  1. Ahh!.Ok, I maybe wrong then..call CC to check...good luck Dave... What colour is the R500?..always thought your green 7 looked great
  2. Dave, You could do this yourself by getting the instructions (i'm nowhere near mine, but someone will scan/send them for you)...simply drain the tank and then refill 2 litres at a time (From memory I think you get 15 calibration points to use) and simply record at each point referring to what you've put in (you'll see from the instructions it's dead easy)...this way you'll be able to choose your own reserve level etc..which is always a nice thing to know if your running low... I think I set my reserve warning at 4 litres above the minimum. I think it needed 2 litres in the bottom of the tank before the pump really picked up enough fuel to create any sort of fuel pressure. So my reserve really started at 6 litres. Did you not get a stack manual with the car?
  3. Hi I've just taken a call from a mate who has a CSR. He says that his gearstick does not feel right..about 2 inches of left to right movement whilst in gear...when not in gear it almost feels as though the lever is going to come out Could that be a problem with the immediate linkage or are we looking further into the box. I'm just trying to remember how the lever was attached to my old 6 speed...I currently have the quaife seq box so I've nothing here to compare.. Cheers Gary
  4. I managed to get My Ap's looking pretty good last year with a tooth brush and copious amounts of brakes cleaner. I then re-newed the seals and they looked good for about 2 laps of the ring!! Performance friction pads generate so much dust
  5. My first port of call would be a dodgy sender...however, I take it you have a std rad...I fitted a triple core rad sometime ago and in the colder weather it needs atleast 30% of it covered up to get it over 50 deg.
  6. Just incase you don't visit 'For Sale' that often, there is a rare Vx CC dry sump pan up for sale. Not stocked by CC anymore so well worth the investment...
  7. This is a bargain and it should be remembered that these are no longer stocked by CC..so if you catch a cat's eye as I did a couple of years back and you need a new sump you are stuffed and then it's a costly bill to swop to a pace system...
  8. Last time...before it goes in the paper...
  9. taking the engine out yourself really allows you to do some other TLC jobs whilst you are at it..you can check for wear on other parts and I can't see why a std crane won't do the job. I take the Vx lump out of my car..I always split the engine and gearbox in the car but it is helpfull to have a second pair of hands to steady the ship when it's all in the air...I can't see why an XF would be much different but I've never worked on one..
  10. Mavic send me an email on gary.gt3@googlemail.com and I'll send a pic of my old layout.....I had the battery up against the scuttle on the passenger side, the water bottle secured on the old battery bracket under the carbs...now I have no heater I've put the battery in the middle, extended my footwell slightly, and had a bespoke dry sump tank made which gives a bit of extra oil capacity over the SBD 4" tank but still fits in between my first header and the footwell.

Guy, what makes you say that? I've used the tigerseal and it seems pretty good stuff to me
  12. Renault alarms do not have a good reputation for reliability..my cousin works for a dealership...get it checked over if you can...otherwise seek help form a sleep therapist!
  13. sorry Mike..good luck with your sale.
  14. I agree Roger, I am of the same opinion but if we can't get hold of them then we're buggered! What about a bulk buy for us Vx lads who want to put a spare sump in the loft..maybe Titan will make a dozen, it could be something of interest in this climate... gary
  15. Paul, Good point but where are the scavenge pump pick up points compared to the CC version....does using the SBD one mean more re-plumbing?
  16. Demon Tweeks (call Dave) or Merlin motorsport....both will have them for next day delivery...
  17. Jules, I mentioned to Darren about checking the battery master switch...if he heard a click from the right hand side of the car, and he says, neither side of the ignition is live, is there something on the BMS which could be preventing things going live... Gary PS Edited to ask ...How's the family? Edited by - captain chaos on 13 Jan 2009 23:08:47
  18. I had the advantage of bumping into Guy (Nitron) whilst at the Ring (he was working on an M3GTR at the time)...he confirmed my springs were about right and gave me some base settings to play with...he told me not to touch the...( as write this I've forgotten but I have it written down at home)..one of the compression settings and work with the other and the rebound... It's a black art and I wish i could test it often enough to actually make some meaningful adjustments...
  19. Ok Tony, no problem and thanks anyway. I'll leave it on here for a bit longer ...
  20. Sorry to be hi-jacking here Alex... Vinnie, I'm on 300 front, 165 rear. I have the 3 way adjustable (more adjustment than I know what to do with , but I've had a bit of time at the Ring and a day at Donnington (Nov) but due to cold temps I wasn't able to really load the Dampers. However, compared to my Spax the car seems to be more stable in the turns but less so under braking. What do you look at if the car seems to' pivot a little', like the back feels skittish under hard braking? Freestyle ARBS front and back both at 30% from full soft... Gary
