry sumps

Bit of both. You do add weight with all the bits, but you are not driving a 2nd pump as it replaces the original. You do gain power, not only with less friction from the oil in the sump, but also there is more air "space" for the air to move between cylinders (as each piston strokes). Some people also believe that running the sump with as low pressure as possible (below atmosph.) helps suck excess oil from the head. What this all add's up to I have no idea, but it seems sensible to do if you plan track work on an otherwise expensive engine just from an oil starvation insurance POV, power issues aside.
  7. French purchased (£20 a tub) mobil 1 5w50 (Carefour(sp) hyper Market oil section) Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?

Ben, it seems you have the making of a bulk buy - can you keep me informed. Thanks. Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  9. Hi Gents, Had a bit of success with turps(sp) if you can call it success. Turps and petrol were fine on the paint - it was the knife that did it. Whops! Luckly it is in a rarely seen area (the softtop bay) 😳 Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  10. Don't appologies Dave, thanks for the helpfull hint. Aparently apart from celluose thinners nothing else does much to it once it has cured. Quite amazing stuff! Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  11. EdMcC, you are right we tried most of those last night. Dave, I thought that might damage the paint (plus the shops were shut). In the end we removed it with a knife, turps and remnants with a nylon dishwasher scourer thing. Some damage to paintwork, but this is repairable. Thanks Gents. 12. Hi All, Defering to the colective wisdom that is found here; How do I get this off without damaging the paintwork? Turps, elbow grease and other methods appear ineffective. This is on an Elan (m100). Thanks
  13. 1700 is a popular choice, so would seem a good comprimise. No idea if you'd get 100,000 miles from an Xflow without attention as the cam will be worn due to non-optimal oiling! Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?

Ben, Where is this from? Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  16. Quite a few people have done this. Some people think that it is not such a good idea as the head will get hotter arround the exhaust valves (as the exhaust will be warmer) and also you could damage a silencer as this will be warmer. The argument is that the exhausts radiates heat, and this is reduced when it is wrapped. I wrapped mine upto the point the exit the car, and it does reduce underbonnet temps, and makes it less easy to burn yourself (although still possible) Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  17. The sierra probably uses a pinto, which is not a straigth swap for an Xlfow. Could be wrong tho. You could swap the 4 speed for a 5, but I think you might need to move the gearbox mount (depends on chassis), and have a different driveshaft! Could be wrong on that front too 😳 Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  18. Of the three Xflow Dry sumps I've seen they have all been "adjusted" in this way. Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  19. Rich, Why? Sounds like you like it! Can't because it is expensive to run! Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  20. Mike, Is it just the bag, or tank/holder as well - also who is it made by? Oh and how big? What sort of offers are you expecting? Edited by - greg on 7 Jan 2004 20:00:59
  21. Hi Andy, These are 13" steel wheels painted silver, they are in "good" condition. They fitted my old Live Axle car (Ital) - I now have a dedion. They were fitted to classic live axle caterham, and I think the Scholarship/Graduate Series race cars, but could be wrong on the last point (most people seem to rub alloys). Here is a link to a car fitted with them: http://www.classicmotor.co.uk/caterham.jpg How about £80? (Alloys would nearly cost that for 1 wheel once you count the VAT). Oh and I've got some wheel nuts for them as well somewhere. Greg Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
  22. I've got some steel wellers - 4 or 5 off, would make an excellent set of spares/wets! I'm in Brighton, East Sussex. Make me an offer! Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?

    Fireblade Upgrade?

From what little I know it's about £3K if you do all the work yourself. Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?

Rob, Do you want half? (If still avaliable) I seem to have a large quantity in the shed already! Sig: If it is such a big issue why are the WSCC, Piston Heads, SELOC, BBC, Channel 4 ... not members only?
