  1. I have just received a new damper from Caterham which is stamped as M4. I had requested an M0 as that is what I have on the other corner - obviously question but is M4 different to M0? Thanks Chris

Garybee, YHBM Grenpayne, would also be interested in contact details if you have them? Thanks Chris

    Dampers

I have a leaking front damper so need 1 (or 2) to replace it (the pair). My car is a 1996 1600SS Imperial chassis with widetrack If anyone who has maybe upgraded and have a good pair going a begging then I would be very interested! Thanks Chris
  4. I've just had my seven MOT'ed and it failed with a leaking front damper. Do I need to replace both sides when I replace the leaking one (the other is showing no signs of problems - I replaced both only 7 years ago so am somewhat surprised that one has sprung a leak already!) Second problem is that I understand that Caterham may be out of stock of the Bilsteins at the moment (according to Redline who tried to get some last week from them) but I've not managed to actually get hold of Caterham Parts yet. Does anyone know if I have any other options so that I can get the car back on the road asap? Car is a 1996 1600SS with widetrack. Thanks Chris
  5. Duck tape is the answer to many things!
  6. Its a powervamp battery rather than an banner and I've found it holds it charge pretty well but point taken on the amount of power it needs to start the car. It had been disconnected while laid up also - nevertheless I've charged it up and the optimate says its good to go. Not going to get to the car again now for a few days but we will see when I do. Dave, I always drape some plastic over the engine if leaving it outside for a while as I've fallen fowl for the water in the spark plug holes before so fingers crossed I'll be alright on that one. Fingers crossed!
  7. Don't think its fuel as the starter didn't even engage - even if the fuel was off I would still hear it turn over under the starter
  8. Don't know as I didn't have a voltmeter with me - I only went with a small box of tools and so was pretty limited to what I could do/check whilst I was there.
  9. My seven has been laid up for 8 months in my parent's drive as we've had the builders in but when I went to it today to try to get it going again it decided to not play ball. Its a 1600k I've got power, I can hear the fuel pump prime and lights etc all come on fine. Symptons are like the K-click - I have the starter relay mod and so tried switching relays after which the starter momentarily engaged but then went back to the relay clicking again that was it. I've taken the battery away and put it on the optimate in case there isn't enough juice in it but wondering if anyone has any bright ideas as to any obvious things to try? Disappointed from Epsom! Chris
  10. Sorry to see this! (I've been considering the same for a while as we too are having works done - hanging on for now at least!) Lovely car - Have a BTTT on me!

  12. If it happens on two different sets of wheels its unlikely to be wheel balancing surely? First thing I would check is wheel bearings and check all joints/bolts on the steering.
  13. Simon, I have a hood that has been gathering dust for a couple of years. Comes off an S3 with single diagonal FIA bar. The previous owner cut the tube off the front that sits against the windscreen and stops the ingress of water from where the poppers go (does that make sense? ). I did a DIY repair with some toweling and this seemed to work fine but obviously not like new. Blatmail me if you are interested. (won't be offended if something better comes along!) Also have hood sticks and hood bag if of any use. Chris
