  1. Thanks for that Jonathan, I had searched the archives but failed to find anything remotely relating to the problem! Appreciated
  2. Please could someone advise me as to what is the correct foam used to cushion/seal the heater (98 K-Series S3) from/to the bonnet? I have removed the old 10 x 10mm draft excluder type black foam as it was sadly passed it's best. However, the replacement I have obtained (same dimensions) now seems a tad too firm and the bonnet would sit proud and put stress on the toggle catches. I have now been told that the correct foam is self adhesive strip 25 x 6mm but 6mm thick seems a tad to low by my reckoning..... or am I missing something? Any advice gratefully received!

  10. Another for Oxted! I had one of mine repaired and refurbed following a chat with Oxted's Ed Marriott. Whilst mine was there it had what Ed called a "CDX mod" which was basically a couple of triangular plates welded to the base of the back rest to add strengthening. He also said the plastic back was replaced with a much thicker grade of plastic. All in all, I was delighted with the service. The only down side is the cost of getting it to them but I would have no hesitation in using their services again.

I can't see why they would be any different from my 98 S3. Many thanks for that, much appreciated!

  19. I did see that thread thread but mine appears to be at the top of the back rest as opposed to the seat rails. It's at the point where the seat bolster frame attaches to the back rest. Felt it give at the weekend 😔
  20. It would appear that the back rest support and side squab frame have parted company! I have searched the archives and found Oxted seem to be the preferred choice for refurb and repair. However I wondered if the removal of the leather upholstery is a DIY job or not? My thoughts are that if I can remove the leather etc myself then it should be fairly easy to get the parts welded together again, or do others know better? Am I being a tad ambitious and just send it to Oxted?
