  1. Hyperion on the Essex/Suffolk border nr Sudbury can carry an MOT out for you.
  2. Bloggsy, Why haven't you thought of a 2.0 VX (HPC)? Was the daddy in it's day...and some say still is! You should be able to get a nice one for £12-13k if you look hard enough. It's the best of both worlds. Lumpy and torquey like a Zetec and probably the most reliable 7 engine ever, most people refer to them as bullet proof, so no head gasket woes like a K nor the heavy fuel (and oil!) consumption of a x/flow. I bought a de Dion 1994 HPC inj two years ago, one owner in fantastic condition for £12.5k. More power and grunt than you will need to start with so no need for lots of immediate power upgrades either. When I was looking I found that there weren't many up for sale in the classifieds etc but as soon as I put a wanted ad out and made some noises quite a few tidy ones came out of the woodwork. Dave
  3. I'm sure you have been looking but...this any good? here
  4. I had mine changed at the beginning of the year (C20XE) after discovering that it had never been changed since new and its a 1994 car I have owned the car for two years, the previous owner who built it wasn't aware that the serviceable item existed. It had reduced itself to hard seaweed that had clearly begun breaking up, when we took it out it disintegrated in our hands. I had a problem with the oil pressure reading on last years Swiss trip and wonder if it was down to some cr4p blocking the pipe. Anyway we flushed the engine through and replaced. I will now change it every year or two. Dave

Near the A12 junction Saturday mid morning going anti clockwise. Very shiny!!! Dave
  6. I figured he may have been spectating as I knew it was some BRSCC event going on, F3's and the like. Haven't a clue to be honest what the difference between a grad and an academy car is, think the guy had an aeroscreen so stabbed at Grad so to speak.
  7. Passed me on the outside lane of the M3..had you been to Thruxton? I was at the Hawk Conservancy up the road in Andover so heard all the noise 😬 Dave
  8. K reg - being driven spiritedly on the Witham to Maldon road Saturday afternoon. Hi! Dave
  9. But wasn't a McLaren F1 sold on e-bay a while back??? or did I dream that...
  10. NO! Not not you Mr Ardley 😬. This one was E reg with white doors and boot cover etc and KN Jupiter wheels. Spotted in Essex nr Earls Colne Tuesday morning. Dave
  11. Ian - get a photo to Dave pronto...you'll have him on his knees begging in seconds 😬 😬
  12. Wile7 - when are you ever going to get an opportunity like this again??? It has your name written all over it and it has the best engine- it's a no brainer!!
  13. I've also got Brooklands screens to go on mine. It seems sensible to put something rubber-like on the underside of the stanchion so that it doesn't mark the scuttle paint. Can anyone recommend anything? Cheers Dave
  14. Mark, I'll take your pair of 048R's if Danny boy doesn't (assuming he has first dibs) Rough idea of price??? Cheers Dave
  15. Phil (Smiffo) enjoying some doors off action in Braintree Hi mate!! ...and blue 7, reg X70 CAT in Tesco car park...dare I ask what that was poking out of your boot 🤔 Dave
  16. Not sure if any way related (as I didn't really hear any noises) but I discovered two weeks ago that my left hand engine mount which supports the alternator had cracked. Hyperion who replaced it said it's not uncommon on VX's as the bracket is trying to do two jobs. Also another friend with an HPC discovered a cracked LH engine mount, only his had broken in two, only being held together by the force of the two parts pressing against each other. A search on BC also brings up a few more cases. Might be worth checking... Edit to add that the new replacement mount incidentally is sustantially beefier compared to the original that was fitted to the car. Edited by - Lotus Boy on 11 Jul 2006 17:27:43
  17. believed to be Guy Ritchie, spotted on A12 heading for Dedham. According to rumours Madge and Guy own a house round that way so not impossible... Edited by - Lotus Boy on 7 Jul 2006 21:28:24
  18. Delbert near Chelmsford this morning. Spotted by a Club member friend in a recovery truck flashing his lights at you...and believe it or not he was on his way to pick up a crashed Seven, the owner wasn't a club member btw Dave
  19. I thought Two Gates wheels had "Two Gates" stamped onto the outward facing section where the spokes meet the rim. Can't see that on the photo of the close up.
  20. Caterham now do the motorsport wheels in silver finish don't they? Might be easier to buy a new set and sell your anthracites?

Jano...use these symbols [ and ] eg test
  22. I have a friend who owns a short cockpit car with an FIA bar, his roof still fits with no problems but it is a snug fit. His weather gear is the early type ("low-viz" if you like) so can't say it would easily fit for sure if you have high viz. Cheers Dave
  23. Bare Ali Mr P!! Jennie doesn't strike me as a polisher! Sorry to hear (read rather) that the Fezza is going ☹️ ps How's yours coming along?
  24. Hi James, Spoke to my friend but I understand he is sorted. Thanks anyway for agreeing to hold. BTTT anyway. Dave
  25. Thanks James, I have sent him a text in the hope that he can pick up. Will let you know asap. Cheers Dave
