  1. One last BTTT! Anyone? Want to make an offer?
  2. Looks really nice and so well cared for, I might be interested as I've been toying with the idea of an older Boxster for a while and this looks ideal. Need to have a chat with SWMBO.

  5. Good to hear Steve, you might have heard the sump scrape the end of the trailer if the ramps were a bit steep.
  6. IIRC the seats weren't provided in the academy cars back then - people either chose Tillets or had bag seats made.
  7. A good friend of mine is selling his little-used Academy car. This has been really well maintained and actually not raced very much - part of the Academy season and then I don't think he's raced it since - but it was upgraded each year 'just in case'. It really is a very good example. The asking price for the car is £19,000 and the unused trailer £4,000 - but give Stu a call if you are interested, I'm sure there's a deal to be done! Please don't post questions on here, if you want to email Stu then let me know and I'll get his email address. I've copied the advert from the Facebook Marketplace. My 2013 Academy car now upgraded to Supersport, (engine/ECU, LSD, refresh gearbox etc) with carbon dash and carbon indicator pods. Lite race battery and upgraded cutoff switch. Stainless steel custom exhaust surround , polished exhaust. Polished screen surround, removable and aero screen option. Clear lenses , sports style colour matched mirrors. Double D super lite roll cage (easier for passenger ) in powder coat white over Viper Blue car. Some venture shield on the car e.g. along the sides. Pair of Tillet seats will be fitted and included in sale. Fitted with New style wheels in black and silver new tyres and total miles on the car only 4044. Other items the buyer might want with the car but can sell separately although will hold off till I see what the buyer wants as full package of gear. PRG mini sporter trailer late model with tyre rack I bought it last year but not used. A spare set of new style wheel fitted with unused new tyres can be bought with the car as can the original Academy style cage. Also available vbox with 2 cameras installed in car but may be sold elsewhere and colour matched and show custom air brushed custom Bonnet. Spare colour matched nose cone. The car will be supplied with new MOT and in trim I believe eligible for Mag 7 race events so be used on the road / track days in safety with full cage. Anyone who knows me or the car will know the car has always been kept in great mechanical and polished up condition. To view and or MAKE an OFFER call me on 07850172550
  8. That looks like a great starter 7 for someone, if I was ready to get back into 7 ownership I'd been taking a look myself!
  9. I'll go first then ;) If it were me I'd pop it along to Jim in Portsmouth for a quick mapping session afterwards, he's good and reasonably priced. What revs did you get away with for the static test? 4,500 is often asked for but as you know it gets a 'bit' louder higher up the range required for a hot lap.
  10. Blimey I think this is what I suggested on Facebook (if that was you posting there). In the past there have been a few incidents of the ignition switch being wired incorrectly (my first car was such an example, I realised before driving it) that caused the starter to remain engaged during use!
  11. I did cure it in my car, trying to remember what it was that did it, it wasn't any one thing that suddenly fixed it as far as I can remember, I ditched the PRRT and had a QED remote stat fitted by Tom New, I moved the coolant sensors from the water rail and put them in the section of water rail cut into the coolant hose on the opposite side of the engine (so not above the exhaust) and I can't remember what else. I may have had a head gasket changed as part of a partial strip down (but I'm really not sure as it came apart a couple of times for other reasons). The coolant level still rises a bit in the tank but not to the point of blowing it out of the cap. I did a fair few trackdays since and never had any more problems. Sadly I no longer have the car but as far as I know it's still going ok.
  12. It was a great engine in my car, very driveable, pretty quick and probably the best compromise for a road and trackday car. I hope it goes to another good home :)
  13. Yes, the first is the headrest support bracket from my academy car (no use to you) and the other is a plenum support that was fitted between the engine and throttle bodies - can't recall why I didn't refit it?
  14. Poppers shouldn't be a problem. Rivet them to the skin with countersunk pop rivets, washers on the inside and use a narrow headed rivet gun that can get to the head of the rivet - and they will be fine. Use the proper tool to fit the other bits to the boot (it looks like a G clamp, expensive to buy but marine or car trimming places will have one) and they won't come off again. I'm with nickh7, it's not a problem that needs fixing.
  15. Items - engine crane, hub socket, crimp tool for econoseal connectors Location - Gosport Lender - Grubbster Comments - As I'm going to be seven-less in a while I'm happy for the engine crane to reside elsewhere (no need for it to clutter my garage) but would it to remain available to the locals in Hampshire.
  16. In both 7's I've built I couldn't get the knee panel holes lined up so I placed them to where they looked 'about right', then drilled through and fitted the self tappers.
  17. Another engine crane here in Gosport if you are nearby!
  18. I've mixed up bigbond 2-part just by squeezing a bit out of each tube (same about) and mixing it like I would araldite. My tubes of bigbond actually came with a mixing nozzle that twisted on the front, but obviously can only be used once hence I've used the old fashioned method a few times.
  19. Great car, sorry to hear about your fathers declining health. If I hadn't just bought a new BMW I'd have been really interested, Caroline loves hers and this one looks lovely in that colour combination, spec including with the newer style headlamps.
  20. Maplin do a few, I bought one from them years ago and it seems to compare reasonably well to the measurements I get at circuits. With your set up you ought to be just OK, I run a slightly higher powered K with no airbox (but an under the bonnet foam filter) and I used to have a 6" powerspeed 4-2-1 set up - as long as it was packed OK I used to measure 96 - 98 at 4500 revs (which is what was asked for most of the time). Some circuits asked for 3/4 of max revs so I started offering a tad over 5000 (should have been 6000 plus really!) so I started to get a bit too close to the limits and have since fitted a Raceco and that made a huge difference.
  21. If the strengthening bar is the ali strip along the front edge of the boot cover then I wouldn't worry about it, lots of people remove these when fitting boot covers to make it easier.
  22. Caterham stopped using R clips (at about the time I built y first car IIRC) as there were incidents of them breaking . . . . split pin would be my preference.
