    Cold/rain tyres

An excellent Tyre - I've used these (well VikingContact's) a lot in Norway in fact we still have them on wifey's Forrester - I switched to Nokian Hakkapeliitta R2 this year though on my car (156 SW) as I needed new tyres & they won all the tests - excellent so far but been a bl00dy warm winter here so far...

    Cold/rain tyres

Loads of proper 13" winter tyres available if you go down to a 165 width... but proper winter tyres are soft & gooey - made for proper winters and will be quickly ruined in warmer / drier conditions...
  4. Quoting OliverSedlacek: Don't try running it in using synthetic oil. *arrowup*Totally agree - once in my yoof I built a howling A-series but stupidly used mobil1 for the build - the rings never ran in... Here´s another tip re dry building the pistons & running the engine hard from the outset.. Edited by - Neil66 on 14 Sep 2014 10:14:58
  5. This makes sense and seems to work for me & a wadge of biker mates I know wind it to the red line from the word go
  6. Sorry to the op but these things are available on fleabay all the time at less than £14... Pretty good they are too - bought a couple for an old s3 a while back :)
  7. Option 1 - Non starter for me being quartz Option 2 - Would have preferred the C8 pilot over the C10 but either way not keen myself on the replacement of the "7"... So for those reasons, sorry but I'm out..
  8. Yep I´m in - yet another vote for the C8 Pilot Mk II - in Black with the grey / silver logo ;) ETA - or actually a plain 7 logo would be good too Edited by - Neil66 on 1 Aug 2014 00:23:45
  9. Quoting Jonathan Kay: Quoting 6speedmanual: Very hard to fing wirh big enough capacity.I don't understand that: 200kg bathroom scales are widely available. Is more than that needed? Thanks Jonathan Not that easy - I looked at this a couple of years ago, so maybe things have changed... Yes plenty 200kg scales available but they're digital, so they need a tap to switch on and usually go off if no one steps on them quick enough.. I didn't want to make an investment in 4 to find out I was running around in circles... I went with Simon (Meteor) set up instructions and with a little tweaking found a really good balance in handling and perfect braking... Good enough for spirited road driving anyway ;)
  10. Quoting Alaskossie: Neil66, no luck on the c/f clams yet; I found someone in USA who said he could do it, but haven't taken it any further, like getting a pair of fibregalass clams to use for molds.... Some day, some day...!
  11. Gotta agree with JoeC - anyone used to riding bikes will find a sequential box natural... Having said that, I´ve not driven a cat with a sequential box but I have driven a few BE single seaters and the sequential is a pleasure... You don´t really need flat shift either - just pressure the lever hard and lift ever so lightly then bang next gear ;) They cannot be coaxed gently like a syncro box, as with all dog boxes - the firmer & faster, the better.
  12. how about this here ETA -the do packs of 5 for 2.45 Edited by - Neil66 on 5 Apr 2014 23:51:06
