  1. bargain bargain bargain - i'm not buying, but this is a great price ! Have a BTT on me Now sold...C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer :-(
  2. Guys - I upgraded to the Powerspeed 4-2-1 from the Caterham R500 4-1 (outside skin) system. I had a HUGE drop in mid-range torque with the R500 system which the Powerspeed system removed entirely. The difference was about 5ft/lbs increase across the entire rev range, with a 15ft/lbs increase between 4000 to 6500 rpm. Interestingly I had been running with a cat by-pass on the R500 system, but went with a built in cat on the Powerspeed system. This only cost me 3bhp at 8750rpm (still put out 187bhp but I had that huge uplift in torque) Not sure you'd see the same results going from a SLR exhaust though??? My problem was I was running a DVA K05 1.6, and the R500 pipe was basically too fat. On a 1.8 it would have been less of an issue... Now sold...C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer :-(
  3. Thanks Andy - got 'em... I'm going to have to pass on this as the missus has decided an A6 Avant is too big for her now (having sat in one at Tonbridge Audi this morning ) Good luck on the sale - seems cracking value to me. That's a whole lotta car for less than Ford Fiesta money! Now sold...C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer :-(

    Jersey

I was on my hols in sunny Jersey the last 2 weeks - spotted a Green with yellow noseband and stripe in St Helier and a nice looking x-flow driving past Le Rocque beach...... oh how I miss mine!! ☹️ Now sold...C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer :-(
  7. .... heading towards Tonbridge Wells, driven by a young blonde lady with Rayban Aviator shades no less... I passed you in the Porsche heading east... Now sold...C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer :-(
  8. I did exactly the same as Geoff with my 1.6ss DVA'd K05 - 6 speed with modified diff is the way to go - you will never find yourself in the wrong gear, and the 6th ratio is fine on long journeys (I did 2500 miles in 4 days in mine). In a SS the 5-speed box is a pig, the ratios are too wide IMHO. It's probably fine however in a more tourq'ey engine... Now sold...C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer :-(
  9. Come on Paul.... sod the sunday morning blats, when are you going to track it???? - it's what they're built for (that goes for you too Steve!!) 😬 C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer!!!here
  10. Paul - Have a look at DVA's website here and go to K05. You will need to add around £850 to this cost for a decent exhaust (powerspeed etc) and c£300 for a custom remap on a RR (Emerald or Track N Road). It can be done on the cheap, but to get the most our of the conversion you should include verniers and an airbox plus a few more hundred quid for forged pistons (which I am sure DVA himself would recommend to make the engine bullet proof). All this lot should result in anything from 190-205bhp in a 1.8k I think and you should squeeze in below £5k in total cost. This is the setup I have on my 1.6, which was recently remapped to 187.9bhp at a pretty safe 8200rpm. I could have got more power if I'd upped the rev limit and fitted an exhaust without a cat built in, but in the end I wanted a safe, reliable and hassle-free engine.... 190bhp in a 1.6 is a thing of beauty 😬 C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer!!!here Edited by - Richyd on 2 Mar 2009 11:27:06
  11. Alex - I have the same on 2 of my tyres, which are the same as yours on the same wheels (which are not damaged or flaking). I noticed one day when the tyres were wet and I had just parked up in the garage that I could actually see bubbles forming in the water on the tyre tread. Turns out there are a few microscopic holes in the tyre's which is why they deflate. I was actually a little releaved as I thought I had a porous alloy - turns out I have porous tyres!!! Anyhoo - as all 4 tyres are well worn, I was going to leave it until they need replacing before doing anything about it. I think a can of tyre goo will solve the problem, but I am happy just to check tyre pressures before I take the car out... Rich C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer!!!here
  12. another for Dave from Powerspeed - he had no probs developing a bespoke system for me (well actually just a small variation on his normal Caterham k system) just left the car with him for a week and the system was built and fitted in 7 days. He also had a Delorien there that was having a bespoke system fitted, plus a 996 Carrera having a de-cat system built... and I know he's developed the odd Ferrari system as well.....He seemed a true expert at all things exhaust. 13. Skydragon - I had a Powerspeed 4-2-1 system (incl built in cat) built by Dave a few months ago to replace my cc R500 4-1 with cat by-pass system. My car is a DVA 1.6 KO5 producing around 190bhp.... FYI my car was set up by Steve at tracknRoad on Friday to get the emerald properly mapped for the new zorst....The results are amazing - I have a full 15-17ft/lbs improvement in torque from 3000 - 4500 rpm and 5000 - 7000 rpm and a full 20bhp increase across 5000 - 7000 rpm. Max power dropped by a huge 1bhp at 8300 rpm (remember I am now running with a cat so this tiny drop is very impressive, plus this was with boggo unleaded and my prior mapping was with super-plus unleaded). Dave's system is brilliant, very well made and at last my engine is now producing what is should... You won't regret it.... 😬 C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer!!!here Edited by - Richyd on 21 Jan 2009 22:26:05
  14. When I bought my Seven a few years ago it had a new set of Caterham multispoke 15" wheels running CR500's. One thing that annoyed me a little was that the cycle wings seemed to sit about 2 inches too high over the tyre, and were also just a tiny bit too narrow for the tyre (the car originally had 14" minilites on rock-hard Avons). Therefore whilst it was at the factory for a service I asked CC to fit different wing stays to enable the cycle wings to fit the tyre a little more snuggly. This was done, and all is just fine. What I wondered was what size wing stays do I have - the invoice said "wingstays - race" and the car looks like a stock R400 with 15"'ers. I have seen a pair of carbon wings which are a good price and they are described as R400 wings, however the parts number indicates they are wings for 13/14" wheels - so what size of wings do I need for my car??? Also, If I swapped to 13" wheels on CR500's, would I need to change wings and wingstays again??? (ie is the rolling circumferance of a 13" wheel with CR500's larger than that of a 15" wheel on CR500????) C7 DVA - It's a 1.6 187bhp screamer!!!here
  15. Just a general question really.... I know that loads of Sevens out there have their wheel carriers cut off and the number plate and bulb holder fitted a-la-superlight styley... but what to do with that pesky hole that's right in the middle of the rear panel??? I've seen some options, such at fitting a badge or a sticker over the top, or even fitting the numberplate bulb from this hole, but has anyone tried glueing a disk of aluminium over the hole from the inside, then skimming the hole from the outside with panel filler and getting TSK to re-paint the panel??? - seems to me this could be a cheap way of achieving the same look as a full re-panel from Arch?? (i am assuming that the number plate would cover the small stubs left from the chopped off wheel carrier???) any comments/observations as to why this might not work??
