  1. Just a quickie, think I know the problem just need some comfort factor before I take the boot apart. I assume the breather on the tank, should allow excess pressure to vent ??? A couple of times now (both in hot weather) there has been a release of pressure as I've taken the fuelcap off. I'm guessing the breather should prevent this ?? The breather hose is folded, perhaps the fold is too tight and it has kinked & blocked ?? Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here

Eric, Did you get sorted.......... 🤔 Can't profess to be an expert but an extra pair of hands or eyes............ Live in Lutterworth, blatted down to Guilsborough this afternoon, came back and was trawling through BC and found your thread Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here

  5. My SV skin wasn't drilled either, the nice man at Arch did that I understood all wheel carriers on Steel Fabs Chassis are put on on the same way, SV or S3, the only difference to mine is that they are usually put on in the Factory before the fuel tank. I will admit that having the SV makes the retrofit easier...... 😬 Bruce at Arch makes the carrier, not sure if Caterham add it ot the chassis or Steel Fabs. (i'm guessing Caterham as it will depend on customer order) You also have to make sure you have the correct slot in the backplate to fit the wishbone to, if you wish to retrofit But going back to the OP, I sketched up all sorts of carriers before I discovered I had the bosses, none of which I was particularly chuffed with , the one that had the most going for it was a triangular frame with pegs at the bottom that would go through the skin and pick up on the lower chassis rail to take the weight. The top of the triangle would be fixed to the wishbone fixing point. Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here

  7. I got the clear repeaters from James Whiting, as CC only seem to do the clear domed indicator here The repeaters aren't shown specifically but ring up they may still have some left Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here

  9. My SV's tank is the same, on the red I have never got more than 26-28 L in. I don't like running past the red, so end up with more petrol station stops. but at 34 mpg I'm not complaining I even measured the tank to make sure it had an SV tank in it !!!! 11. Thanks for the picture and email, Ian Had another look at the Plugs when I got home, and as Martin says, AYFS 22CB, but also Bosch HR8MEV stamped on them. Looked up on the t'internet and found these are a "colder" plug gapped for 1.3mm. As I had already discovered, that these plugs don't like 1.3mm in a Caterham, and my plugs never seemed to get hot enough to self clean (i.e. they were always black not brownish) I decided to go with Martins suggestion of the TR5A-10's, price being the main driver 😬 (the 10 refers to a gap of 1.0mm which is nearer to what I have been gapping the original ones at. Fitted them tonight, went for a quick blat before the rain, car felt much better, smoother etc etc. I will give it a bit longer and check the plugs and their colour to see if the tip temperature is hotter than before Thanks for all the comments, will keep you posted Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here
  12. Martin, thanks for that Saturday was fantastic, just proved all the shortcomings are the driver and not the car !!!!! I will do some more searching on spark plugs, all I do know is that on Saturday the car got hotter than I have ever had it before, flat out then periods of waiting meant the fan was kicking in all the time, and the oil pressure dropped to about 1-2 bar on idle when it was hot, so perhaps an oil change is in order. Ian, Any idea of a trade name or type ?? I tried googling "fancy 3 legged" and you don't want to know what came up 😬 R Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here
  13. Martin, Sorry to hijack your thread, but I'm interested to know what plugs you settled on, and whether yours is a 125 or 150 Sigma ?? I struggled with misfiring for a long time and seemed to cure it by re-gapping the plugs to 0.9mm from 1.2mm. After Keevil on Saturday, the car was struggling and all the gaps had increased again, so I regapped back to 0.9mm and all is well. So I am thinking would the equivalent "proper"make plug be more consistent, or is there a better plug anyway TIA Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here Edited by - Windy Corner on 28 Apr 2009 09:19:27

  15. Dark Blue, seen in Hinckley, Upper Bond St, about 3.30pm. I beeped, you waved, but not sure if you twigged where it came from. Perhaps a new owner collecting from CCM ? Also saw Orange CSR GN55 at CCM, all polished up waiting for a new owner to collect, anyone on here ??? R Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here

  17. Ah Found the link to my thread, the gearbox discussions are about midway down page 2 here Also my gearcalc figures were a bit out, as I had forgotten to change the ratio of the diff 70mph in 5th in 5 speed) 3452 rpm and (70mph in 6th in 6 speed) 3888 rpm 😳 but please check them yourself.......... Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here
  18. I remember having this debate before I bought mine (can't seem to find the thread though ☹️) The conclusion I came to then, as others have said, 5 speed for road (taller 5th), 6 speed for track (closer ratios). As it turned out the car I went for had a 5 speed box, so I was happy, as I was looking for road with the odd track day With the benefit of hindsight, a couple of things I have noticed, is that when approaching a corner and changing down, 3rd is too high (car chugs around corner) and 2nd seems too low, which seems to back up what Alex said above, gap between 2nd and 3rd is too large. The lower 5th for cruising is a good idea, but what the difference in noise level between (70mph in 5th in 5 speed) 3452 rpm and (70mph in 6th in 6 speed) 4210 rpm is debatable. I have also found that I tend to avoid motorways anyway so tend not to cruise for long periods in top gear, deliberatley tend to find the A roads, with roundabouts where a 6 speed box would be nice. (I used Gearcalc.exe for the above using 195x45x15 tyres) Next time round 🤔, I would seriously consider the 6 speed instead................but then I am perhaps biased as all my diesel tintops have 6 sp gearboxes 😬 Hope that this is helpful Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here
  19. It was a bit odd, perhaps a flat spot at 4500 rpm as I struggled to hold it steady. Anyway, meter tolerances aside, they are near as dammit the same 😬 "Type 1 / Class 1 Precision Grade for laboratory and field use ± 0.7 dB Environmental, building acoustics, road vehicle Type 2 / Class 2 General Purpose Grade for field use ± 1.0 dB Noise at work, basic environmental, motor sport " from IEC 61672 R Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here Edited to add Tolerance information Edited by - Windy Corner on 23 Apr 2009 12:43:20 Edited by - Windy Corner on 23 Apr 2009 12:50:14
  20. That would make sense for the 125 Sigma, but for the 150, hardly seems worth it. Anyone ever got an ECU pincode from Caterham ?? as I suspect to do anything useful to that engine you would have to remap it ?? 21. Just tested my 1.6 Sigma 150 2007 Roadsport SV At 4500 rpm - 95 dB(A) at 5175 rpm (3/4 max) - 94 dB(A) Standard Exhaust & CAT Signature Link should go to the results (somewhere) Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here Edited by - Windy Corner on 22 Apr 2009 14:35:43

  24. The loose nuts aren't a problem, and it is only once a year I did have to bend mine away from the bodywork abit though I need a new one, as the one that came with the car had some bolts missing, and the ones I replaced them have gone rusty (obviously not stainless ) Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here
  25. Eccles, Thanks for the update, be interested to know what the final diagnosis is though Rik Roadsport SV 1.6 Sigma 150 in Viper Blue here
