  1. Here is a short video of the engine and the noise. Only happens once it has warmed up.

    Carbon dash

You could try Bryn at Ultimate Carbon, he has them waterjet cut in batches, very pleased with mine. They have the 3 vertical holes between speedo and tacho, not sure if this is what you want or not. I stuck oil pressure warning lights in them. They need a fair bit of trimming around the edges and steering column to fit,
  3. No, not belt slip and it doesn't sound like it's coming from the gold DS pump, seems to be bell housing area but hard to pinpoint. It also stops if I loosen the oil filler cap, odd! I'll video it at the weekend.
  4. Cheers Rob. My clucking has turned into a bit of a squeal sound (I'll video it when I'm back home at the weekend), or something else is squealing a bit but I can't see what. If I remove the oil fills cap it stops, before I realised this I replaced the clutch in case it was release bearing but made no difference. The clutch was fubar'd though so was a good call.
  5. So if the clucking noise is air being sucked in, where is it being sucked in through?
  6. Sounds like a great car and spec, surprised it's not gone!
  7. Good thinking Nick, hopefully nothing seriously wrong with mine. Where do your breather hoses go to?
  8. Not sure if it is the thread Jonathan but there is certainly some comment on the breathing options in it, I think I'll open up a breather and see how it goes.
  9. Yes it's the clucking noise I'm trying to understand, it has turned into a bit more of a squeal now rather than a cluck! If I loosen the oil filler cap it stops.
  10. My K has both cam cover breathers blanked off. I have a dry sump (bellhousing tank) and this vents into a catch tank. Is there any reason why the cam cover breathers are blanked off?
  11. By way of an update - over the winter I stripped the back end of the car, had the diff refreshed by R and R new A frame, new A frame bush in the dedion and the propshaft checked (it turned out to be fine) then reassembled it all after a good clean and tidy up with hammerite smooth. I never got around to taking the engine and gearbox out but I now need to as I think the CRB is on the way out. Helix provide 2 options, 'road organic kit' suitable for 130 lb/ft and 'race paddle kit' suited for 160 lb/ft (so I think this is what I need). The bearing they supply is INA F-202991.
  12. Yhm with a never to be repeated offer ;)
  13. Sounds very much like the auto adjuster isn't quite working, or could be really low pads on that side (look at the inner one) but I'd be surprised if that could cause it. If it were mine I'd probably remove the handbrake cable from that side, then see if I could push the level on the caliper round further than pulling the handbrake does to see if that moves the auto adjuster on a bit. Maybe even take the caliper off the disc (might be hard if you still have solid brake lines) and put something between the pads that is a bit thinner than the disc and again move the lever to see if this winds the piston out a bit. If nothing works then time to strip and overhaul the caliper I s'pose. I'm a bit too busy to lend a hand these days :(
  14. I found one in the garage today Nick - pm me an address and I'll pop in it the post for you.
  15. It sounds like the automatic adjuster in the drivers side caliper isn't adjusting properly. If you keep pulling the handbrake up after the passenger side has locked can you eventually lock the drivers side?
  16. My carbon bits are all pre-preg from Ultimate Carbon. Untreated, not lacquered, no issues at all regarding white spots or stone chips and pretty cheap compared to others available. Not glossy, just carbon fibre as it should be ;)
  17. Tom are you sure they do a widetrack spec front damper? I'm not aware of these, just the ones with a 1" spacer. You can leave the spacer out (as CC seem to do) but on a low profile tyre it does mean they need to be wound right up.
  18. Engine spec on this page http://sevenracing.co.uk/My_Other_Seven.html
  19. Have you had it mapped or was that graph just a power run? Just for comparison here's mine -

    update

The update didn't live up to the expectations it set!
  21. I did my Academy car, start at the beginning of the build diary and you'll see how I got on. http://www.sevenracing.co.uk/Caterham_Build_Diary/Caterham_Build_Diary.html It can be quite fiddly, I learned by watching youtube videos and did a pretty good job of most of it. I ended up paying someone to do the bonnet for me after a couple of attempts. The thicker vinyls are easier to work with but don't form into the shapes so well as the thinner vinyls though. Get some samples and have a practice - that's what I did on some front wings. If you pm me an address I can send you some of my offcuts to play with.

    Stubbington

Amazing to be spotted - I'm hardly ever in the 7! Wightblat, trips to Tom's for MOT and 1 or 2 blats a year are about it these days, otherwise it's on a trailer going to or from trackdays.

    Stubbington

If it was bright green it was probably me (GN53) heading back from Tom New's after he'd MOTd and flatfloored the car for me :)
  24. BTT - added new items and removed those that have sold.
