    Cam Belt

Due to change the cambelt on my std 1.6k Superlight (2000) - do I stick with the standard belt or is it best to go for the wider Gates belt as recommended by Oily?
  18. Mark Just sent another one! Steve

  20. When I had my 6 spd refreshed by Road & Race they used a thin bead of silicon sealant on the mating faces. I removed the cover later to drill and fit a plug to allow the oil level to be checked and topped up from within the engine bay (worth doing if you have the cover off to save scrambling under the car) and used one of the Locktite silicon sealants - can't recall the number but it's designed for metal to metal mating surfaces without a gasket and got it from Halfords. Not sure if it would leak without but based on what R&R did I thought best to seal it!
