  1. Weren't the rolled edge the later design. Not 100% sure as to reason why but believe it was to make them stronger (against kerbing maybe?) Cheer David

    Rain covers

I have a SBFS trackday.touring cover and they are very good. I also have one of the shower caps (from heaven7soon's bulk buy) which are equally good. I've trailered my car once - in the pouring rain - and didn't use a cover. I have heard a fair few people say it is not wise to put a cover on when trailering as the cover will flap about and could damage/burn the paint, likewise, grit and all sorts can get stuck between the cover and the bodywork and wouldn't do much good. I'd say fit a tonneau cover if you have one to cover the interior otherwise don't use one if trailering. Cheers David
  3. I've just bought one of these here for when I drive doors off. I didn't buy from this supplier but they are very nice quality. It clamps onto the leading edge of the stanchion. Must admit I haven't fitted mine to the car yet (literally only just it in the post the other day) but got the idea from seeing one on a Lotus Seven at a car meet a couple of weeks back. Beauty is it could also be your standard mirror if you wanted, not just when you take the doors off - though I have spa mirrors on my doors currently. 4. For those who have converted to cycle wings, do you have a pair of clamshell wing stays going spare? Looking out for a pair for a friend. See here Cheers David
  5. Ah that is what the noise was. Didn't get a chance to poke my head out of the window to see. What I did see however was the Lancaster and Hurricane fly right over our house yesterday. 15 mins later they were on tv flying over the Queen's house. A very impressive sight and sound. Cheers David
  6. Thanks for the nod Toby, already spoken to Simon but he has a very nice 300 f4 hiding away in his collection preventing the need for another long prime. Cheers David
  7. Simon - YHM. Cheers David
  8. Don't know why but I seem to be having all sorts of problems with getting pictures to show. You can click on the image above to see the photo on the flickr site. Cheers David
  9. Does this help Phil? here Ask for Matthew Potter at Think Automotive. Also mention the club to get a discount. Cheers David

  11. Just thought I would offer here before it goes on fleabay. I am selling my Lowepro Vertex AW 200 back pack. Only used a few times as I got it to carry my 400mm 5.6L and 70-200 2.8L but hardly used the 400 and it's going now so no longer need this bag. The 400 5.6L is still for sale by the way - link here The bag is an amazing piece of kit. You can fit so much into it...more details here here. It's in near new condition with no marks and the rain cover hasn't been used. Looking for £80 plus P&P (not looked into p&p yet). 12. Keith, You may find this thread, and the link within it, useful. here Cheers David Oh and don't forget a decent set of earplugs! Edited by - Lotus Boy on 15 May 2012 12:49:22
  13. Keith, I have a full screen but also enjoy the doors off experience. I'm not brave enough to have aeroscreens though that said have passengered in a few aero'd cars and it is a much nicer experience in respect of buffetting. I have wind deflectors but they don't really do anything. Some people have had success by bending the bottom of them forcing the deflector to sit out more into the wind IYSWIM, though I have not tried this yet. My preferred approach at present for full screen/doors off is the two-buff and wileys set up. One buff tied over my head like a bandana and the other around my neck pulled over my mouth and nose. Stops my hair being ripped about and means I can breathe much more easily. Cheers David
  14. Presume you are referring to the low flying ad? I am pretty sure they are 6.5. Cheers David
  15. EDIT I should keep out of techtalk! Now realise your problem is different to what I have typed below. I don't run a rear ARB so was never an issue. Sorry. /EDIT Is this what some people refer to as the 'ears'? As shown in the bottom picture of this page here I have a 1994 car and when I fitted wider wheels the inner rim section fouled these ears so to get clearance I ground off some of the metal. I think when Caterham started offering the 8.5" rear rims on the SLR they made the ears slightly shorter to give clearance, so if you have a newer car this shouldn't be a problem. if you have an older car, not sure what sort of time period but somewhere around the late 90's or earlier (sure someone might have a better idea), you might need to get grinding and then just tidy up with some hammerite. HTH Cheers David Edited by - Lotus Boy on 29 Feb 2012 13:17:39
  16. Gary - YHM back. Cheers David
  17. I am selling my Canon 400mm 5.6L lens. A great lens for motorsport or wildlilfe photography. A much better lens in many people's opinion than the 100-400mm. It is a 2008 lens but has seen very little use to the point where it is still absolutely mint and like brand new. It comes complete with the carry case, box, warranty cards, even the original lens packaging. Some technical information can be found here £775 plus £25 RMSD Pictures below. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7199/6932408303_76b293d0a4_b.jpg Canon 07 by snapper seven, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7060/6932408855_3480f7cae0_b.jpg Canon 02 by snapper seven, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7063/6786291458_815a32e403_b.jpg Canon 03 by snapper seven, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7204/6932408011_b57849b417_b.jpg Canon 05 by snapper seven, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7063/6786291758_7cd62a563e_b.jpg Canon 06 by snapper seven, on Flickr Cheers David Edited by - lotus boy on 26 Feb 2012 21:24:21
  18. Spotted a red Seven with anthracite wheels parked up (doors 'open') outside the Deal of Kelvedon (used to be MG Rover dealers) car garage. Spotted you from the train on my way to sunny London. Cheers David

    The shadows are all wrong.
  20. Yes my blade snapped too. I think mine happened at Dunton where they have banked corners. Mine snapped at the point where the blade changes thickness at the thin end ogf the radiused section. The arb is about 10 years old as I understand it. Replacement from Gary was about £70. Are they still obtainable? Cheers David

  22. Was it blue? I thought it was more light purpley? Yep real shame he didn't stop though. Surely he couldn't have missed us all including a bright orange Gallardo and a yellow Miura on the road! Cheers David
  23. Interesting one. I've never measured a diameter to discover that. I'm no tyre/wheel expert but I wonder if the diameter is reflecting the 'bead' diameter of the tyre that would fit it. That is to say, if you measure the width of a wheel it is the distance between the sections where the tyre bead would sit on the wheel, NOT outer lip to lip - so I wonder if it the same for the diameter value. Not that that would be as easy to measure with a ruler! be interested to hear from someone more knowledgeable. cheers David
  24. White with black cycle wings. Saw you up near the Myland area. You looked a little lost??? Cheers David
