  1. Hi If your car was sprayed by Caterham then if you email roseym@caterham.co.uk with the Vin number and reg then she will be able to tell you. This is what I did recently . Mind you the cost of the paint was a little steep . Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC

    Oil filter?

I bought one from a Brown and Gammon (an MG specialist) in Baldock and was charged £5.50..They knew about the new number for the filter and confirmed it was ok for the K series. Now need some time to fit it. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  3. I have completed two trips around Europe with my Mrs with the cc Luggage rack. Used a smallish hand luggage bag and strapped it to the spare wheel /roll over bar. Ok I have an SV which helps . My Mrs got all she needed into the bag and some books to read as well We also filled the boot with one ruck sack /brollies and a fold up chair. The most important thing is to buy some dry bags to put around the luggage . Also get some intercom system to stop you shouting and pass the time away with some music. Used the space at the back of the seats for beer bought when we got to France 😬. I call it the Caterham bar Also been to Le Mans with a 4 man tent and the Luggage rack +bought a stack of beer home. Off again this year. Have fun Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  4. I fitted one of these near to the heater here and bleeding the system is a piece of cake ..No lifting..Just fill from the bleed Tee.. plenty said about this item before. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  5. Hi, I unfortunatley have a rather large crack on my windscreen and rang up National Windscreens to obtain a replacement via my insurance. Mine has a polished surround (not black ) and according to National Windscreens they cannot source a polished surround for an SV (even from Caterham). They can get a black surround but Im not too sure about how it will look with my polished stantions. The previous owner replaced the windscreen 3 years ago with no problem so I cannot understand whats going on. Maybe they have to get the windscreen and fit it to my frame. Anybody else had trouble Thanks Steve PS After posting this a thought came to mind...checked on Caterham Website and it is available so National Windscreens must be talking through there 🙆🏻. 6. My 7 came with Stationary M25 Traveller job complete but when the passenger mirror became a bit loose I slightly overtightend the screw and think I caused a small crack in the windscreen which on my trip to Corsica/Europe this year slowly extended to the bottom of the screen. ☹️ . Insurance job soon. Be v carefull with screw length / fitting. Worth having although they do seem to move when we open the doors. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC

Hi Best bet is to invest in a multimeter from Maplin. Then use it to find out which is 12v+..Practice on the battery. You will always use it. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  8. Hi, I used 292 after my wings fell off last year. Spent ages cleaning the wing underneath ..You could eat your lunch off it 😬. Its time well spent. Used the glue to stick Bighead tyrap holders to the wing .The tyraped the bigheads to the wing stays. Very handy as I had to move the wing slightly when I got new tyres. Left the glue to harden for 2 days and its still stuck after 4000 miles . Went to the Sikaflex website to check on the difference but whats £29 when you could have a new wing to buy if the glue is not up to the job. Its also good for sticking almost anything else as well but does go off after 6 months. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  9. Hi James, My 1.8 k Roadsport Clutch Release bearing started exhibiting the same noise yours did during my trip to Le Mans last year. It started playing up when I got on the boat to France and then lasted all the way back but got steadily noisier. I ordered one from Redline ..£10 and changed it the following weekend (also took the oportunity to fit a T piece to help bleed the cooling system) Took a full day . I did consider just splitting the engine from the box but the old Bearing was a b££gger to get off so took out the engine completly .The old bearing was absolutley knackered. Researched the job by using Blatchat and enjoyed it thorougly Just rememeber if you are doing the job to mark up all the connections and double check that u have disconnected everything. Good luck Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  10. Hi, As per the previous post Ive gone trough 2 water temp senders in the past 2 years . Now I put some silicone sealent around the top of it to stop the muck getting in. Seems to be ok..(Touch wood) Steve PS I got a T Piece which I fitted near the heater which helps with the bleeding from the system.(I can bleed the system in 5 mins). Look on Ebay. Lots on info on this in the past Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  11. Hi, I got a Starcom and Velcroed it to the LH Bulkhead. Wired the supply from the Ignition switch and made up a small box which I velcroed between the seats .This box(from Maplin) had 2 headset sockets and a stereo 3.5" socket fiited to it and so its now dead easy to connect up the headsets/mp3 player. All wires run under the Carpet. Made our trip to Europe superb and now cant wait for Le Mans with Pink Floyd blasting away. Steve. Ps will try to take some pics and post soon. 12. Hi , I did a 12,000 mile service on a 1.8k series Roadsport and used Mobil 1 5w-40 Fully Synthetic(bought in Calais..but I think Halfords do some..do a search). I found it was a pain to find out if the level was correct as the oil was so clean. Best bet seemed to be use a clean white paper towel/cloth and check the level on the dipstick with the engine running and hot. Then put a small amount in and go around the loop over and over again. After blasting 2000 miles around Europe only then was there enough indication on the dipstick to do without the Cloth. Have fun. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  13. If you've used CPC in Preston before then use this one.. Nice and Cheap. here I soldered the connections onto the rear brake light and fed the cables up through the boot.. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC

  15. Hi Mine packed up before Le Mans this year and I took it apart and cleaned it.. It then lasted 1 month before packing up again..Bought a new one from Redline components..£5.. Keep a spare with me along with the usual stuff. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  16. After doing my first Oil change I found it almost impossible to check the oil level . The oil was so clean. It did seem against a kitchen towel that I had over filled it. So I undid the oil drain plug and drained a bit out..Then thought..Ive drained too much .and then refilled it..But could I see the level..Oh maybe ..bol***ox I've over filled it I went round and round in circles till I gave up and now after 2000 miles around Europe it is a tad low. Surely a bit either way cant hurt Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  17. Hi Just looked at my photos of old and the new CRB and John is spot on.. click here The old one was shot at 😳 Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  18. Hi CAB Mine is a Ford 5 speed box ..is that a type 9 🤔 🤔 on a 2003 Roadsport . Hope that helps Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  19. Hi, I fitted a CRB recently after mine packed up on the way to Le mans this year. I got mine from Redline components. I think its a SKF part and type AB57U . It did seem a slightly different design but after a bit a gentle persuasion fitted ok. I decided not to bother with the pre load. Done 3000 miles since (blasted all around Europe) and all ok(touch wood) . Steve
  20. Hi Jono, That was myself and the Mrs going back home after spending 2 weeks travelling around Europe..France, Germany,Switzerland ,Mount Blanc and back through France .. Sorry if I did not here you ..may have had Ian Dury blasting away in my headset.. Nice Roads though in France Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  21. Hi Myles, Thanks for the conformation of what I had hoped..I brought every other spare but the sender.. Its brilliant here..the Italians love the 7..Lake Como is beautiful. Thanks also for your bril website..I used it to help me change the oil together with the foam.. Cheers Steve
  22. Hi all, Im here in Lake como in Italy and have a problem with my water temp guage. It seems to move around all over the place sometimes staying at just below 80 then up to 95 ish ..then cycles around 80..maybe moving 20 degrees..Ive checked all hoses and they all seem hot..so I assume the stat is swinging into action. I fitted a t piece and there seems to be no air and plenty of water and the fan cuts in when Im in heavy traffic.. So is it the usual sender fault .. It only happenned when Id been blasting over Jullier pass on the way to St Moritz . I did have a small leak from one of the hoses (the j hose) and I have tightened up the jubilee clip which stoped the leak. Is it the sender problem and can I check anything else.. Tomorrow is a long trip to Mount Blanc.. Thanks Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  23. Hi, Steve of Simply Tyres has a website ...here .. I also visited him and got some 195/50/15 Toyo's 888 fitted for a superb price..They are a little squarer than my A048 and I had to adjust the cycle wings. Just been for a blat and they are getting better by the mile Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  24. All Thanks very much ..Just checked and it sure has the ACEA A3 rating. I can sleep better tonight now.. Steve Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
  25. Hi Doing a 12,000 mile service tomorrow in my 1.8K series and am going to use some Mobil 1 5w-40 Essence (Formule Longevite ) ,100% Syntheses oil that I bought in November last year in Calais. After trawling through the masses of info on the forum Im a bit lost and wonder if it is ok.. I have no plans to race (this year anyway) but am going on a 2000 mile+ trip around Europe in 2 weeks. Sump foam change being done as well.. Thanks v much Stevey Northerner in a Nova Violet Brute.S777 XTC
