  1. Steve, Mine is a EU2 engine.
  2. Back to the top with reduced price ☹️ ☹️
  3. Tony , Just done mine in January 15,000. I phoned Caterham & they said that it was not a common problem ❗ You can replace the bearing by sliding the engine forward as I did, there is enough room to get your hand in & replace the bearing. Mine looked ok when I removed it, but with the new bearing i am squeal free Just got the cylinder head gasket to change now ☹️
  4. Chris, 15,000 miles. I had my 7 DVA`d in August. I did one airfield day where I had a problem with an air lock, as water shot out from the expansion bottle. I had it serviced the next day, and was not used for three months as I had to change the CRB. When I started it up I had white traces on the dip stick. I had noticed that the expansion bottle was empty after the lay up. I can only assume that I have a minor failure in the head gasket, as I can`t believe that condensation would make such a mess of my oil. I now have a bleed valve fitted. Simple moral to the story, make sure you bleed ALL the air out of the system.
  5. Dropped the sump today & the oil pickup was clogged with bits of foam I have the car seviced at a Caterham agent so I am very annoyed, as this should have been changed during my service . I have had a suspected head gasket problem, and the bottom of the sump full of white sludge I am quite sure now that the head gasket has failed What does the foam do? I have a Oil air separater fiited do I need to fit the foam. Thank you
  6. I have replaced the oil pressure sender today, but I am still not getting any oil pressure. I have checked the gauge by shorting it to ground. I did manage to drop the new sender when fitting it, could I have broken it? If not my next step will be to drain all my new oil and check the foam baffle. I have the car serviced at a Caterham agent so the baffle should have been changed at the specified interval.
  7. Just been ot for a run today after changing my oil & filter. Running pressure was 4 bar when hot. When I next looked at the the gauge it had dropped to the edge of the red zone. Bliping the throtle made no difference. Oil level is fine. Any ideas what the problem might be 🤔 Thank you
  8. I may have a head gasket problem so the coolant needs to be checked for hydrocarbons. All my local garages are very reluctant to do the test for me. What make of car is it? Oh we don`t do them , but you service the engine *mad* *mad* Can I buy a test kit anywhere, and do the test myself 🤔 Thank you.
  9. I had a problem with an air lock in the system at a track day in October. The car had a full service and MOT the next day with no problems indicated. My 7 has not been run since then as I had to change the CRB. On moving the engine I noticed that the oil in the oil air separator was milky. I checked the oil in the sump and that was clean. I have now fitted the engine and started it with a milky deposit now showing on the dip stick. I can only conclude that the gasket has failed, but I am puzzled why the sump oil was clean. Any Ideas? Andy any good tips for changing the head gasket. Thank you
  10. Dave, Store it in a Carcoon. It will keep your 7 nice & dry over the winter.
  11. Back to the top with reduced price ☹️
  12. Sacha, I run a 1.8 k ported head, 285h cams DTH throttle bodies. I have just had it mapped at Dave Walkers. 185Bhp at 7500rpm Ticks over at 950rpm and pulls right through the rev range. Runs better than my old Supersprort. I would think your reliability is down to the mapping of the Emerald ECU, or cam timing. All the best
  13. I have for sale the following: 1999 K Series S/S kit. Cams, ECU, Fuel rail, Pressure regulator. All have done 14,000 miles. Price £300.00 or offers £20.00 to NTL which I will pay & P&P Drop me an e-mail if you require anymore info. I think the pressure regulator needs to go with the kit. can anyone advise? 14. David I have just gone the DVA K05 kit It as made a huge difference to the car. 5000 RPM to 7500RPM in a flash & very good in slow traffic, infact beter than the old supersport. I am off to Emerald the get it mapped on the rolling road soon which should make it even better. The veriers allow for very accurate cam timing. Dave will tel you the the cam timing from Caterham is a long way out. I think that DVA Sevens will hold their price in the open market. The kit is a very neat installation & I went for the air box to keep the induction noise down. Give Dave a ring you will find him very friendly & helpful. All the best

    Replacing CRB

It sounds like will have to change my CRB 14,000 miles. Is it worh changing to a light weight flywheel & competition AP clutch while the engine is out. I have a 180BPH K-Seris with 6 Speed box. Thank you

    Fitting a CRB

sounds like my CRB is on the way out, as I have a loud grinding noise when the clutch is pushed in ☹️ Is it an engine out job, or can it be pushed forward enough to get the hand inside the bell housing. My 7 has done 14,000 miles. Any other tips would be appreciated . All the best

    diffs

I have just had my 1.8 K-Series 6 speed DVA`D I have a 3.92 standard diff. I would like to fit a 3.62 diff which I will probably get from a scrap yard & get it reconditioned. Which Siera do I need to obtain this from? It is possible to a XR4X4i LSD to a 7 has anyone tried this & what modifications need to be made. Thank you
  18. So it`s a diet for the new year then Gary 😬 Have a great Christmas John
  19. Andy I got Caterham to send me a nice cardboard template with the exhaust. I marked it out with a eye liner pencil & used plenty of masking tape to protect the body. I cut the hole to the pencil line with a dremel & used the tape to support the peice I was cutting. I then finished it off by using a file to remove the aluminium to the out part of the pencil line. Just take your time. All the best.
  20. I agree with Chris. Get a Carcoon. A dehumidifier will not work in a cold garage.
