  2. Hi Nick I use Redline MTL which was recommended by Road Race Transmissions. I did change my engine mounts, but they looked ok. I bought 2 bottles when I did mine. Opie Oils are competitive and offer a delivery service. I think we get a club discount too. John
  3. Hi Steve I have Nick Smith's instructions which may be of help, I have sent you a message. John
  4. If you are using the the old type gasket it may pay to drill two or three holes in the wide section to help drain the oil back in to the sump.
  5. Well, started the 7 up today and the rev counter was working.
  6. Hi Jonathan Thank you for your reply. I did drive past RNAS Culdrose on my blat! I will have a good look at the wiring this weekend to see if all the connections are good. It was working when I parked the car up at home, but failed to work when I stated it up again. A copy of the wiring diagram may be useful. Many thanks for your help. John
  7. Good evening all My rev counter has stopped working. I'm pretty sure I heard a clicking sound before it stopped working. Anyone have any ideas what the issue might be? Many thanks.
  8. Lubrication of the lower spherical joints has done the trick. Many thanks
  9. The spacer washers are as per the manual. I will try lubrication first? Thanks for all the replies.
  10. Good morning all I've found my steering to be very heavy over the years and it has a reluctance to self centre. I spotted a post on Facebook where an owner had a similar issue. They resolved this issue by loosening the big nut on the rack and adjusting the locking pin in the middle and re-tightening the big nut. Apparently, this transformed the operation of the rack. As anyone else had this issue and resolved it in the same manner. Many thanks John
  11. Going to take the 7 on a dual carriageway and see if it does this in the lower gears.
  12. Hi everyone I have noticed a whine when on throttle which starts at around 4,500 RPM, which I assume is from the transmission. If I lift off the throttle the sound disappears, but it immediately reappears when I get back on the throttle. Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this? Many thanks John
  13. Can I conclude from this that the flat flooring is done after the geometry is checked. When I had the flat flooring done I gave them the weight of my wife and myself as it's nearly always driven with two up. Can I also conclude by adjusting the right height also changes the camber setting. I've stopped taking part in track days now, but the car should have been setup for two people so the front tyre wear should be even. The driver's side tyre has no wear on the outside therefore should I adjust the ride height to correct this? Many thanks
  14. I am sure that they only adjusted the damper heights to change the corner weights when flat flooring the car. I don't see how this would alter the camber settings. There appears to be around 6mm difference between the wheels.
  15. Hi everyone I just fitted some new tyres to the 7 and I have noticed uneven wear on the front tyres. As a result, I had a good look at the front wheels and noticed they they appeared to have different camber settings. Furthermore, I put a spirit level between the rims and this confirmed my visual inspection. I had the car flat floored many years ago, but I don't see how this would change the camber setting. Can anyone confirm that flat flooring would not change the camber angles. Furthermore, can anyone confirm what the camber settings should be. Many thanks John
  16. I have just fitted the Nangkang's too and I am very happy with them.
  17. Very happy with my NS-2R having run AO 21's for twenty years. Think I made the right choice, though I think they will wear quickly if one does a lot of miles.
  18. Thanks, Redline have one in stock. John
  19. Caterham are out of stock of product code 71169 oil pressure senders. My car is a 1999 K-Series fitted with the Pace dry sump system. As a result, the thread needs to be M10. Anyone know where I might e able to locate one of these. Many thanks John
  20. Just replaced my A021's with Nankang NS-2R 185/60R14 and they are much quieter on the road. They have a B wet weather rating which is why I bought them. The 888' have an E wet weather rating.

    R888R v NS2R

56 I thought these would be the nearest to the A021's Nankang state that the NS-2R's are 50% track and road use and have great wet performance. They don't appear to offer different compounds. The A021's are definitely noisier than the Nankang's.

Hi Alastair I will only be using them on the roads therefore I will be not pushing them to hard. Interesting, 56 said they were not as good in the wet as the 888, which was a surprise when looking at the tyre information. The 2R's are rated B and the 888's are rated E. A being the best grip in the wet. I wonder if 56 was comparing them to the Nankang AR-1's John

Interesting on the wet weather use as the Nankang's 185/60 R14's have a B rating and the Toyo's have an E rating which is much poorer. This is why I went for the Nankang tyres.

Just changed my A021's to Nankang NS-2R's on 14" rims. I have not pushed them very hard yet, but they seem a lot quieter than the 21's. Initial feelings are promising as I have run 21's for nearly 20 years.
