  1. I have one of those in my Elan. Originals are like hens teeth - especially if you want the one with the pump as part of the lid. Did they get fitted to 7s as well?
  2. Same as MartinH above, and I haven't even fitted the aero yet! Waiting for carbon fibre mirrors to arrive from CC and then should be good to go.

That would be me as well. Two spots in one day! Bad day, weather wise, to drive to Dartford. Drove for a hour this morning in heavy rain on M25. Not fun. Left Dartford this afternoon in rain which stopped just as I got to M25 and the sun came out. Stuck with roof on in sun in traffic - warm! As soon as I got off M25, roof removed and normal service resumed.
  4. That would be me on the way home from Dartford having just had my 1000 mile service.
  5. Two this morning, silver with black wings on trailer towed by rangerover and silver with yellow (?) wings being driven. About 0715.
  6. Thanks all, 1000 mile service today and factory says what Peter says. Now I have shortened the breather pipes so I am not running my own mini oil fogging machine under the bonnet, it is as it should be.
  7. It's a sigma 1.6. Up to 4000 revs for first 500 miles and now building up with mixed usage of throttle.
  8. Having had a reasonable run yesterday I find I have about 2 cm in my catch tank. It may not have all come from yesterday afternoon and I only really noticed it as a fine dribble of oil started to appear coming out from the side of the bonnet. I currently have the breather pipes all the way to the bottom of the bottle (there are two pipes on the supersport). I guess I have been blowing bubbles through the liquid in the tank and generating a fine oil spray. I will be shortening the pipes to have them just hanging in the catch tank. Question. Would you expect to find this much in the catch tank? Engine is brand new with 900 miles on it. Oil level is still on the top of the dipstick. Regards Mark

Well done. Your first proper run out is one you will remember for a long time. Next comes upgradeitus! Regards Mark.
  10. That would be me and junior Pugwash just "popping out to get a pint of milk". No aero (yet, it's in the garage waiting to be fitted), but we were running with the half doors fitted. We are in Naphill so that was the final part of the blat, up the hill. Regards Mark
  11. Just placed order for 8. On back order but should be in within a week or so.

    BMW Diff

Mine makes a sort of clunk when pulling away and similar when lifting off. Having never had a car where I could listen to the LSD before I just assumed TADT. PBC at CC was less than a month ago and will be back for the 1000 mile first service in a few weeks. I will ask them to confirm if this is a normal thing or not. Dont really know how the LSD works but have seen a stripped down drive shaft so I get the point about that could be the reason for the clunk.
  13. I had a 1.8 Freelander. 24 mpg was about what I got with mixed town and motorway driving. Almost did not matter how i drove it thats what i got. It is a quite heavy not very aerodynamic lump so to keep it bowling along at reasonable motorway speeds the motor it having to put some effort in.
  14. Lead time on IVA appears to be variable. My car passed its IVA on Thursday. I applied for this over 8 weeks before! I was told 4 -5 weeks lead time so applied and at the same time booked it into CC for the PBC 5 weeks from postage date. All finished in time for the PBC and then had to sit on hands and wait for IVA. CC endeavoured to get a cancellation but no such luck. Get that paperwork done!
  15. It was the one about the wheels.

I bolted my cycle wings on coz i am old fashioned. They did not come marked with places to drill but if you ask Sean he will send you a nice picture with the drill points measured from the front edge which may answer your how far forward question. Gearbox filling is straight forward if you do it from above. Some clear pipe taped along a piece of long thin wood with funnel taped on. Bend 2 to 3 inches at right angle on the end and then lower from above down to the gearbox and poke the right angle bit into the filler hole. Warm oil. Pour slowly. Mine took a fair amount less than the manual said. Comment above about using a cut off piece of the allen key and a ratchet spanner was spot on for me. Couple of other things not in the manual. Loctite the bolts - propshaft to diff. The flexible brake hose needs one less washer than it says in the manual or it will not tighten up properly. Applies to the front two as well. Both tips from Sean. Regards Mark

You can see why I suggested giving a good kicking first. Another useful tip, once you have popped out the flanges then fill the diff with oil. Pop the half shafts in if you want, but you don't need to. The BMW diff will take its proper fill of oil without it coming out the sides. I verified this by then pulling the half shafts back out ( which you have to do anyway when you build up the dedion) and no oil came out. Filling now stops lots of faffing about later when the rear is all built up. Either make a funnel and tube up to fill it, which you will need to fill the gearbox anyway (plus a piece of dowel), or you can get for about £15 a draper large metal oil syringe (500ml) and just squirt it in. Regards Mark
  18. On a new build you attach the brackets during the suspension build up and the lights some time later. If you do fit them separately you need to put a mouse wire down through the bracket as you fit it and then use this to draw through all the other wires one at a time when the headlight and indicator goes on. If you can't wait, the.manual and the IVA guide are both downloadable from the caterham web site. Regards Mark Ps had my post build check today so it's all still very fresh in my mind. One tip, go out tomorrow and give the diff a good kicking. You will feel better later!
  20. Andrew, On mine the DD clears the chassis rails by about 2mm when on the axle stands in the way you describe. Not sure if SV is different. Mark
  21. I have just finished my SV supersport. Off the stands I have 3 inches under the sump. CC advise 85mm is the min. Rear does look high on mine but may be effect of 13 inch wheels. Spring adjusters are as they came out of the box. It is going to CC for PBC on Friday and I have asked them to wind it up a bit to something a bit more useable on the road. Regards Mark
  22. Turned out to be a dodgy switch. I do like Hell Boys comment though. I do have an aero but not fitted at the moment - perhaps the car is trying to tell me something!
