    160 Turbo

Hi cdt123. I can confirm that once I changed the MAF unit I did not have further issues until the car went in part exchange for a 310 kit in late 2019. However, at the same time I changed it I also used a sealant on the joint between the unit and the filter housing. As you know, the joint is a 2-screw plastic-to-plastic affair that comes after the filter so if dirt/dust was getting into the MAF unit to upset the comparison settings between a steady heated element and a cooled-by-air-flow element (its a pretty basic design!) then that is where was likely to be getting in. Hope this helps. Kind regards Peter
  3. I fitted a Radtec after 3 CC Rad failures on my Sigma. The Radtec is a super looking product; I didnt know whether to put it on the mantelpiece or fit it! And after much 'undecided hovering' at the Halfords shelves opted for Halfords Blue NAP coolant, intent on changing it yearly. I decided on non OAT as I was also told by Radtec that they can/will rework a failed Radtec rad if an OAT coolant is not used. The engine runs a tad hotter, which is not a bad thing, and so far so good. But if anyone tells me Blue NAP is not the thing I could change it!!
  4. Instead of forking out for new shocks all round you could buy some adjustable carrier 'tubes' that will make yours adjustable..about £200 for 4. Then take the car to PGM in West Sussex (if based South) where they will machine an additional groove in your shocks and fit the carrier plates. Then get PGM to 'flat floored' it, combined with a laser front and rear alignment set up and your car will handle superbly.
  5. #28 I asked the Avon trackside team at Thruxton on Saturday the same question. They said that the Melksham plant is not for sale, they are all out of a job and ZZS/ZZR will disappear from the marketplace by end of the year.
  6. I experienced both these issues on a. 160 I renewed the MAF and still have the old one you can have if you want a 'spare'. However, if you look at the engine side of the filter box you will see that it is an uneven, 2-bolt plastic to plastic joint, which I think allows dust debris to bypass the filter. This then impinges on the MAF elements and upsets the setting. I renewed the joint using sealer and never had the problem again. The drive-by-wire throttle system mismatch (which meant I had no control over the throttle whatsoever) occurred on a damp misty morning in the Picos as we were just heading off to get the ferry home. After a panicky few mins the heat of the engine seemed to dry it out and it was OK after that. I had another occasion where the AA man took off the throttle body electrical cover to clean and spray the connectors therein; so I think you are on the right track with what you have done.

    Caliper bolts

If getting new bolts, cut/grind 2 or 3 grooves/slots in an old one and use it as a thread cleaner.
  8. Having recently fitted a third Radiator to a new 310 now at 8k miles (2nd Rad lasted 1550m) I have slackened back on the nuts either end of the rubber mounts to take as much tightness and stress out of them as possible without nuts coming really loose. There are spring washers there that should stop this. So far, so good after 750m. I will report back if it works in the longer term.
  9. Empty expansion tank and small drip from bottom hose' ................doesn't 'compute' that well with me. Was there a significant puddle under the rad? Have you checked other areas, like sump level?
  10. You have first dibs Lawrence. Where are you based.
  11. 2 x part worn 13" x 185 ZZS's. Not down to wear indicators anywhere on tread, about 1mm to go on most worn side, 2mm on the other. Dated 2019. Probably 500/750m left in them so OK to get through MOT if caught out by current shortage, and OK for considerable track use. £60 ono the pair. Based South Hampshire. Edit- sorry about the multiple entry; have no idea why other than it took ages to set up the post
  12. Hi Colin. Not the same car. We passed at Sherfield English, I was on way to the Gurston Down Hill Climb event for a good day of motorsport which unfortunately saw a white 7 in the barriers at the Carousel. S310 CC

    New 420

CC have always served me well. The odd minor criticism yes, but overall both Crawley and Dartford have been OK......mind you, now that 'Derek of Dartford' has left any plans for a 3rd build would need careful consideration
  14. Recently had similar problem. Took armrests to a local automobile upholsterer who had a tool that would do it, didn't even charge me and indicated that most people in his trade would have such a tool.
