  1. Hi foggy, I had exactly the same problem with my 1.8 Supersport that took me nearly a year to cure. The car was virtually impossible to drive slowly due to a constant misfire but ran fine when your foot was down. I changed virtually everything before I stumbled on the cause. The plugs, distributor cap, leads and rota we’re all replaced with no effect as were the water temperature sensor, the air temperature sensor and lambda sensor. Again with no effect. I reset the throttle position sensor several times and cleaned the idle speed air control valve twice, I also checked the ECU manifold pressure sensor all again with no effect. So with only the ECU and injectors to change, I took the cheapest option and replaced the idle speed air control valve and ureka success and the car has run beautifully ever since. This might not be your problem buts it’s worth a shot. Buy one from eBay for an MGF at about £10 from the people’s republic of China.
  2. Just re-read your post and happy to give £100.00. John Alston

  5. 64gb Kept in a cover since new and in perfect condition. Collection only from Woking area. £150.00
  6. Please never ever use a Dry Powder extinguisher on your car. They are the most messy products known to man, but most importantly, they use a modified form of Bicarbonate of Soda and as such is extremely corrosive to every thing it touches including aluminum and wiring. Indeed I have seen a Porsche engine nearly destroyed by the application of dry powder on a small petrol fire. A far better product would be a Foam Extinguisher containing AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) which is both cleaner and just as effective. However, it's a real shame they outlawed BCF extinguishers because here we are talking of real effectiveness and knock down power in fighting fires.
  7. It seems Ultimate Carbon are the most uncommunicative company ever as I waited ages for replies to my emails and indeed, never got one from them when I advised them of a change of delivery address. Even so, I have recently purchased two new rear wings from them and they eventually arrived safely and look quite good. They are not fitted as yet so I can't comment on that aspect. Ultimate Carbon seem to make good products but could learn a thing or two about running a company effectively and efficiently. Hope this helps
  8. Hi Simon, Can I have first refusal on set 3 please. I can confirm tomorrow evening. Many thanks John A

Try a HOLUX GPSport 245, I've had one for ages and am very impressed. It can be used in Car, Bike, Running and Walking mode. It is powered by a re-chargable battery and has a back light. It can also record your route and plot it out via your PC to show where you've been and what speeds you were doing at various points. I made a simple alloy mount for mine the utilises the centre poppers on the scuttle rather than use the bike mount supplied (which is on one of my bikes). Hope this helps, John A
  12. 2 or 3 years ago I had exactly the same problem and finished paying through the nose to get tyres supplied by George Polley fitted. I then by chance, met him at a club meeting at Brands Hatch where they had their tyre support vehicle and mentioned the difficulty of getting tyres fitted, if not supplied by the fitters. He said I should have made contact with them as they would have been happy to bring the tyres I had ordered with them and fit them there and then. I don't know if the offer is still valid but it may be worth a call to see the nearest event to you they support in 2015.
  13. A sticking righthand calliper piston would be my first guess.

I have a pair in perfect condition (no bulbs) for £50 John A
  17. Surely the best answer is not to straddle the speed hump with the wheels but to ensure at least one pair drive over the highest part of the hump. This will lift the whole side of the car increasing the clearance under the engine.
  18. Try Max Hurst at Lakeside Engineering, Woodham, Surrey Kt5 3TG 01932 34003 He is probably one of the most knowledgeable people on these and Twin Cam engines. In fact he is currently rebuilding one from a Jensen at the moment. A really great guy who will always find time to chat over your needs if you phone him. John A
  19. Have a look at the Holux GPSport 245. I use one and swap between both Bike and Seven. The speedo is superb the clock is a bit naff but overall I think its great. You can also download your routes, speed and altitude onto you PC or Mac
  20. This has always worked for me To re-sync the fob and immobiliser: Disconnect the car battery (regardless of the initial state of the immobiliser) Wait a few moments then reconnect the battery. Press the lock button four to eight times to re-sync. Then press the unlock button once. All should now be fine provided the fob battery is ok and you have held it near to the receiver antenna. John A
  21. UJ joint would be my first thought
  22. I too found metal on the magnetic gearbox plug, although mine were quite large flakes. It went to Road & Race for treatment and they said a shim had broken up hence the metal fragments.
