  1. I have a Mech OPG fitted to my wet sump VX. Definitely the right way to go. Can't offer any fitting tips as I didn't do it but yes Think is the place to go. Ask for Matthew Potter he will know all the bits you need and mention the L7 club to get a discount. Cheers David
  2. James, Can I get an O ring from a vauxhall dealer? Cheers David
  3. Hi redstokie Welcome to the club and forum I have a C20XE (are you 2.0 or 1.6?)and funnily enough I am droppping my sump in the next week or two. The dealer is correct, you need two sump gaskets to go either side of the windage plate. if you have a look underneath the car you will see. I too have a small oil leak at the front and someone on here recommended putting small amounts of sealant in certain areas to help prevent it. I can't recall details off hand but a forum search will bring the info up again. If I find it soon I will post here but chances are someone more knowledgeable will come along soon and advise. Edit to add - here is the info which was actually on one of my old threads 😳 - never got round to it until now but the leak was never that bad and tightening up the bolts helped a little I think. Thread is here Are you aware of the foam bafle that lives in the sump? Ideally these should be changed regularly (every two years) to ensure they don't degrade, break up and damage the engine. When I bought my HPC, which was 10 years old at time, I found that the baffle had never been replaced! Found lots of what looked like crispy seaweed in the pan but luckily I got away with it and my engine wasn't damaged. A tip when replacing the sump is to get some short pieces of studding to insert into a few bolt holes to help guide up and hold the pan as you get everything in place. Should be able to get the studding from most hardware places. Cheers David Edited by - Lotus Boy on 14 Apr 2011 09:58:58
  4. Still looking if anyone is selling. Thanks David
  5. Thanks Andrew, now onto it Cheers David
  6. Thank you to everyone for the replies and thanks Rob for a great link - those are really helpful . Just need to work out what LSD I have then. My car is a 1994 HPC if that would help identify? Hopefully it will be on the original invoice from the first owner or stamped on the casing? Cheers David
  7. BTTT. Anyone? Anything? Cheers David
  8. I recently attended the GTKY7 South event which got me thinking about such things as checking diff oil etc. Looking on the CC on line shop under the diff oil product it says the following: "requires LSDLUBEGUARD for limited slip differential" which is this stuff here. Just curious as to what this is and if it is instead of the diff oil or you add both? Can anyone offer some info? Cheers David
  9. I've got these style seats and have to say they are the most comfortable and supportive seats I know in a Seven and I have sat in all variants. Something to say about them is that the three lower sections on the back are adjustable to suit your comfort, plus I am pretty sure you sit lower in these that the later S type seats. No connection and I don't know Bobo but just love these seats, don't see them come up very often these days! Cheers David
  10. Hi, As said, I am looking for a set of MB R500 wheels - mag or aluminium. Willing to consider any condition, in fact ideally I don't want a mint set as I want to change the colour of the mag centres so will be sending to Mike for (crack testing and) refurbing. Preferably without tyres but will consider if they are shod with rubber. Please BM me or post here. Cheers! David

    CanAm

I keep meaning to get this DVD. I have heard it is the best out there and much better than the CanAm Thunder DVD. Can I ask where you got it please? Best place and price I can see at the moment is eBay for £24.99 Cheers David
  12. Super stuff I'll be in touch prior to the next meet. Cheers David
  13. Dignity, If you decide not to fit the stainless protectors I will take them off your hands. Could pick them up at the next Essex meet? No worries if not though, but if it helps you out, it helps me out. Cheers David
  14. Whilst waiting at the train platform in Colchester I spotted a tidy Seven drive past in Green/Yellow cone with Prisoner wheels. In fact I am convinced it is a Prisoner limited edition as it had the white piping on the doors and hood! Would like to know which engine? Very pretty car ... But have the roof down next time Cheers David

Man. A-live!! Loving that and I second what Nick says. Kitchens etc are over rated. Think of all the fun you would have driving to various take-away establishments. Going be a tough car to replace in the future Andy when you want to get back into them. Anyway, appreciate I'm not helping much so I'll stop there but thanks for sharing. Always a joy to see these extra special Sevens. Cheers Dave

As an HPC owner I am simply drooling over the thought of this 🥰 🥰. Wish I could afford it but alas not just there yet. Please don't be a spoilsport - share the pictures with us . Sounds a beautiful car and suspect it won't be around for too long. Cheers Dave ps good luck with the house project.
  19. acw - I have often tracked these baffle threads but I've only really ever seen comments about ditching it relating to the K-Series. Granted the foam baffle can disintegrate whether it is in the bottom of a K or a C20XE but what I don't know is what mods you would make to a C20XE to counter the removal. When I bought my HPC I had the foam baffle replaced and only when the sump was dropped I found no baffle but seaweed...and lots of it . Speaking to the previous owner (one owner car) he never knew about it being a 'servicable' item and therefore the original baffle had been in the car ten years! I was lucky - flushed the engine and been fine ever since. I find many advise to replace every two years as a minimum and never mix oil types as this can accelerate any degrading of the foam. When I took the last one out two years ago it was fine. Will be replacing again this year. Cheers David
  20. Thought Mobil Motorsport 15w 50 was the oil of choice for the big 'uns. Cheers David Editted to correct the grade from 5 to 15 Edited by - Lotus Boy on 26 Nov 2010 08:56:45
  21. Colin, Mention the Lotus Seven Club and you should get a discount too Cheers David
  22. ...and ask to speak to Matthew Potter, he will sort you out. Make sure you mention the club and you should get a discount too Cheers David ps Mech OPG is definitely the way forward. I had two failed senders before giving up and going mechanical.
  23. Finlay, Guess it can be done as evidenced here as seen on the blue SLR. No idea if it was a straight fit or needed mods. Maybe you could contact Petrolhead on this forum (as it is his website) and he can help shed some light on it or put you in touch with the owner?? Cheers David
  24. Ditto. I bought a set of minilites made by Superlite and these fouled the AP 4 pots. Toyed with putting spacer and longer studs on the hub but decided to get rid for the KN ones which fitted fine. Karl - just bear in mind you may need to grind down your de dion ears at the back if you fit 7" or wider on the rears. Common problem where the wheel rim rubs against the trailing metal, but you only need to shave off a small amount. You will see what I mean when you come to fit the rears. Plenty of info in TechTalk if you search. Cheers David
  25. Such a good looking car Andy. Love those Dymags too 🥰. Weigh the same as a bag of biscuits.
