    Selling

It's a while since I sold anything privately but these are specialist cars and have a narrower audience, as such I'm prepared to explore all avenues. Miles, your suggestion of contacting Millwood would be worth a call as that's where she came from originally. BigCol, very impressed with your "trick" and certainly worth remembering if I end up going down that route. Nobody has mentioned the various Facebook forums as yet, they worth a try as well or is there a dark side that the unwary can fall into?

Thank you both for your input. I'm in no rush to sell but have arrived at the decision that there is no point putting off the inevitable. I don't suppose it would do any harm to test the water at this stage and see what the response is like.

    Selling

After 17 years of ownership and much conscience struggling I've decided to sell my 98 1800 Roadsport. She's always been a high days and holidays car so not track biased at all. When is the general consensus of opinion, the optimum time to advertise and other than BC, anywhere else favoured? Thanks all
  4. Hi Ray, I've messaged you.
  5. I have the Low Flying magazine from May 2006 - September 2022 free to anyone who would like them. Obviously they are far too heavy to post so collection only from Warminster, Wiltshire. Anyone local (ish) that would like them? I have listed these before but no takers so anyone interested before they go to the tip?
  6. Free to collector (donation to prostate cancer at your discretion) all complete, all excellent/good condition. Far too heavy so unfortunately collection only from Warminster, Wiltshire.
  7. Alastair, from what you're saying my tyre requirements sound to be extremely similar to yours. I have run Toyo 888R's for a few years now and never had cause to complain. The increased grip (dry) is very noticeable and inspire confidence.
  8. Another on 14" Minilites with Toyo R888's GG compound on mine.
  9. Hi Malc, Obviously M12 x 1.5 but approx 34mm total length.
  10. Just noticed they're marked 12x1.5
  11. Hi Malc, I might be able to help you out but not 100% sure I have what you're looking for. I bought replacements from Chris at Redline years ago and the invoice tells me they were WHEEL NUT - FORD 12mm DOME (item code SN14). Obviously they're not mint condition but quite happy to send you one of the best if they're suitable?
  12. TomB, I ended up sticking the hose pipe down the upturned top radiator hose that comes off the water rail and that seemed to do the trick. Whilst I was in the midst of cleaning/flushing I removed the expansion tank which was looking decidedly grimy/stained and successfully cleaned it with a mixture of hot water/washing up liquid and dishwasher salt granules. Give the whole mix a damn good shake to agitate and you'll be surprised how clean it comes!
  13. So ideally we could do with Bluecol replying to ECR with their opinion.
  14. StevehS3, what year(s) does your handbook refer to? My K series car is 98 and my understanding is that Caterham only applied the recommendations from 2001 on.
  15. Good morning all, I have had a chat with Darren at Radtec as to why Blue and not Red. Apparently and this is their theory only but based on evidence of rads that have been returned, Red has been known to attack the braze used to attach the tubes to the header plate. They also have photographic evidence of red congealing within the rad. Having said that, Darren then explained that these faults only seem to appear with cars that spend long periods of time static (ie over winter). They haven't come across the same faults with blue but recommend a diluted ratio of 10-15% with de-ionised water. As regards the affect of blue v red on the k series engine, they have not heard of any problems using blue on any engine so tend to stick to blue.
  16. John & Steve, I have to speak to Radtec tomorrow so I’ll see if I can’t find out precisely why IAT is good and OAT is bad.
  17. But surely if IAT is suitable for the K series engine and ally rads is that not a better option all round?
  18. Have just come across this response discussing the use of Blue/Red anti freeze on another forum by a certain highly respected k series guru............. “OAT coolant was only specified for the K series after 2001 and this was more about restricting pollutants rather than any benefits endowed on the engine or cooling system efficiency. Polypropylene or Ethylene glycol based coolants are perfectly OK provided you don’t mix with OAT.” My car being 98 vintage it seems that “Blue” will not only satisfy Radtec’s requirements but more importantly, won’t harm my engine!
  19. I wonder, has the age of the vehicle have any bearing on IAT or OAT?
  20. When I spoke to Darren at Radtec he advised me to use blue IAT anti freeze diluted with de-ionised water in a ratio of 15 - 20% as this would avoid the corrosive crystals in red OAT based anti freeze. I have since read that Rover advised the use of OAT based anti freeze in the k series yet Rogers post seems to suggest that IAT is safe for all metals and would therefore seem to me to be the way to go in my case ............ or have I missed something?
  21. Having had a chat with Darren at Radtec I've ordered a shiny new one! Have to say, it was an absolute pleasure talking to the man and and his help and advice were both refreshing and welcome. Many thanks to all for their contribution to this post, appreciated
  22. Interesting, thanks for that.
  23. Have to admit I'm coming down in favour of either Radtec or Alicool. My understanding is that Radtec offer a 12 month warranty, I assume Alicool will be the same, unless anyone knows differently? Is it me or does the weld quality look smoother in the Alicool and is 45mm v 50mm core going to be significant?
  24. I have to agree with TomB and that is precisely what prompted the post in the first place. Are they all much the same or is there a technical element we should be aware of? I noted that Coolexperts are offering a 2 year guarantee if that's anything to go by.
