  1. Disagree with previous two comments you will find provided you scrape the wing stays to key the surface that the adhesive will grip like **** to a blanket smile.gif in fact the wing will disintegratesad.gif before the joint fails. The whole point in using adhesive is to get rid of the unsightly bolts. jj
  2. I run a big braked 180BHP K and since changing to M1144 have had no problems however I will be changing to the Race master cyl this year but this is only for feel. jj
  3. Dave J has it, this is a well known problem. If you have a heater, open the valve ,then jack the car in the air so that a level line from the top of the header tank is above the top of the heater{[F*****G high mate]smile.gifyoull need a block of wood on top of a std trolley jack under the cruciform,} matrix run the car up to temp filling the rad NOTsad.gif through the header tank but through the bleed screw at the top hose position, also ensure that the bleed valve in the head beside the dipstick, is working [they gum up awfully easy ] and use only Rover pure 4yr antifreeze DO NOT DILUTE. Comma do a similar product. jj Edited by - Johnty Lyons on 29 Dec 2001 21:46:39
  4. Stick a diode in the fan cct the back EMF from the fan running on creates enough energy to hold the ECU on and the ECU switches its own current the ign feed is only a start up device. Been there Done that Got the T-Shirt. jj
  5. Tony se my posting on this list I have the complete guts of a 1.6 for sale and that with Jenvy bodies piper cams and A DVA style head should get you into the 170+ power band Personally I cannot speak highly enough of the Emerald M3DK unit the after sales and Map library[try oiley hands] are second to none. jj
  6. Peter just the man I'm upgrading to 1.8 this winter and Grade A liners with Forged pistons rev limit at 7800 Pace dry sump and Laminova oil/water intercooler any recommendations on oil pump or bearing shells?? jj
  7. Stick an AVO across the battery and take a few readings that should give you more info to reduce the possibilities. Saying that Ks have a well known starter problem but it usually is either start or dead not slow turning over. Does the car lie for a long time unused? if so a battery conditioner such as an Airflow can work wonders but not if the batt is already knacked. jj
  8. My wife [nurse] uses the 180BHP K to commute to hospital summer and winter she won't drive on anything else but 032's cost me a fortune in rubber she do!!!! jj
  9. Due to the onset of Winter I am fettling my 1.6K DVA and will have for disposal the engine internals As some of you know it's been a very reliable low milage 1.6 SS but is moving to 1.8 with Grade A liners and forged pistons, dry sump, laminova etc, etc, so if any of the discarded bits are any good to anyone give me a bell. jj
  10. At your age john you shouldn't be loking at VBH youll set that young son of yours a bad example. jj
  11. Rodger is as usuall correct I will risk abuse here but you can't go far wrong with a set of direct to head bodies direct from Jenvyes and a M3DK direct from Emerald there are more K's on this set up than any other and a vast amount of knowledge on here and "The List" But you Tony knew that before you asked you just wanted reassurance. One point steer clear of Demon Thieves. Do a DVA head as well:-) and get yourself some serious HP. jj Edited by - Johnty Lyons on 23 Dec 2001 21:50:23

  13. Na I'll go with Oileys diagnosis worn guide i'll bet. Is it still on Hydraulic or did you fit DVA shims it will rattle a bit when cold but strip it anyway and go for forged pistons if you can't afford that I will have within the next week of so a complete 1.6 Bottom end liners /pistons/rods/crank for disposal if any of it is any use it will be at DVA's in Jan. jj
  14. Try Dave Andrews website for all things related to K upgrades I run a Mild 180 BHP 1.6 K which is basically An Andrews head Piper cams solid lifters TBs and an Emerald [Dave Walker CCC] Managment! Others on this list will testify to its performance and many have followed my example and gone much further Peter C being one Have you red his recent articles in Low Flying??? jj
