  1. I've had mine camcoated..it does keep the system in better condition and, if you coat them from new, they'll re-coat the inside the next time you have it done. I had the whole system done..I think it was about 200...
  2. Thanks Roger..I've been playing golf for 2 days..I am indeed a Vx man.
  3. My Radtec's been great..but I made the mistake of buying the extreme because my car mainly does track or ring trips. Mistake ...Unless I'm thrashing it around Spa in the middle of the summer, I have to keep a third of it taped off because it over cools.

    discs

Ok..it seems that the front disc here here fits almost everything.. So I hope I am right to assume the new discs I have received today from PB (alcon) will fit your car. PB have a limited number of sets of new one piece discs by Alcon (80 quid each) or the new 2 piece items I have just bought for my car 120 quid each. pics of new discs can be seen here. I have put them on my car and they fit a treat. see pics of new discs herehere Gary

    discs

Ok...I have on my desk now, a new 10" disc from Alcon, supplied by performance braking. It's one of the new type they are doing with seperate bell and rotor...so I am assuming, they may have different offset bell's to suit different cars (If other caterham front vented discs are different to mine...mine are to suit 97 Vx)... He has std discs to suit my car at nearly half the price of CC so it may be worth a shot. PS the new type were not half the price, but they look twice as sexy! In the long run you can change the rotor only thus saving in the future.
  8. Have a on me..someone must be able to advise you Terry....have you owned the car from new?..If not, what about the previous owner?
  9. So Neil.... The stuff you linked to is for viscous type Diffs , Hypoid/bevels see above (also ie Suretrac).... But if Terry has a ZF type(like me) which uses plates and ramps he wants an oil like the Motul 90pa which I'm using... here for viscous diffs like suretrac use.. here Am I right here? edited to include correct link! 10. I've got one of the earlier Quaiffe Seq in my car...reliable...noisy...and great fun! I think the latest version in the R500 has a slightly higher torque/power rating but I'm not sure.
  11. Unless someone else comes along to say I'm wrong...I would say an EP90 gear oil, usually says suitable for LSD's on the 'tin', sometimes described as Hypoy (not sure what the difference is between EP90 and Hypoy) ...I use the Motul one now (keen on the brand!) but have used allsorts in the past..Castrol, Miller and Morris(!) Gary
  12. Rob, I will remember that offer thanks..but for now I'm going to buy a new set of discs. because the discs never look like wearing I've been a bit sloppy in not replacing them as part of a maintenance programme... I'll be calling PB first thing tommorrow....I've just used them for some new pads for the GT3...Pagid RS29's..they had the best prices even at 475 a set
  13. Thanks Roger?Alex...obviously not braking hard enough! Is that Peformance Braking at Monmouth? I was looking thru some old photosd on my PC last night and came across one of you and Alex from about 7/8 years ago..I'll have to send it on!
  14. This is the first time, in all the years of owning cars, i've ever had something like this happen...here... The discs are 10 years old and they've done a good few track days..so is this just a sign of them eventually giving up?...should I have replaced them sooner?...there's no tiny lip from excessive pad wear... Comments please... PS new ones from Caterham? or where else?
  15. Just to add.. Knowing Rob as I do..If he says it's 'tidy' you could probably enter it into a horsebox concours event!.. ...this guy is very choosy and it will, without doubt, have been very thoroughly checked over. How on earth did you end up with a horse box Rob? Gary
  16. Castrol (Super) Response
  17. Rupert, I've been down the same path...and apart from the Ali block, done every upgrade possible to my Vx. Inc a recent full re-build. I thought about the swop to Duratec as I was having it re-panelled, but I decided to stay true to the vehicle's heritage. Also, in going over to duratec, there was the issue of changing all the anciliaries etc and my costs were already running close to 20K I wasn't owning it to win races, and if a slightly better Duratec comes passed me at Spa....so what...weighing 517kg and with 265 horses under the bonnet that does not happen often anyway I think the Vx has a certain charm and from what I've seen they seem to be a bit more popular now than say, 4/5 years ago when the developed K's were all the rage. Good luck..
  18. Rupert, try scanning the archives as there has been quite a bit of discussion on these in the past. The particular version you are looking at I am told has been very reliable and provides some good weight loss. Gary
  19. Sorry Can't do linky's.. I've used these to good effect...Terminal extraction set... http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/terminalsnonins/mouldingterms.php
  20. My engine mount did the same..the vibration also cracked the alternator casing which mean't a new alternator aswell.
  21. Hi Steve, Where do i stand...I was one of the first on the original thread to say i'm interested and by the time I get back off hols I may have missed out ☹️ Can it be 11??? Regards Gary
  22. Were you tested at the barrier or as you came off? I had some problems a couple of years back but now I'm very quite (low revs) going thru the barrier and quiet coming off. (touches wood) I've been Ok since... Gary
  23. My Maguras were a bugger to bleed..felt spongy until i got them bled properly. Sounds like you may still have bubbles to me... gary
