  1. Spotted a bright (Kawasaki?) green Seven heading away from Brands as we were heading to the Seven and Classics open day last Saturday. I managed to photograph you as we were going down the road. If you saw us, yes we were the ones in the 1929 Bentley 4.5 Litre Le Mans. A great day out. PB 035 by snapper seven, on Flickr]here Cheers David Edited by - Lotus boy on 28 Aug 2014 20:39:40
  2. Recently cleaned by driver's side red harnesses. I soaked them for a short while in Fairy non-bio hand wash gel and then lightly scrubbed with a nail brush. Really didn't require much effort or time but was very surprised and impressed with the results, especially when comparing to the passenger sides. Hadn't realised they got so grubby. So time to repeat with the other ones now. Cheers David
  3. Can't say I have but then mine is used once a year at MOT time and that's it. Sorry you aren't getting helpful replies right now.
  4. Ha yes Grim, rather naively I did but I was buying a fair few other parts at the time so seemed the easy option and knowing I was gettng the right one. Does running a filter the wrong way not imped flow and effectiveness? I agree it seems that I should fit in the way of the arrow but I am just puzzled that the old Unipart would suggest it went the other way. Edit to add - looking ay Myles's site his looks like there is a hole at the top rather than the metal plate. here Just confused and don't want to fit the wrong way. Thanks David Edited by - Lotus Boy on 29 Jun 2014 20:15:23
  5. I'm replacing my fuel filter so bought a new one from CC, which is a UFI one on the left. It has an arrow on the side which I am guessing denotes the fuel flow direction but...it seems to contradict the way the old one was fitted. Given the feed comes from the pump via the J pipe and then up through the filter to the top hard line I would expect it to be positioned this way up (see photo 1 below) when bolted to the car which would mirror the way the old Unipart was fitted. BUT the internals are different. Looking inside from the top the new UFI one has a metal plate near the threaded hole but on the Unipart the top opening is a deep hole and the metal plate is at the bottom. Looking in the bottom hole of the UFI is like looking in the top hole of the Unipart. Photo 1 - new and old. new showing flow direction Photo 2 - looking in through the top. New UFI has plate near the top whereas the Unipart doesn't. Photo 3 - flipping over the old unipart shows the plate which was at the bottom when fitted to the car Hope I have explained properly and that someone can clarify which way I need to fit it (and can perhaps explain why the two filters are opposites re the internals)? Thanks David Edited by - Lotus boy on 28 Jun 2014 20:34:48
  6. I can't see anything. No piccie. Oh and did you find some suitable split rim 15"'s? Cheers David
  7. Robert, The R clips sit in a little groove in the tube that is attached to the seat pad so that the arm closest to the pad sits within the tube - see pic 2. The rods from the seat that the tube slides over have three notches equally spaced that I believe the R clip arm will nestle in when you slide the pad fore and aft, which as mentioned provides the adjustment settings. So the R clips are fixed and the pad should slide up and down the rod. If your pad won't slide back I can only imagine it is just a bit stuck and needs a little extra force, mine adjust with ease. if you are able to prise the R clips off then that may help you get the pad off to see what might be going on. Pics below to help explain. Let me know if I can be of more help. a seat 1 by snapper seven, on Flickr a seat 3 by snapper seven, on Flickr Cheers David
  8. No problem Robert, will do that tonight. If I remember the rods are notched to provide different adjustment settings but again will confirm what I can later. Cheers David
  9. From what I gather, as noted by others, your seats are working exactly how they should. My front pad slides fore and aft on the rods with a little resistance and ultimately held on by the poppered strap. I thought the resistance was just enough so that the pad stayed in the desired position. I can remove the pad by sliding the seat back as far as possible and then undoing the strap. The pad will then slide off the rods completely. You should just be able to slide it back. Maybe it needs a little lube or extra shove. I've not noticed the R clips but I have one of my seats out of the car right now so will have a look later. Cheers David
  10. Barkalarr, Caterham do sell them. See here But! I would urge you to reconsider. (Inertia belts) being 'useful' is one thing but being the right restraint in the event of an accident is another. When I got my car it only had inertia belts in it and the first thing I did was fit harnesses. I only use my car on the road too but I never felt safe with the inertia belts. I will most likely remove them when I get round to re-skinning the car in a few years time. Don't ditch the harnesses. Cheers David
  11. Andy - got your email thanks. Will sort out payment tonight. Cheers David

    Pedal Stop

I have one of these but as a clutch pedal stop. Had it fitted by Hyperion after my last cable snapped after being stretched too far. My car is a road car, Hyperion said they fitted them to the race cars as a throttle pedal stop for the same reason - to stop over stretching and snapping. Cheers David
  13. Just to update, Ford have changed the part number for their non-LSD oil. It was 1 197 483 but it is now 1 781 300 SAE 90 Hyoid rear axle oil. Cheers David
  14. Quoting andy_h: Hi, Yes if you mean your email with address etc. I replied giving payment details. Thanks, Andy Hi Andy, Nothing came through (not even caught in spam) so I will send another blatmail for you to reply to in case I spelt my email address incorrectly or something. Cheers David
  15. Hi Andy, Did you get the blatmail I sent last week? regards David
  16. Well I am guessing they are 16" as they are listing tyre options for the S7 Competition. here They really do look good, seen a few of these cars now on the Swiss trips and they are a very nice looking piece of kit. Cheers David
  17. What about the wheels on the Kumschick S7 Competition cars? Fredy has one for sale right now so maybe you could ask about availability? See here (hopefully!) here Cheers David
  18. Quoting andy_h: If you are using the Caterham deflectors that uses the standard hinges on the windscreen stansions then they will not foul. I would take a pic to show but I sold my deflectors years ago Thanks Andy. BM on the way! Cheers David
  19. Apologies as I haven't read the whole thread but can you confirm that these brackets will allow use of the wind deflectors, i.e. they won't foul? If so then I will have a pair. Cheers David
  20. Slightly off track but Dave I hope you can kit your car out with the red interior. White with red would look fabulous in my opinion. Good luck Cheers David
  21. On my car it is positioned underneath the windscreen stanchion as can be seen here: http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4149/4972379800_36746e8e40.jpg GNMB105 by snapper seven, on Flickr Cheers David
  22. Hmm well that is embarrassing I looked some time ago and they were out of stock. Looked again today and couldn't find the gold version, so figured they had removed it. Thanks for pointing it out to me classic1952 - I'll call them tomorrow BC still comes up trumps! Cheers David
  23. Hi, Does anyone happen to have the gold version of this sticker, unused, that they would be happy to part with? here Cheers David
  24. OBNS - My 12v socket is fitted into the knee trim panel. It's rigid enough to support the socket. Cheers David
  25. Banner have a four year guarantee too. I had one that died after a couple of years and the motor factors replaced FOC on presentation of the original receipt. One thing to remember when keeping it on conditioner is that it can dry out the cells. It is best to check every so often and top up the water as required so there is a few mm above the plates. Cheers David
