  1. Am looking to buy an HPC and found one that has had a 200bhp upgrade carried out by Haydon Cars (by a guy called Cos Di Martino) back in the late 90's. It has a polished and ported big valve head conversion, QED cams and Verniers (though verniers are not confirmed). Supposedly had solid lifters as part of upgrade but I believe have been recently replaced by hydraulics. Engine is Carb model btw. I spoke to Cos today who said it was a standard package they offered. Does anyone else know of this upgrade? If so, is it reliable and driveable. Apparently all parts used are off the shelf from QED etc. Anyone got any advice on whether it should be a safe bet or not. Appreciate that this is all a bit woolly but any info/advice etc would be helpful. Cheers
  2. Thanks for the reply Pete. Sadly the car was sold before I could get back to the guy. Ho-hum sure there will be another long soon... At least I will know for next time.
  3. Hope no-one minds but can I hijack this thread for some advice? I test drove a Seven recently that is fitted with a Quaiffe 'box and although I didn't find it too loud, it did make a loud droning/whining noise when coasting. As soon as you apply a bit of throttle the noise pretty much disappears. Is this normal or could the noise be related to a problem or something else? Thanks for any advice.
  4. If you are wanting to give a good shine and protection to carbon I would say you wouldn't need a polish but just a good wax. Polish should be used to prep the paint and then protected by an oil based sealant (such as AG Extra Gloss Protection) or a hard wax. One of the best waxes is 'P21S', only avaible in the UK from this company - www.seriousperformance.co.uk, as it is american and not distributed here. It is made from 100% natural carnuba wax so does not leave any white residue. Its very easy to use, great on paint and the results are brilliant. On something like a daily driver tin top you would need to top it up every month or so to ensure good protection and deep shine.
