  1. Hi Ian, Yes they did come off of a Caterham. if you have standard brakes then they will fit. Cheers Dave
  2. I'm selling a set of 4 Superlite wheels, the two fronts are 6x13 and the rears are 7x13 Please note that these are not suitable for cars with big brake upgrades, they certainly don’t clear Caterham’s AP racing big brake upgrade. I’m sorry but I don’t know the ET offset, it doesn’t appear to be stamped on the wheels anywhere. They are in good condition with no damage or kerbing though one of the rear wheels has an inch long scratch on the rim which can be seen in the photos Fronts here Rear here All here. Currently they are fitted with Yokohama A021R, all 185/70R13 with a couple of mm tread left on them. Looking for £160. Cheers Dave Edit to say they are for collection only but I can get them to Ipswich or the High Wycombe area too. Cheers. Edited by - Lotus Boy on 30 Mar 2008 18:31:03
  3. Bob - Just as I thought. A letter to Samco to alert them of their error is in order I think! Aves - First off I had better state that the J-pipe is red rather than the standard blue. I had the set specially made as such. Was going to get some sort of refund but if you still want it then I am sure I will be happy to sell to you if surplus to my requirements and agreeing a price. I'll come back to you. Cheers Dave
  4. Received my Samco hose kit - Inj specific kit and am a bit confused as it includes a J-pipe. The Inj models have a metal J- pipe. Any ideas or have Samco got it wrong?
  5. Sorry if you already know this but your best bet is probably Revolution 5 spokes. Fairly popular on Sevens and lookalikes. Might help you narrow your search if looking on e-bay etc? Good luck, Cheers Dave
  6. I have a gear ratio calculator somewhere on my home oc - can't recall right now what it is called but if you search the forums for BGH gearboxes it may crop up as will have definitely been discussed. Are you getting a kit or second hand? If kit build and have ordered 15"s then you will have the larger cycle wings I guess. If you are only going to stick with 13"s you may want to fit the smaller cycle wings from the start. Dave
  7. Cheers BOSS - will measure tomorrow and let you know. You know the one I mean don't you, it's not a normal nut as such, but more cylindrical and thinner walled (sorry if I am teaching you to suck eggs but just wanting to make sure I am explaining myself better) Thanks Dave
  8. Having one of those frustrating days! Thought I'd fit the new 'Super Brilliance', or whatever they are, bulbs today. First one went ok then when undoing the screw to release the front chrome surround on the second light, the nut made a break for it and now I can't find it...at all...anywhere!!! *mad* So hacked off as I had also fitted the alternator this morning too and was going to go for my first run of the year! Does anyone have one of these tiny nuts spare? If not where can I get one - CC I suppose? Edit to add this is for a pre 2003 headlight. Thanks David Edited by - Lotus Boy on 1 Mar 2008 15:34:08
  9. My personal preference is to put a dirty car away in the garage dry rather than a clean one wet and wait for a day where I can wash it and dry it properly. A clean but wet car will stay damp in these weathers unless you have a carcoon, garage-dry system or dehumidifier fitted and will react more quickly with the salt I believe than if left dry. Just my unscientific opinion based on what I have read etc Dave Edited by - Lotus Boy on 18 Feb 2008 12:50:57
  10. I too have been thinking about brake pads recently. My car has the AP Racing 4 pot big brakes on the front and std rears. I noticed on the CC site these pads here - what brake pads are these? CC seem to make quite a point that these are only to be used if you have 4 pot fronts. Dave Edited by - Lotus Boy on 17 Feb 2008 13:30:02
  11. Ha, brilliant! Well remembered!! I sold my Saab (still regretting) back in 04 and bought myself a VX HPC...and loving every minute. So you got yourself a Seven then eh? Which model? Had it long? I'll have to pop up your way some day soon and we must go for a blat! I recall the roads round your way were superb. Cheers Dave
  12. Stuart, Don't suppose you used to own silver Mk1 Elise and a Saab 9000 Carlsson? Dave
  13. Rich, This should help here If you scroll down a bit there is a calculator that allows you to identify the differences between two wheel/tyre combos. Dave

    Battery

Would've cost me £20 in time, hassle and petrol etc to have to collect it from Caterham, whereas I picked mine up from a place that is 5 mins from work. Good price though!! Dave

    Battery

There are a few alternative options and as SM25T says there is plenty if you search the forums however the price of batteries has gone up quite a bit I'm afraid due to the cost of lead. I had to replace my Banner battery (you need no: 53034) last november and it cost £81. You can get cheaper - somewhere in Bedfordshire quoted less than £60 but they would've had to ship dry etc and I couldn't be bothered since I was able to get mine local all ready to go. Dave
  16. Thanks Gambo - these are the samco ones. Interestingly Samco state £122.40RRP and DT says £122.40 + VAT.
  17. Noticed a couple of my hoses are showing signs of cracking at the ends by the jubilee clips. I'm sure it's nothing too serious at this stage but it's an excuse to upgrade and buy shiny new stuff for the car, so... My HPC is the injection model and speaking to CC they don't do a kit for the VX Inj though I can buy a couple of hoses common to the carb model separately and the guy I spoke to reckons the other pipes are made up of modified pipes from x-flow models, can anyone confirm this and is it easy to do? Also I notice that Samco have a set specifically for the inj model comprising of 4 hoses at £122 - has anyone used this set and are they correct for the car? Cheers Dave Edited by - Lotus Boy on 17 Mar 2008 19:27:40
  18. For future reference in case anyone has the same query - it just pulls off. I squirted a bit of wd-40 type lube on it and off it came...eventually! Dave
  19. Numpty question - how does the electrical pin plug come off the back? Does it just pull off or is there a clip you have to free to release it? Just don't want to pull on it too hard and break something. Thanks Dave Edited by - Lotus Boy on 10 Feb 2008 14:34:51
  20. I think you should get the nice LED one here Reg, it'd look a treat on your car here Dave Oh and make sure you and ric leave that field in France clean and tidy for when I visit a month later to watch the proper racing 😬
  21. But Willans are better You didn't think was going to be straight forward...did you? 😬 See here Dave
  22. Yes I would make sure you really want inertia belts before fitting them. When I bought my car (2nd hand) it only had inertia belts and I hated it, felt really insecure (like you would fall out) and never felt safe and comfortable. They are still fitted to the car but since putting the Willans harnesses in 3 years ago I have never used them. Inertia reel belts and Caterhams just dont really go. Dave
