    Garage clear out

Hi If you do have some more clobber like a softbits draught reducer for a S3 with leather seats then I might well be interested in that! All the best Richard
  3. Or this looks very tasty if you could be tempted to go for something like a Jenvey DCOE pattern throttle body set up
  4. Could it be this one? All the best Richard
  5. Quoting Dave Jackson: what horror stories on lagging the primaries ? Ive been through 5 engines with lagged primaries and not had any valve regression or issues with the lagging ?. I've also heard that the K-Series engine can suffer from heat soak if the exhaust primaries are lagged.... All the best Richard
  6. Hi Willmac, YHM All the best Richard
  7. Hi Steve, I'll register my interest for these, I just need to check that they will fit a 2005 chassis... Worst case is I'll just disassemble and use the adjustable platforms as that's what I'm after really 😬 I'll send you a Blatmail shortly. All the best Richard
  8. Quoting oldbuffer: You missed The plates are fitted vertically I submit that this was covered under my general "etc." My point was if the car was registered before 1st September 2001 then it would be legal to have stick on plates as the additional checks do not apply, or isn't this the case? Edited to add: I'm not being Caterham specific here, just a general comment on stick on plates, so in the case of a Caterham a stick on rear plate would be acceptable on a pre 01/09/01 Seven, whereas a stick on front plate would be a bit dodgy. 9. Quoting oldbuffer: Hopfully this clarifies the situation regarding stick on plates Also for vehicles registered on or after 1 September 2001 ( i.e 51 plates and later ) the additional checks will also be performed: It displays the BSAU 145d marking It also displays the name and postcode of the registration plate supplier It does not display a honeycomb or similar effect background. My interpretation of that would be that assuming the lettering, colours, size, etc. were all correct then a stick on numberplate would be perfectly legal on any car rgistered before 1 September 2001. Or am I missing something? All the best Richard
  10. I'm not sure if it's the best place but Machine Mart do thread repair kits and they are open all weekend... I'm sorry to hear that things aren't going to plan ☹️
  11. Quoting stevemersey: Oh it weighs very little though! A whole 18 grams or half a slice of bread less than the standard one it seems 😬

    Wrap the Cat

Hi There was a car for sale on Pistonheads a while back that had been wrapped in matt black, but had the "Monster" energy drink name cut out of the vinyl down the sides so that the writing was in the original Caterham yellow. All the best Richard

    Yellow and Ali

Hi Spotted you at 1:48pm on the A31 heading out of Poole. I was in the blue Audi and I flashed my headlights, you had your roof off and it had been hailing just a few minutes before! All the best Richard
  14. Nothing to do with me but there is a set on Ebayfor £40 here They are even chrome(ish) 😬 All the best Richard
  15. How about this one on Ebay here It's a bit pricey though
  16. Proxy Spot A work colleague spotted a Blue Caterham at the Montacute Arms just before lunch on Sunday. He said you looked like you were freezing All the best Richard
  17. Sorry to hijack your thread a bit but I've just been looking at the Canley Classics website and noticed this interesting page... If you are popping down to Canley Classics can you ask if either of the kits would fit a Caterham with Ford PCD hubs? they used to do replacement disc here but I believe they got their wrists slapped... All the best Richard
  18. Hi Charlie, I don't think that's correct. If you switch off the engine and depress the clutch (I'm assuming the car is still in gear) while the car is moving at speed then the whole of the gearbox will be turning (it will effectively be driven by the propshaft). If you knock it out of gear, then it will just be the output shaft in the gearbox which is turning, but as mentioned previously there are still a lot of bearings involved. All the best Richard
  19. Hi Bluespeed, An automatic centre punch is one that doesn't need to be hit with a hammer, you just push it hard and a spring and latch arrangement gives a consistent mark each time as the force applied is suddenly dropped onto the point. They can be bought in all sorts of tool shops but for starters you might want to try here All the best Richard
  20. Doh!, that'll teach me for skipping through the thread
  21. If you are thinking of changing your quick release for an alternative then this one would solve any play issues as it doesn't have any splines.... When they were 7 tips the boss was sold pre welded onto a Caterham top steering column, the web page for Meteor doesn't make it clear if this is still the case, but it's an impressive bit of kit, you don't even need to line the wheel up to put it back on! All the best Richard
  22. Quoting lavena: So: I can push the clutch down and its still there I can take it out of gear and turn the engine off and it still there This means it is between the propshaft and the rear wheels or at the front wheels - because that is all that is moving. Andy Err that's not completely accurate, unless I'm mistaken there will still be a significant amount of movement within the gearbox when the car is moving even if the engine is off and the car is out of gear. The output shaft of the box will be turning and there are a number of bearings involved, but TBH you should be able to hear a gearbox problem fairly easily in a Seven. All the best Richard
  23. Hi You overtook me on the A31 at about 8:00am this morning (I hope you clocked the club logo on the back of my motor ) It looks like a lovely day for it! All the best Richard
  24. Hi Spotted you turning off the Ringwood road and heading towards the Upton bypass with the roof down I thought briefly that I would rather have been driving the Seven than walking with my wife and daughter to the cinema at Tower park - but Puss In Boots was very good 😬 I hope you had a good blat and didn't get caught in the rain. All the best Richard
  25. I'm no expert but from reading the ad it appeared that most of the head work had concentrated on the exhaust valves and ports. I agree that porting the induction side of things would make little (if any) real difference with power on a forced induction engine, but surely the exhaust porting would help the exhaust gases to leave the engine more efficiently? All the best Richard
