  1. Interesting business model to extract more money!
  2. I see the summer 2020 sailing timetable is now out and there appears to be changes in the pricing in regards to size of reservation deposits from last year.
  3. Hi Nick, yes I have used both and this is a slightly different product as the water content of the emulsion evaporates off and leaves a very thin oily coating. Scottoiler FS 365 works in a number of ways to reduce corrosion. Pure water on it’s own will not cause corrosion, however as soon as it comes into contact with the atmosphere it absorbs acidic gases such as carbon dioxide that do. This is where FS 365 comes in. FS 365 is formulated using mild alkalis and chemical compounds known as pH buffers that work to balance out the acidic elements. The process of rusting and oxidising requires water vapour, air and time (salt and heat speed up this process as catalysts to the reaction). FS 365 acts as a corrosion inhibitor in two further ways: In general by supplying a lubricant to all metal surfaces which builds up as you re-apply, protecting them from the air. When it comes into contact with salt it reduces its catalytic effect on the corrosion process. FS 365 is a blend of mineral oil, surfactant, anti-corrosion additives and water, which forms a stable micro solution. This forms an effective layer of protection against corrosion, clinging to all surfaces and building up over time with each application. FS 365 is water soluble and readily biodegradable which further helps when it comes to cleaning as any dirt which sticks to the FS layer is easily washed away. So, in essence, FS 365 works as a barrier protector as well as disrupting the chemical processes involved in corrosion. With continued re-application, FS 365 makes cleaning the bike easier and builds up layers of protection.
  4. A very good product, often used on Motorcycles to combat corrosion from water/salt is Scottoiler FS365. Easy to apply to the underneath of the car by just using the spray followed by a quick wipe with a rag. It's an oil emulsion that leaves a very thin protective coating on the the car. Can be found for around £10 a litre on the net. Easily cleaned off in the spring. Thoroughly recommend it after using it on bikes for years.
  5. No simple way as it's the gelcoat that's damaged not only as a chip but star cracked as well. If it was me I'd investigate a 'Chips Away' type business and see what they can suggest and it's cost.
  6. Ok Garth, send me a message or post when you get back and I'll have it thanks. Have a good trip. Martyn
  7. Yes Garth, still after one. Let me know if you locate it and how much you're looking for it.
  8. For touring consider the Half Hood holder which fixes to the roll bar on top of the boot, this is at additional cost. They will also stitch in colour coded piping if you ring them up and order over the phone.
  9. Have had both SBFS and Thundersport/Oxted versions in the past. Have just had to buy a new half hood for a new car and chose, without hesitation, the Thunders/Oxted version for the following reasons. 1. Wanted Mohair - the Thundersport mohair is really good quality having had both in the past. 2. The side strap attachment arrangement is far better on the Thundersport version. I like some others have had the SBFS side strops 'pop' off under tension.
  10. If anyone has one surplus to requirements. Vinyl or Mohair.
  11. During my 9 years of ownership of 4 different cars Caterham seem to have changed their recommended Lubricant suppliers at least 3 times. Comma, Millers and now Motul. In my new Seven owner's handbook it has a large Motul Sticker crudely stuck in covering the printed previous recommended Miller information. Do you think Caterham change suppliers for commercial partnership reasons or purely technical or both?
  12. I tried fitting it myself on my first car. Like John Vine, flat or single curvature was found to be relatively easy but suffice to say I ended up having to buy a second nose kit! From then on I paid for professional fitting.
  13. I've just had a new car fitted with the full kit from Dave Wood (PPG) and cannot recommend him enough. the full kit I asked for consisted of Front edges of the front mudguards, Front of rear Mudguards (I had the Carbon guards covered as well), Patch below the petrol cap, Strips down the round edge of the rear curved entry into the car (prone to seat belt buckle damage), Full sized side cover from front wheel to rear. two patches on the bonnet where the door studs rub when opening the doors, Front of nose cone. Yes you pay for his travel but the quality of his work is excellent. I've regretted not having the full kit on previous cars especially if you follow other Caterhams with sticky tyres which flick up a mass of stones. 10% off if your a member of the L7 Club

    Paint

When I received my kit build some years ago, a pot of touch up paint came with it. But only for the body colour. Not sure if this still happens.
  15. Has anybody got one of the Caterham ones or something Caterham specific tucked away they would like to sell?
  16. Not quite the Midlands but I recommend Clive Kenrick at LLangollen. Caterham authorised. Knows the cars inside out!
  17. Can confirm the noise reduction capabilities of these exhausts, it was my R500 in the Raceco image link.
  18. Thanks Chaps, it's just for the insurance declarations
  19. Can someone tell me the exact CC ofthe 2L 620 engine please?
  20. Awaiting response re Half Hood Rich, message sent to you. Martyn
  21. If you press the clutch and the noise goes it can often be the first motion shaft in the gearbox which is quite normal but I've never heard it described as a rumble.
  22. Rich Tea - BC Message sent
  23. Hi David I've cleared some old messages so try sending again. Martyn
  24. They are black Steve Day, see the image link at the top of the post. Also Tom isn't selling these things he's buying!
