  1. I got the first full set (including heater hoses) they produced for a 1.6K from Classic Silicon Hoses and found them to be very good quality and all fitted well. Only a small outfit but found them easy to deal and would recommend them. Steve

    What is it?

Thanks Paul and Arnie - it was the fuel trap pipe which was lurking amonst the wiring loom and I'd somehow missed it!! Now sorted and running fine. Steve

    What is it?

Update - all fluids in and fired up last night but misfiring and wont idle. Touch of throttle and the revs seem to rise to between 2-3k and stay there for a few seconds before falling back and stalling. IACV seems a possible candidate so will strip and clean tonight but still concerned about the "spare" connection on the manifold. Any other ideas? Steve

    What is it?

Thanks for the replies but still confused! Is the MAP unit the one on the front end of the fuel rail? If so, that is connected to a stub on the front end of the manifold. Immediately below this is another stub that is connected to the charcoal filter, so I have two connections to the manifold. The one I'm unsure about is at the rear end of the manifold, it may never have had anything connected to it but cI an't remember and surely it shouldn't be just an open to atmosphere? Steve

    What is it?

Just installed engine after gearbox refresh and connecting everything back up. There is a stub pipe into the inlet manifold just above the bracket for the throttle cable (similar to connection for a vacuum tube) with nothing obvious that connects to it - I can't remember ever noticing it before or whether anything was connected when I removed manifold. Can anyone tell me what it's for and should anything be connected to it!! 1.6k series with standard plastic manifold. Thanks Steve

    K Series Anti freeze

Thanks. Just spoke to Comma and G30 is exactly the same product as Extreme Red, just rebranded.
  7. I've previously used Comma Xtreme Red but don't seem to be able to get hold of it it now. From what I've been told Comma G30 seems to have replaced it - is this still OK for a K-Series?

    Drilling Thermostat?

Thanks Steve - sounds like it's worth doing!
  9. I'm just about to fit a new thermostat (1.6 K) and have been told it's worth drilling a small hole in the stat to help bleeding the system. Is this worth doing? Steve
  10. John Could I have a copy of your LF article - BM sent. Does the Burton CRB also require preloading? Thanks Steve
  11. Graham You say not that straighforward - I'm just about to change mine and was thinking of going down the route of the Burton unit. Are there some pitfalls not highlighted in the LF Artice? Steve
