Just how much should a S1 elise crash through pot holes? Mine's been serviced relatively by a specialist, and I can't see a damper leaking or anything, but the crashing through pot holes is fairly alarming. I've got nothing to compare it to because I've just bought it. Even my live axle 7 crashed through pot holes less. On other surfaces, though, the Elise is fine. Recent bushes all round. New handling kit from freesryle just fitted. Adjustable height and damping, spherical top mounts. New O21s. Recent Brakes, alternator. Electronic Ignition. Recent £1600 service at Millwood Caterham. Full MOT for 11 months, Tax for 5. Completely and utterly sorted at vast expense. I have been right through the car, and it is very fast, reliable, and potentially competitive, as well as incredible rorty fun. Waxoyled. you won't do better for this sort of money. My rear axle creaks - especially at the point when I stop on a hill (going down) and thenreverse into a parking space going up. Is this ok,or is something on its way out? You definitely want to go for forged pistons - the std ones aren't up to it. You'll end up with far worse than piston rings - I had a piston collapse and gouge out the cylinder lining and trash the block... Old very noisy BRG 1760 x flow, cycle wings and minilites
