  1. New build. Engine started for the first time yesterday. Sigma engined supersport. Came to run the wiper motor tonight with no arms to establish park position. Spindles make two sweeps and blow the fuse. Change fuse and exactly the same happens - blow second fuse. No more fuses left but I can guess what would happen if I carry on. Interestingly as the spindles do their sweep the speedo blips to about 15 mph briefly. the engine is switched off, this is just off the ignition position. Anything obvious to check? Mark.
  2. Thanks for your replies. Looks like I am fine for the time being. Regards Mark
  3. I am at that stage of the build where I have to torque up the rear hubs. Manual says 81nm will do until you can bleed the brakes and use that to lock the disc. I have tried bracing the wheel studs against the floor but when I get to about 60 nm the car is trying to lift itself off the axel stands so can't get any tighter. Any hints? Mark Supersport SV
  4. Andrew, If you pm me with your email address I will send you the photos which Sean sent me. With these and the manual I managed to work it all out. The bit that foxed me was the need to create an oil catch tank which 2 of the hoses go into and is not mentioned in the manual, and the fact that I was missing a short L shaped hose which connects to the water outlet on the front left of the engine. You do seem to have pretty much worked it out though. Regards Mark Supersport SV
  5. Thanks Ian, I have pm ed you on the handbrake hole question. Assuming I have worked out how send a pm! Regards Mark
  6. I have just got to this point and grateful for the advice above. My switch has two free terminals plus the earth wire. One completes the circuit to earth with the switch open and one with it closed. There is only one cable to connect! I have gone for switch open (ie pull on handbrake) completes the circuit on the basis that it is supplied with a current and making the earth lights the bulb. This assumes there is a bulb of course! Does this sound right? Nothing on the wiring diagram i can see. Regards Mark Supersport SV
  7. Interesting. My gearbox is now in the car but the pick list says 36G003C. It didnt come in a box. Delivered at about the same time as yours.
  8. Ratios emailed to me by CC for supersport box (3.6, 1.97, 1.37, 1, 0.87 - final drive 3.92) and below the standard 5 speed ratios from their web site. Transmission 5 Speed 1st: 3.36:1 2nd: 1.81:1 3rd: 1.26:1 4th: 1.00:1 5th: 0.82:1 Final Drive: 3.62:1 Spot the difference! Mark.
  9. This is all a bit of a mystery. I was shipped a 3.6 diff for my supersport and I only knew because that's what it said on the box and the shipping note. I queried it Caterham agreed and shipped out a new diff (with a label stuck on saying 3.9). I asked how to check if I had the supersport gearbox to be told they cannot source the close ratio box any more and so what I have is a standard 5 speed box. Again, not obvious from the outside as far as I can tell. I do have both sets of ratios on paper at home and there was not a lot in it. Supersport box (from memory) had slightly quicker 1st and second ratio and then caught up. Top is slightly longer in the standard 5 speed meaning slightly less revs at same speed. Tim at Caterham told me that it's the diff that makes the difference and in practice I probably would not notice the difference. Only time will tell when I finish building the car. If you want them I can get the ratios for you later. I think the standard 5,speed ratios are on the web site. Regards Mark
