  1. Spooky I have just had my clutch cable snap on me. Car is a '94 HPC, 35,000 miles. Cable snapped at the pedal end. I was amazed how much lighter the clutch pedal was after fitting the new cable. Also despite setting the nuts in the same position as the old cable, the new cable came up shorter so the old cable must have really stretched over the years. Have now put a pedal stop on it. Feels so much better too now that the pedal travel isn't so long. Also whilst up at Hyperion today (who did a great job for me on a pedal box mod) I noticed that they fit throttle stops to all the race cars. Dave
  2. Spotted by proxy... R*** CMX coming off the A10 at Hoddesdon this morning.
  3. Ah it was you. I did wonder but it looked too dark to be rubystone...or at least I thought so from where I was standing. Yep I don't think I could have endured the traffic jams in my seven. Dave
  4. Purple(yish I'm sure there is a correct name for it!) 7 sitting on HPC wheels parked at the Silverstone Information Centre near the main entrance. Do you work there?? If so then I expect free tickets next year 😬 Having said that I went today courtesy of ING with two free Luffield A grandstand seats and hospitality...and very nice it was too! Dave
  5. I know, I'm wimping out ☹️ I love to keep them but I know i won't get the most use out of them. 1 month is pathetic isn't it.
  6. OK, these are pending sale with Phillippe. Should the deal not go through then Andrew has first dibs. Dave - these are S type seats, though they are known as 'early' S-type ones. Uber comfortable, much more so I think that the later over cushioned ones and yes they have the velcro'd inserts with the three adjustable lumbar pads. Dave
  7. Doug - you've got 24 hours from now otherwise they are Nifty's. Cheers Dave
  8. Still in their wrapping from Caterham and the poppers are still in the bag! £200 Dave
  9. Time to let them go since I have had them for nearly three years and they have spent a maximum of 1 month on the car! Picture of them can be found here More available on request. It's the fit behind the wiper version and is in good condition. The stanchion isn't perfectly straight but then it is made of quite soft ali. It all fits ok though. The passenger screen has a tiny 5mm x 2mm nick in the top of it but not massively noticeable. It has drilled holes for a SPA centre mirror and side mirror. All holes have been counter sunk from below so the screens and mirrors don't go through the scuttle. Mirrors are not for sale with this. All in all a very nice piece. £200 Cheers Dave
  10. Spotted by proxy at 5.15pm on the A414. Wearing a helmet so presume an aeroscreened car.
  11. If you do some searching you will probably find that CR500's are the best but they are also significantly more expensive than the others you have mentioned. I personally find my 48's a bit too hardcore for the road, too twitchy thanks to the stiff side walls. The 'in' tyre seems to be the R888 and I for one will be switching to them when the time comes.

    Red in Hemel

Spotted on Friday 1st June in the Tesco at Hemel, sporting a half hood.
  13. Ha - good stuff. Since you're in Colchester I expect to see at the next Essex area meet next Thursday week (it's nr Braintree) 😬 Dave
  14. Enjoying a nice ham baguette in the bar in Ipswich town centre and an ali and yellow 7 trundles by Hellooo! Dave
  15. Who hoo my first spotted! At least I think so...pretty sure that was me. All revealed here Dave
  16. Sure you wouldn't prefer... this yip yip!
  17. For future reference (should any other plonker decide to let the battery go completely flat over winter !), it would appear more than likely that the ECU lost its memory and needed to reset itself. Have been out for my first full run and everything is ok. Obviously just needed a bit of time. Annoying thing is I do have an Optimate...next time I will actually use the damn thing! 😬 Dave
  18. Should add that it seems to run smoothly enough and rev freely when I blip the throttle. After starting a second time it now sits at 1600rpm. Edit to add that car has been sitting since beginning of November with the exception of the brief start in Jan and the battery has been dead most of the time - could the ECU have lost its settings? Is there a way to reset the BOSCH ones if that is the problem? Steve - Will give your advice a try, thanks for the chat, good to catch up! Edited by - Lotus Boy on 31 Mar 2007 15:56:17
  19. Just started my car up for the first time since Jan (and even that was just to move across driveway) and it started by idling at about 2200rpm, then it started revving every 1-2 seconds very rhythmically between 1600rpm and 2200rpm. Just constant vroom vroom vroom. It is doing this all by itself - I'm not even in the car. Car is a '94 VX inj. Any ideas? Thanks Dave
  20. Pretty sure Mark Piper has had his done there. I plan on having mine done too in the next couple months after their race car prep work dies down - they are very busy at the moment. I popped in on the way home tonight (I live 2 miles away from them!) and saw their calendar...more testing than you can shake a stick at right now! They are good guys and have plenty of confidence in them. Dave
  21. ptpt - are you the guy I spotted in Halstead? I started using Hyperion last year, car is going in next month for service (and maybe a flat floor set up) but be warned, they are very busy at the moment with race car preps. That said, over the last year they have been pushing the 'road' customer services and are offering more services to non race customers. They had an open day last spring for this very purpose and was suitably impressed by what they can offer. Really nice bunch of people, very knowledgeable and I know my car is in safe hands. If you mention you are a club member you may be able to get some discount too. Must stress that although I am local to them I have no connection with them - just want to pass on the good word. Dave
  22. On Friday passing the Chiltern Aston Martin dealers in Bovingdon. Nice day for a blat...must get mine out of the garage
  23. Yup I saw you too coming through Halstead! Wondered if you had been to Hyperion or something like that. Nice ride and yes there are some very nice roads up this way! Cheers Dave
