  1. With the water hose that goes under the TB's, it might be worth putting an extra layer around the parts where it is contacting a chassis tube or metalwork, I have the same setup and over time the vibrations wore through the water hose! Premier Power used a piece of cut up old water hose and wrapped that around to protect it.
  2. Just had confirmation from Mike@Raceco on pricing, looks like my 980mm x 70mm new centre pipe will be on its way shortly so I can finish repacking! Looking forward to getting it back together and seeing if I can do a day at Bedford.
  3. After speaking to Mike@Raceco it seems that "gauze" is actually a titanium mesh that is spot welded to the inner pipe during manufacturing, apparently it's not cost effective to replace and they just supply a new center pipe with the mesh on. I'm waiting to see how much that will be 😮
  4. Hi Drumster, it was the acousta-fil blanket! I seem to have managed to shred it; I suspect I should have repacked the exhaust a while ago. I've got some new acousta-fil blanket ready to go (that was the plan for this morning), but having seen the gauze missing I need to sort that out first. As an aside, it's quite clear the car has a distinct exhaust pulse about 15cm along from the front of the silencer, there is a purple patch on the outside and that's where most of the packing had been burnt/blown away. (ignore where they are in the picture). Amazingly, even with the packing in this state I still didn't have any noise problems at Donington Park last October.
  5. Bringing this back up, looks like I'm in the same situation with my Raceco exhaust, just dropping this here for reference. I repacked the exhaust with acousta-fil and this is what it looks like after 10K+ miles, including sprints and track days. I've reached out to Mike to get some replacement gauze for the center pipe.
  6. I took my cable apart and all the solder joints look fine at both ends, guessing the cable has broken somewhere, 3 out of the 4 wires weren't giving any continuity. Given my lack of soldering skills (and equipment!) I decided to take the easy route.
  7. Just to close this one off, I ordered a replacement cable from Emerald that arrived yesterday and worked straight away. Glad it was something simple.
  8. Hi Colin, I've got a Raceco exhaust but when I repacked it I used a different material based on a recommendation from Blatchat. I can't remember exactly what it was but came in the form of a blanket so was much easier to repack. Thanks Robert
  9. OK so finally got back to this, after pulling the cable apart it appears I only have continuity on one of the four wires, no idea what has happened as the cable has just been sitting in a box for about 8 years but there we go. Sounds like I need a new cable.
  10. Incredible attention to detail, it's really interesting to read and see how you are getting on. Feels like you could turn this into a guide and publish it once done!
  11. Thanks both, unfortunately it's a different laptop as the one I last used no longer exists. I've reinstalled the drivers using the official FTDI drivers as listed in the Emerald guide, the USB adapter does seem to be working as I can see the COM port in device manager (COM5 listed as a USB serial port) The ECU is on 🙂 I can see the status light on it and it is plugged into the correct port. Baud rates are interesting, struggled to find anything online but some suggestions the K3 prefers 19200 so set the port to that with no luck. I do remember having trouble before but I think it was when I had a different USB-serial adapter, the one I'm using now has always been reliable, admittedly it hasn't been used for a few years. I'll have more of a play tomorrow with different settings, it's getting a bit chilly in the garage tonight!
  12. Hi, for the first time for a few years I needed to connect to the Emerald K3 ECU in my car. I dug out the original USB-Serial adapter (FDTI chipset as recommended), the adapter seems fine but the Emerald software won't connect to the ECU at all. I don't have anything else with a serial connection that I can use to test if it's a laptop/adapter issue or something wrong with the Emerald cable. Any suggestions on next steps? If anyone in the Banbury/Oxfordshire area happens to have an Emerald cable I could borrow that would be great and help eliminate one thing. Thanks Robert
  13. My 1992 1700 Supersprint also had 6x13 minilite style wheels fitted.
  14. Finally got around to sorting out some video from last week, this is from the last session. Not sure what has happened with the speed but it's clearly not right so ignore that.
