  1. Bought one from ebay and used it for some time on the garage roof in the same situation. It worked for a while but clearly wasn't weatherproof enough. In hindsight it probably would have been better to fit a battery cut-off switch and remove the drain. Jon
  2. Minis and small Rovers have an ideal jack. I picked up an ideal little one from a Rover breaker (from a Rover 200 I believe) for £5.
  3. Hi Dave, Welcome aboard! I also have a Crossflow Caterham in "Supersprint" spec. I'm sure others will be along shortly with much more detailed info but essentially the Supersprint was Caterham's attempt at cheaply tuning the Kent using standard 1300 pistons, twin 40 Webers and Kent 234 (I think) to up the power to 120-130 bhp (officially 135bhp). I think the Escorts were in a lower state of tune 84-100bhp or thereabouts). I've had no internal trouble with mine at all in 6 years of ownership (touch wood) but the 1300 pistons are widely considered to be a weak point. Given the car is now 18 years old there is of course a reasonable chance that your engine is not quite what it says on the tin and has been rebuilt with higher quality pistons at some stage. 4. Here is my old mini-guide: Here is my quick guide. I've had mine running for nearly 2 years now and it is a great upgrade, the car is so much more tractable and I suspect the fuel economy is somewhat better too. Jon 1) Megajolt boxed ECU ready built. I got this from Martin Millener, he is UK based and does an excellent job of building it up and supplying all the bits ready to go with very clear instructions and free advice. (martin@millener.com) Much easier than ordering from the states and often cheaper (they charge more for making it by the time you've added postage and possibly import duty than he does). Mine was about £90. 2) 36-1 Trigger Wheel for the front of the crank. I bought mine from a guy called Bill Shurvington for £20 but I don't think he does them anymore. These days, ebay, trigger-wheels.com or Weber Alpha bits. May also get Omex bits (possibly) from Vulcan Engineering. 3) Ford Crank Position Sensor. I bought a small neat looking one from ebay for £9. I think pretty much anyone (from Ford) will do but the bracket will need fabricating accordingly. 4) Crank Position Sensor Bracket. A friend of mine measured this up on a x-flow he had on his garage floor and had a couple of plates welded together to make it. The easier (but more expensive option than 2+3+4) is to buy the off the shelf bolt on Weber Alpha Trigger Wheel & Sensor pack. I found Southern Carbs give the best price on most Weber Alpha bits. 5) Throttle Position Sensor: I bought the Weber one (about £50) as it bolts straight on the DCOEs from Southern Carbs. There are cheaper solutions from trigger-wheels.com but lilely to be more fiddly / less relaible. If you get the Weber ojne make sure you ask them to chuck in the connectors. 6) EDIS 4 unit, Coil Pack and HT leads. These will come most cheaply from a 90's Ford 4 cylinder petrol scrapper. Otherwise ebay / trigger-wheels.com. If you want new HT leads, the best ones seem to come from a 1989 Ford Fiesta 1.1 Carb car. Make sure you get the EDIS plug connector and Coil Pack connector. 7) Distributor Blanking Plate. Best to take the Dizzy out and blank it off. www.mra-minis.co.uk do one for a A+ series mini engine for peanuts that fits perfectly with the old dizzy clamp. The easy option Weber Throttle position sensor (Page 31) and crank position sensor packs - replacing parts 2, 3 & 4 above (Page 71) are listed here http://www.tecno2.com/webroot/downloads/catalogo_webcon-weber.pdf Good luck! 5. If Carlsberg sold cars... Sadly I'm not Danish and I don't run a brewery 😬 Jon
  6. Lovely 2 Bed flat in Baiter Park, Poole. Perfect for the quay, town centre shops, restaurants & bars. Easy transport links to Bournemouth, Southampton & the West. Located a short walk from the harbours edge with views across Brownsea Island, the Purbeck Hills and the harbour itself. A fabulous place to live and enjoy harbour life! The flat has a bright open plan kitchen and living room, 2 bedrooms, bathroom, a communal garden, allocated parking & guest parking. Features include modern gas central heating, built in gas hob & electric fan oven, double glazing, fridge freezer and washing machine. The flat is served by Virgin cable offering the option of broadband at up to 50mb and cable TV. The place can be provided furnished as much or as little as you like. Available from February for £660 pcm. Blatmail me for pics, further details or to view. Jon
  7. Some x-flows have later Bosch distributors from later Ford Escorts / Fiestas which use a Fiat Strada cap I think. I have a spare side exit Bosch Valencia cap and leads (and dizzy) lying around if you're desperate. Could be the excuse you're looking for to go Megajolt though... Its much much better 😬 Jon 1994 1.7 Supersprint De-dion X-Flow. Yellow with black cycle wings - Now with Megajolt !

    Changing seats

Hi Chaz, When I fitted tillets to mine (1994 x-flow) I bought the rails from Caterham, these strengthen the mounting and provide the correcly spaced mounting holes. Otherwise chassis of this vintage are not really set up for tillets. Thanks again to Oliver Sedlacek for all the help (back in 2005 / 06?!) Jon p.s. should be able to take some under the car pics if you still want them. Edited by - New Cat on 3 Dec 2009 15:31:28
  9. After 2 years of fabulous trouble free motoring its time for something new. Lovely condition. Pics to follow. SPECIAL REDUCED BLATCHAT PRICE £11,995 Located: East Dorset Edited by - new cat on 13 Jan 2010 10:21:59
  10. The Tiptronic is the most relaible auto box in the Audi range and to be honest manual A6s (especially 3.0TDIs) would be tough to shift and command well below book in the trade. I'm not in the trade anymore so cannot comment professionally on the price but it certainly sounds fair (looking at comparables) and is a very fully loaded car. I suspect there is still some silly physciological issue with >100k miles. Good luck with the sale Jon
  11. Lovely cars, I sold a few of these. Is it a rare Manual? BTTT 😬
  12. I've just used an ebay firm (yescarparts) Leeds, Yorkshire based. The MGB535 M1144 (larger size best used with new discs, Triumph Dolomite fit) were £30.99 including p&p in the UK and the service was very good. Jon
  13. I have a pretty standard supersprint spec x-flow with a mpa that works well. Blatmail me your email address and I'll send it through. Jon
  14. Another quick note, Re: HT Leads. I recently went through every box in the local Halfords and found that the 1989 Ford Fiesta 1.1 Carb model ones were the perfect length / fit and cost only around £16 - prices are much higher elsewhere and the quality seems ok. Jon
  15. Yes Alex, that is the one. MRA will machine it to your precise requirements if you wish (they seem a great little company). Alternatively, we used the dizzy clamp to hold it in place. I can photograph this if needs be. Jon I must again thank Dave Gilbertson for my Megajolt conversion, he did all the hard work 😬
  16. I think it was an S-reg car. Don't think I've seen you about before. Jon
