Thanks for the enquiries. They were keen to sell and advertise to a wide audience hence the ebay ad. The car quickly sold (via ebay) with the auction being withdrawn. I highlighted it on here as it was a real bargain in my opinion given the condition and spec. Jon

They have a little baby, have bought a C-Max and just want rid. The reserve is £1200 and I believe they would hapily take that for a low hassle deal. I've not seen in recently but understand it is essentially sound and rust free, the only problem noted were slightly slow electric window motors. The car is based in Bournemouth if you'd like to take a look. Otherwise I could probably arrange to take through look and report back (busy week but should be possible). Am I not right in thinking that a pre-1998 (pre SVA) kit built car will only be subject to a visible smoke test irrespective of what engine you put in it 🤔 Sounds like a pre-1998 de-dion 1.4k or X-flow would be best for your purposes, the k benefitting from already having an injection fuel tank etc. Jon

These batteries appear to be a similar size and spec to the Red Tops/ Odesseys etc but around half the price. MDS Battery Please let me know your experience if you've used one! Thanks, Jon

Thanks guys, Paul YHM. I took the car for a shake down run on a local favourite road earlier and have to say I didn't notice any bump steer, just much more positive and feelsome steering! I wander whether the soft suspension on my car limits bump steer effects? We noticed yesterday that if we were to fit spacers there was not actually that much clearance through the holes in the body where the rack and its black plastic concertina seals exit... Had some very generous help fitting a new steering rack this afternoon (thanks again Dave!) and we found that without adjusting the angle of the universal joint somewhat the steering column fouled on the oil filter housing (on a x-flow). All sorted now and a great improvement on my very worn out 0% rack. When looking at Dave's x-flow 7 for comparison we found that his rack had been raised a little higher with some spacers. The current set up appears to work fine (albeit with a slight angle on the UJ), we were just wandering whether the spacers were fairly standard fit or just peculiar to Dave's car?
