  1. Chaps - did they require 750 Motor Club membership requirement for the purchase as per website?

    R888R v NS2R

Tin Man - please do report back when tyres warm and you do 'push on'.....I and plenty of others I am sure would be interested how the Nankang's grip compared to A021 and the feel/confidence when approaching the limit.
  3. I would recommend putting FOR SALE in the title....this should sell very quickly at the price You might want to add with/without CAT in the can
  4. Have you checked the throttle stop position and free movement of the throttle cable cable? Try opening the stop by a quarter of a turn at a time and lock.
  5. Thanks Foggy. Good advice, don't want to have a Caterham and find I have to slow down for the twisty stuff.
  6. Sunday 21st according to website.....so you don't go buying car stuff on mothers' day, not many prizes for that
  7. Thanks for these repies, I am a fair weather driver in the Caterham, not a tourer in all weathers, and a big reason I drive a Caterham is for grip that you don't get in ordinary cars. After my 14" AO21's expire I think Toyo R888R's are the answer. Albeit they will cost more than the Uniroyals and Nankangs, probably about twice the price, but they should last me a good few years. If I get caught out in the rain, which for my use of the car is bad planning, I'll take it very carefully.
  8. For dry weather grip can Nankang and Uniroyal users comment how they compare to the venerable Yokohama A021R?
  9. When I am planning a project that is largely unfamiliar, that may or may not get done in the end, I do a google site search of lotus7.club and opening sufficient links to allow me to understand the options and opinions of others. Then I will copy/paste into MS word or such a summary of what are the main considerations, options, tasks, what to buy, top tips etc. It would not really represent a publishable document for others, but it helps me organise my thoughts from the vast knowledge on TechTalk. Clearly the broken links from 'old' blatchat are a nuisance, but it is what it is. The looking and finding of the information has its own element of fun as you invariably stumble on some other 'gem' worth reading. Do others take this or similar approaches?
  10. Saw an opportunity for launching this topic.....no question or knowledge imparted
  11. Ian - let us know how you get on. I could do with some yellow spray paint for the 7 in the grill.
  12. Interesting to see how this develops. I contacted Oxted a short while ago about seat refurbishment cost with their kit and they said.... "Our seat back refurb. kits (£53.22) contain the seat plastic and the foams found in the seat back. UK carriage is an additional £12.00." Not too bad in the whole scheme of things, plus think we might get club discount. In the end I didn't go for it, but still might in the future. For the odd hole on the seat back that had split, I ended up re-drilling the seat back holes 5-6mm inboard from where they are now and securing with cable ties, plus adding one or two new additional holes for extra load sharing.
  13. Used Rimmer Brothers for my refurbished calipers, can recommend
  14. Beware of cheap imitations of fuel hose on ebay etc. with claimed correct specifications, a few posts on here (do a google site search for fuel hoses) showing how they have rapidly degraded. You have to go to the right shop and pay the right price (higher, than ebay), don't ask how I know.
  15. The early bird catches the worm......If John's doesn't work out for whatever reason or you happen to be nearer to Leicester, then I also have one gathering dust in the garage.
  16. Worth a punt for £34 delivered at ebay?
  17. Assuming you have a Type 9 gearbox then a good place to start is the speedo drive gear which is a small replaceable component with different colours and ratios, also you could look to get a modified speedo angle drive with a custom ratio to adjust, check the archives with a google search there is lots on this topic.
  18. I had A539's on my car some years ago, the grip was poor IMO compared to the A021 and have stuck with A021 since, but will need to get 4 x new ones soon. If you want good grip, I think you need to go semi-slick/trackday road legal tyres not a standard road tyre but the downside can be wet weather performance.
  19. Adding the picture to your post might help with car/owner recognition?
  20. That's great for posting up the details, hopefully a long time before anyone else needs it, hope the installation goes smoothly.
  21. Toby, for the archive and future search's could you add a link or part number for the part you eventually settled on?
  22. At the club's Donington 60th they had such a device. I have a 1.6k in an unusual set-up; 5 speed box, 3.62 diff and carrying a spare wheel....'touring' spec. you might call it The car has a 4-2-1 powerspeed exhaust and DVA 13A kit (verniers, light porting, 633 grind cams...), standard ECU. The car was doing 5.5 / 5.4 seconds to 60mph typically Clearly a 10% diff. ratio change to make it more 'sprinty' would help and ditching the rear wheel carrier.....maybe 5 seconds?? Oh...I only weigh about 60Kg....too heavy for a jockey, but about the right height!
  23. I have a short primary 4-1 (inside skin) system that I wish to sell. I will send you a BM.
  24. Sim, less than 2m from previous archive postings is what I based my purchase on.
