  1. The voltage regulator linked to is for a DC Dynamo and is a relic of a bygone era. AC alternators with built in rectifiers/regulators are all you ever see on modern cars. Different story if we where looking at a Classic.
  2. Absolutly correct Dave as always, however if circlip rusts or fails it is possible with a front wheel off ground for whole cabudel to fall apart. Each mans choice, and I know better that to run up against you in Caterham tech matters. I just wanted to point out the pitfalls. I'll go back to sleep now. 😬
  3. Guys can I just point out that for the correct functioning of the spherical bearing it is essential that the outer does not turn in the wishbone. If as someone stated they can be pushed in and out with a thumb you already have a problem as each turn of the wheel will make the outer race looser in the wishbone. Make sure if they are that loose that you use some bearing retainer, if that fails replace the wishbone,as otherwise your complete front suspension is being held together with a miniscule circlip. I've replaced both wishbones on my car due to this problem.

    Diff Oil

Weve discussed gear oil for 6 speeds for yrs Simple redline MTL No point in reinventing wheel. Remember we have an excellent search facility on BC and most problems will have been discussed to death many many times before they arrive at your door. Oh and I too would avoid Slick in a Caterham box.
  5. 1st suspect is rear light block, provided side light wire integrity is 100% feeding throught headlamp bracket
  6. Relief valve is ared herriing it only blows off excess pressure does not cause reduced pressure ar revs. I suggest exact amount of oil recommended, and see where that comes on dipstick, sounds to me like you are aeriating the oil. Just my opinion mind quite happy to be proved wrong.
  7. Carefully check your level sounds like windage to me.
  8. If you find you have no 12v feed remove boot floor I have found a few now where the wire has got crushed and gone OC. Routing needs to be carefully checked in that area.
  9. Have you got repeaters on front wings first place to look for a short IMHO
  10. One either side of car obviously at the fwd mounting point for the A frame.
  11. Theres a Haynes manual on ECUs written by our very own Dave Walker of Emerald, should do the job of getting you started down the understanding road
  12. Dual guages comprising in any mix Oil press and Temp, Water temp and Volts I've left outFuel level because IMHO it doesn't need the digital acuracy that the others do. Edited by - Johnty Lyons on 20 Nov 2012 14:26:17
  13. Commiseations not a happy outcome and a warning to others. IMHO the G forces on a Caterham engine with the cars legendry road holding will ALWAYS create serious surge and starvation in any wet sump car. So track withgreat care, any car anyengine that is tracked regularly should Ibelieve be dry sumped. I'll get me coat.
  14. Well with 15 you'll have less rubber between rim and road so harsher ride, you'll not have nearly as big a selection of rubber, and it will cost more. However with todays youth's fascination with bigger wheels you'll fit right in. 😬 😬 😬
  15. Missed this one until Alex posted a pic on FB. Wow can I have one Please.
  16. I know Hoopy hates them but my full suite of SPA Digitals have stood me in good stead and given me accurate info for years with no problem.
  17. I'm quite a senile old git, but have been around ( and worked professionally in) motorsport for over 50 yrs. IMHO I have never understood why Caterham offer the car with a cosmetic road bar. The car has no air bags, and in any serious accident the driver and passanger are very exposed. You need all the protection you can get, 99% of time in an accident it will not be your fault but the other idiot who didn't see you or realize how quickly you where approaching, I've seen the results of some very nasty accidents on the road involving se7ens, in each case if there hadnt been an FIA bar and a full harness the outcome would have been very different. Just my senile wanderings. JJ
  18. Dosent really matter wether its a two minute shop trip or a 6 hr blat its a seven You should be very glad of your harness.
  19. If there is no dispute as to fault considering you location there is only one answer .Send it back home to Bruce at Arch. Madness to even think with a se7 en of going elswhere.
  20. I've run a K for 15 yrs had engine in and out countless times and Never had a pproblem with cooling. The secret is in the bypass. Cct itis that link from the head round back of engine to stat that. Controls everything. Get air out of that and hot water from head will open stat and bobs your uncle. I just cant see why everyonemakes such a fuss abouut something so simple.Rember air migrates to higest poinht and on 99% of Ks that is the bypas hose.
  21. Tomb you've obviously got a diferent manual from me. 😬
