  1. I used a couple of coats of Stoneguard.
  2. My new calipers needed winding back. I took them to a local friendly ford garage who did it for me for free.

    Oil leak !

When I built mine in 2012, both the engine and gearbox were supplied dry. Filling the gearbox was one of the memorable parts of the build. Are they now supplied wet because its the Mazda box?
  4. Diamond Back Ascent Mountain Bike. 1994 and very light use. Mine from new. I have just renewed the grips as the originals were split but everything else is original. 21 speed. Shimano STX gears and brakes. Avenir Gel Comp saddle, Araya wheels. Pedals with Avenir toe straps. As you can see from the pictures it’s in pretty good condition. I will also leave on the Specialised trip computer although this does need a new battery so I can’t guarantee it works. £150. Collect from High Wycombe.
  5. Softbits often make to order, did you phone them?
  6. I use rubber caps / bolt covers with a blob of blu tack in the bottom so they just push on and stay put. My master switch shroud goes back on in the same place. Mine is an SV so perhaps it's different on an S3? Does it need to spaced out a little?
  7. I use the earlier model from Go Pro with two screws. I think it was a bit cheaper than that too. Still available on Amazon I think.
  8. The cover looks like it's only there for passenger comfort. So why not just leave it off unless you are carrying a passenger? Alternatively drop it over the bolt lugs and hold it in place with a strip of Velcro between the cover and the battery retaining strap? My front number plate is held on with Velcro and it's as firm as anything. Or clamp a piece of shock cord under the battery retaining nuts to hold the cover in place and to remove lift the shock cord and slide the cover out. A rubber strap would be an alternative.
  9. Does a battery on a trickle charger get hot? Maybe the type in the 620 does. Options to do what you describe would seem to include simple wing nuts, or for something marginally more elegant a knurled nut that you could spin off by hand. Is that the sort of thing you had in mind?
  10. It's only one bolt and one clamp to remove the silencer so would make sense to do that. Plus two springs if you want the collector / cat off. Oh and unplug the lambda sensor cable.
  11. Hi Malcolm, I have no idea what the answer is but as you posted the same question on lotuselan.net I am curious as to what the engine is in! As you can see from my id photo, I have a foot in both camps. regards Mark PS, I have the "Choke" cold start device on the Elan (Webers) but in over 20 years of ownership I have never touched it.
  12. I have twin stripes and ppf over the top. In fact just about every vulnerable surface has been done. 6 years on, no issues with air bubbles. Installed by the gentleman referenced above.
  13. Hi OG, I have the same on my 2012 Supersport SV. IIRC there were no instructions for mirror mounts. You may have different mirrors to me but i just offered them up and drilled what looked about right. There is plenty of adjustment in the mirrors so an extra few mm either way on the side ones doesn’t make much difference. There will be some comments on the length of the stem for the center mirror as to whether you can see the inside front wheel or not but that will be down you your seating position in the car. BTW, CC kindly pxed my standard mirrors at list price against a set of carbon ones but that was during the build period so that may not work for you. Also top tip for the side mirrors is to drill a third hole between the bolting holes so you can adjust the stem without removing the mirrors from the aero screen (although I confess I have not done that yet as I spent some time fitting and removing to get them right before I learned that). if a picture would be useful, let me know.
  14. I just kept them on the windscreen. Then when you run with no doors you still have mirrors.
  15. Mine work fine grounded to the wing stay. Mind you I bolted the wings too.
  16. I would be interested in your findings. I would like one big enough to cope with a 3.6l diesel and while a few claim to get up there I would be interested in more evidence. You won’t know it works until you need to try it for real.
  17. I have full hood, hood bag, tonneau, full doors, half doors (all CC), half hood, normal shower cap (SBFS), aeroscreen, full windscreen and lightweight full car cover. Some might say I am indecisive but I can run in all sorts of configurations depending on the weather. The tonneau does get used, especially with aero and one half door fitted. Half hood is useful but I find that you do get wet as the rain gets sucked in from behind through the gap. I have an SV so maybe different for the tiddlers! Also depends if you plan to carry SWMBO where I find the tolerances require the full hood and doors to be fitted! Agree that the DRE shift lights will save you some cash.
  18. Yep, I have the peashooter on a Supersport 140 and it’s magnificent. On a track (with no noise limits) the loud wail it makes was commented on by a number of other 7ers. To reduce the noise I have a modified R500D repackable silencer which I bought second hand. Note if you go this way, the sigma 4 into 1 is a different diameter to the Duratec - hence the need to modify!
  19. IIRC My BMW diff also came with a sachet of some magic solution that needed to be added to look after the LSD. That took a bit of thinking to get it in. The diff oil I squirted in using a Draper oil syringe ( I don’t think it’s called that but thats what it looks like).
  20. The carbon ones seem to keep their appearance pretty well. I did get PPF up the exposed edge which the stoneguard doesn’t cover and for some distance above the stoneguard.
  21. Three coats of Stoneguard went on the underside of all of my wheel arches before assembly for exactly that purpose. Simple to apply.
  22. Hi John, I have a Supersport 140 that I built in 2012 and has a full CC service history. Mine has always behaved as you describe. Sometimes the hunting gets to the point that the engine stops and I just restart it. CC have adjusted it over the years so it will start and run while hunting without stalling. After a few mins it ticks over smoothly so I have never really worried about it. I just put it down to part of running a Caterham. regards, Mark.
  23. As an alternative the BJ TT Minor easily takes an SV and fits through a single width garage door as that’s what I have. Tows really easily.
