  1. Quoting Eugene: Been using Aero's for years - Brooklands. Never had a problem in over 100K miles of Aero sevening... Never wear a bash hat, as I do think it tends to make you look a tool, and more importantly it tends to isolate you from your surroundings too much, which in a 7 is very important as you have to be aware of everything and everyone around you on the road - different on a race track. With a bash hat it is much harder to drive defensively, and react to other's idiotic driving. (An no, it's not the same as on a bike due to the different driving/riding position). I also use glasses, and have a pair of Adidas Climacool sunglasses with prescription inserts. Means I can easily change the lenses for day/night driving. And use a buff around the neck and lower face, and a beanie when cold/raining/snowing... Ans sun-cream when sunny!!! It's the only way to drive a 7!!! http://www.7-dna.com/forums/img/smilies/lebogclub.gif Yes ,Yes , Yes , nail on the head ! , agreed ! No point in having lots of fresh/smell of cow muck/someones bbq/etc etc if you then wear a ...helmet , unless its chucking it down ! I wear my normal driving glasses and in winter a woolly hat !
  2. Quoting andy bell: Thought this might be useful for other people in the event the ECU for whatever reason dies. Rather than giving Caterham £600 for a brand new one if you phone MBE (01285 883030) and ask for Jerry he did a repair (actually replaced PCB in mine) for a quarter of the cost on mine. With luck will help in future and save someone some wallet pain - thanks to Paul Deslandes for the suggestion/help! That's very useful , I have a second hand MBE ecu which has been reset to my engine spec on the rr and so far everything is fine but you never know when you may need help !
  3. My 16 inch original wheels and tyres are stacked up in the garage ! Those Avons are designed for normal cars not lightweight sports cars !
  4. I converted from carbs to jenveys in March and its important to be aware that you don't get the pops and bangs unless you ask for them to be dialled in so make sure you do this !!!!

    fosse way sat

Not one 7 all the way to Ettington and then back to Lutterworth later in day ! Where are cat 7's ? ☹️
  6. Crickey !! This is scary ! Hope it doen't happen to anyone one here. Must check UJ's !
  7. At the risk of sounding conservative don't do it , some may think its a copy of a 7 !
  8. What goes wrong on tubes is they crack , usually just left or right of centre . As long as it gives you warning its ok ! *eek* Glad mine is now renewed , maybe it wasn't helped by me pushing the power from 175 to 235 bhp !

    rear shunt

    Excellent ! 😬
  10. Tonight , one car next to my HPC ! Spoke to owner , from Notts'Derbys'Leics meets area.
  11. I've had a cracked De dion tube , its not pleasent ! Was told by Dartford - wear and tear/age etc. Anyway after nearly going off the road I ordered another and without much difficulty put the new slightly updated one on ! Suppose 1991 - 2013 is a fair run for strains including upping power from original 175bhp ! Edited by - combine on 9 Jun 2013 07:02:54
  12. You were going north , we were going south around 2.30 ish, just coming back from Donni from a single seater drive on the track ! Edited by - combine on 8 Jun 2013 17:41:48
  13. Seen this 7 before a few years ago on the same road - Sulby aerodrome rd , sunday morning , great to see and hear ! 😬
  14. Think I know the bracket concerned as I removed those brackets when I fitted some tillets a while back , should be possible to weld using a mig as long as you can get at the cracked area with the weld wire. Er , on seeing the pics its not the same as mine , looks like the metal is difficult to remove from the foam/plastic area ? Edited by - combine on 2 Jun 2013 21:47:25

    rear shunt

So many folk on the phone these days , blo*dy nightmare !
  16. Would be interested to know why this happened as have been told that Duratecs are the way to go and masses of power etc ! ☹️ 5k miles is begger all compared to my HPC having done 26k now ! Edited by - combine on 2 Jun 2013 13:52:05
  17. In the break at the theatre we went outside and my wife spotted a red cat 7 k series built 6 years ago in red with a caterham stripe along the sides , we talked to the chap who was parked by the bus pull in , made our day !
  18. Or go screenless and put a helmet on if it looks a bit rainy !
  19. Much easier to do this job if you've a hyd lift ! 😬
  20. Got to be a tillet , a very good upgrade , you can feel the back end of the car sliding around much better on corners etc ! 😬
  21. I just wired straight from the fan switch back to a dash mounted switch , works fine , probably don't need it but nice to have one in emergency ! 😬
  22. Quoting Cookie Monster: OK, thx but don't really want to take them out the car - not to mention that fact that the bolts will be a right s*d to remove after numerous bottoming out events Make the bolts captive like I did , a bit of weld soon sorts 'em ! 😬 Easy to take em out for odd jobs then !

    Half Hood

SBFS hood is a good choice , I used mine for about a year when it needed to be unfurled due to inclement weather , excellent , then decided to go screenless which was a hell of an experience , probably the best upgrade ever !
  24. Quoting the_village_idiot: Hi guys, How do I drain all the oil from my dry sumped car? I believe it holds around 7L? I have read some people just drain the 5L from the engine and change the oil more frequently than they would if they performed a 7L change but as my car doesn't have a dip stick it would be reassuring to know its to the right level. Thanks :) I didn't think any dry sump had a dip stick ?
