  1. That's a good plan Oily, I'll give that a whirl, thanks very much. Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  2. Thanks Oily, still revs like buggery when throttle is shut. One thing I did notice is it sometimes revs to 3K, you can blip the throttle and it'll die to 1800rpm straight away? Did have a look around for air leaks , but couldn't find anything obvious. I'll keep looking! Cheers, Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  3. Spent all last night trying to trace the fault and came up with nothing. IACV doesn't seem to be a problem, it's moving freely and does what it should. What else should I be looking at/for? Help! Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  4. Hi Steve, i know a very good polisher We'll have to talk Saturday evening. Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  5. When we visited the factory last year, Quaife did say that the Ally case is less prone to failure and more able to cope with shock loadings, particularly with the dog engagement boxes. visit Carrotland.co.uk
  6. Hi Steve, Have been plotting something for my std exhaust. We'll have to talk sometime! Might well be able to help..... Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk

  10. Sorry mate, it was the reason I didn't drop in. By the time I'd got in from the garage, it was a bit too late. I'll drop in tonight. That's the problem with running the 7 as a daily driver, you need to get it sorted by the next day if the missus needs her own car! Still haven't found anything that has definitely caused the problem. I've just driven to work and it hasn't re-occurred. My money's on the IACV. visit Carrotland.co.uk
  11. Thanks, Will clean IACV. How do you reset ECU? It's a std MEMS unit. Cheers, Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  12. Just blatted back from work and found that my engine won't return to the normal idle speed, min revs I can get down to is 2000rpm. Also the revs die very slowy when changing between gears. Have ruled out sticky throttle pedal as all is free and when taking my foot off pedal, it snaps shut. I had another look a few minutes ago and it now seems normal even when hot As sure as eggs is eggs, it's going to happen again (probably on ice!) What else could cause this TMAP sensor? IACV? Anything else? Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  13. I'm interested. Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  14. Thanks, I'll give 'em a call. Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
  15. Well if you believe my speedo, my 1600 superlight can do 30-90mph in 0.25 secs. Problem is, it doesn't feel like it does! I'm pretty certain that it's the gauge itself that's the problem as the needle sometimes drops down to 0 mph, but the odometer keeps racking up the miles. It's the standard Caterham electronic speedo. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to cure it themselves? If not, does anyone know of a good speedo repair man I can call? Cheers, Ernie visit Carrotland.co.uk
