  1. A cry from the colonies we have a member in N.I. who is booked for SVA to-morrow at 09:00 and its a brand new Caterham 1.8K with the digital speedo The box had to go back not selecting gears and the speedo, Needle working but no Milage readout, both are back this weekend and midnight oil has been burnt we have two speedo head from the factory booth guaranteed working the wiring appears to be OK the speedo powers up and the mileometer shows , as you sw on and off the milometer changes by .01 but on road neither speedo or milometer work on either guage it has taken 11wks to get the SVA appointment and the car is booked as well to go to Scotland with the se7ens crowd at the weekend for the Haggis Hunt. Any ideas Help????? jj
  2. Many thanks Peter I seem to be getting somewhere, one of the problems I had was the IACV leaking air, and no matter if I put in in Manual control, and pag up; pag dwn; in Live adj the bugger would not close. So I had to bung it up and am having more succes now pity really as I've had it plumbed in since the start but only got to use it [correction try to use it ] on the latest box. jj
  3. Pc bumming about size again. we ain't all got big ones Peter! jj
  4. Ah the old questionsmile.gif yep and if you have a heater loosen the j clip on the top one of the two to allow any trapped air out. on what you put in there I can heartily recommend Unipart 4yr not 2yr summer coolant NEAT as it comes from the container and possibly some water wetter keeps the corrosion and deposits at bay and drops the mean temp by around 7/10 deg. jj
  5. Yes very many thanks Dave I know you told me this before and I am gratefull, but Andy's map is not for an M3DK and Simons was so far out the car would not start and even with severe modding and started would not run The FPR is Different and the injector scaling. Remember my car is one of the oldest along with Bernards running an M3DK and the Caterham set up was quite different on the old 1.6s Ive resorted to my old map with an overall 13,5% hike in the fuelling but havn't touched thr ign as yet At least it starts and runs.Any further words of wisdom appreciated. jj
  6. SO WITHOUTB A ROLLING ROAD CLEVER CLOGS[bLOODY NORWEGIANS ALL THE SAME :-))] JUST HOW DO YOU WORK OUT THE FUELLING REQUIREMENTS. jj
  7. Johnty Lyons

    M3Dk

Is it aconcidence that with a change in engine capacity from 1.6 to 1.8 it requires the same % increase in the fuelling to get the mixture into the green on the lambda bar graphs as the % increase in capacity. Or am I over simplifying things. jj
  8. I find it's actually easier if you lock the f/wheel via the aperature just below the clutch cable entry as the top gear brakes method still allows a fair bit of flex, I would be suprised if the locating spud is worn down just depends how long the crank pully has been slipping it would be near impossible with the size of the flat fro the timing to have slipped and if it had it would have done so big tim and the car would have stopped it's either there or not no half way house so don't panic Tony.smile.gif Boy am I glad I do all my own work!!!!
  9. Ta Dave appreciate your comments and help will see what transpires. jj
  10. Dave had a call this AM from a guy who got my name from somewhere Anyhow he's running or trying to run a new to him Pinto2ltr on 45s its going but performing v badly and returning 12 Mpg can you give me the mains /airs/ emulsions and anything else I might need as a starting point I've no idea of whats in there untill I go and see the car sometime this weekend My understanding is that otherwise the lump is Std. jj
  11. Irun mine 14*185 at 17psi or 15/16 on hot track days. jj
  12. Trace the smaller pipe from your header tank back to the inlet manifold. It terminated is a small brass fitting wich is in effect a one way valve supposed to bleed trapped Cylinder head air back to the header tank. BUT it gums up and stops working so you get a build up of air in the head What we actually do now is drill it out completly removing the one way effect and the resultant v. small bleed of collant back to the header tank is of no consequence in the grand scheme. If its not done you can run into seroius damage in the K head department. jj
  13. Last post is the most important one!![:0] Since this thread started with a 1.4 K its got to be it, remove the induction and drill out the valve I'd put money on the fact that it's blocked.!!!!!!!! jj
  14. Nig i tend to agree but I'm waiting to see what way Pace are planning to handel their Dry sump drive as I believe there might be a light weight solution there Any how are you having a late lunch or just pretending to work Did Mick get you? jj
  15. IN ORDER NO NO YES WORKS FOR ME! jj
  16. This is really upsetting tell the girl she'll be doing her nut, and what about the poor moggie I can understand as our cats [11 at last count] love the car and even now when its on stands don't stay out of the garage and SAZ has paw prints all over her. jj

  18. Thanks Guys it's amazing the power of the Net and thanke to Hoopey for ringing Andy. I just don't want to give Pace any excuse for dragging this out any longer than necessary. jj
  19. Sorry had to nip out of office and help out the fitters am back now for another hour or so David Hooper is on the case but may need help from Andy M or anyone else. jj
  20. Ok Guys we need help just had David the MD from Pace on the phone Will somebody/anybody who can get Pace a polyV Caterham front crank pully and some measurements ring me NOW!!!!! 02890508608 jj
  21. What exactly is the roadsport exhaust ? The std Caterham exhaust is crap you need a decent 4/2/1 or at least the 4/1 competition exhaust. to maximise your gas movment, if you have this then go for cams and you will on a non vvc head get at least 170/180 Brake. jj
  22. Right we have 6folk still keen to go this route, armed with that I spent 1/2 hr on phone again last night with Neill at Pace they will push ahead quickly now and I have given them till 13th March when I will again annoy Neill by incessant calls. Those of you who know me will understand that I can be annoying and persuasive so I think Neill has by now got the message The only thing that is upsetting me at moment is Andy Murphy the guy who put in all the foot work in getting this thing started He is not replying to my e-mails and has made no response to any of postings on this , neither has Neill heard from him has anyone any idea what's up Cos I am definatly standing on his toes here and don't want the guy to thing I'm an interfering busybody[which unfortunatly I am teeth.gif jj
  23. The only problem at the moment is the plug compatibility of the EU3 loom Karl is working on this as we speak since he has a lot of potential sales riding on this one. Remember Emerald although one of the best aftermarket ECUs around in terms of ease of use programability ans service are only a two man operation and it does take them time BUT they always come up with the goods I'm afraid you just have to be patient. jj
  24. Timbo as a main Rover dealer you shouldn't be asking this on here your supposed to know the answers Now I've blown your cover what's you gon a do I know Ring Karl ,buy an Emerald told you that earlier.teeth.giftongue.gif jj
