  1. Gorgeous colour It's all subjective of course, but the relief those words bring is considerable! That was definitely the hardest part and the choice was agonised over at length! What's still being agonised over is black or silver or ? for headlamps, windscreen (the surround before anybody lists the cons of matt black glass!) etc. SWMBO is adamant on black whilst I'm leaning towards silver - I sort of get the feeling (and it's nothing more) that the black-packing craze of 5 or 10 years ago has abated somewhat ...Ho hum - we shall see ... Pete, I'd urge you simply to drop in should you be passing - they're about half a mile west of Cowfold on the A272 (clearly signed). Adam
  2. Knowing what a nightmare/lottery it can be finding people to entrust jobs such as resprays to, I just thought I'd mention that I recently had a Seven resprayed at Xtreme Restorations in Cowfold, West Sussex. I'm very happy indeed with the work and manner in which it was carried out. They're three thoroughly pleasant chaps who willingly went the extra mile (e.g. at no extra cost protecting the underside of the wings to prevent star cracks on the surfaces, which hadn't even crossed my mind). The finish and attention to detail look excellent to my untutored eye and the job was finished when they said it would be at the price quoted. They came to me to look at the car prior to quoting (and they visited again when a mobile phone accident caused the loss of my number!). I'm not a user, but I understand they are some photographs of the Seven in their shop on Facebook ... And I suppose I ought to add that, other than being a satisfied customer, I'm nothing to do with the outfit (and it's too late to get a discount ...!). Adam
  3. I just need a Seven windscreen picking up from Rochester, ME1 3QX, before it's sent back to Glasgow (again!) so that I can pick it up from wherever when I've got a mite more time available to me (talking weeks not months). If anybody can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam 0781 007 3021
  4. Morning, May I have the Front Orange indicator lens set (wings and pods) £10 please. I'll blatmail you with address details etc. Thanks, Adam
  5. Hi Nigel, Thanks again for the further information. As for other problems with the installation, I haven't encountered anything too testing. The biggest headache so far has been the gearbox mount being in the wrong place. I don't know, but I think that this is because I was going from VX Classic to Zetec as opposed to the more well-trodden path of X-flow to Zetec. It was solved by making up a bracket effectively to move the gearbox mount forwards on the chassis by three inches. I then got the propshaft extended by the same amount and I'll also need to enlarge the bonnet hole a bit. Apart from that, touch wood, it's all been reasonably straightforward. Even the wiring, which I usually dread, was OK in the end ... I get the impression from your various posts that your project hasn't been without its challenges (that could well be understatement of the year!). I hope the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter ... Adam
  6. Nigel - thank you, that's helpful. My bellhousing is an Al alloy one from SPC so that will make life a little bit easier. Zetec, that's interesting about the Raceline bellhousings - I was misled slightly because the pictures on their website show Zetec-Type 9 bellhousings without the cutout but Duratec-Type 9 with the cutout. They are only pictures I suppose ... Thanks again.
  7. Thanks Jonathan - that looks like the very same issue, though both my gearboxes are Type 9s - the outgoing one is an uprated BGH one and the ingoing one is a standard one from a 2001 K Series Seven. Enlarging the hole in the bellhousing in an appropriate manner was my first thought, but a bit of measuring quickly showed that I'd need to stray outside the flat machined mating surface on the bellhousing and that doesn't seem ideal ...
  8. I'm in the process of switching gearboxes on a LA Zetec Seven. All was going swimmingly until I came to fit the bellhousing to the ingoing gearbox. The ingoing gearbox is here and the outgoing one is here - you can see my problem! The bellhousing just has a single circular hole. Just wondered if anybody had encountered this problem before and, if so, what the potential solutions are? Presumably a different bellhousing or swap the gearbox (it's a completely standard one). Out of interest, what's behind the lower circular plate/what's its function? I undid the bolts but it seemed reluctant to move and I decided not to force the issue ... 9. I recently removed mine - I don't see it as much of a deterrent, but that's only my opinion - physical removal was simple - just the two bolts you mention, and then there's obviously the wiring. I already had a starter button so that aspect of the ignition key function was already redundant. I ended up using the the heater fan switch (no longer required in my case) to switch the ignition on and off. I can't remember the details, but it was all fairly straight forward. Given the relatively large diameter of one or two of the wires into the ignition barrel, I did have concerns about current ratings for the switch, but assumed that anything significant is dealt with by relays and no problems so far (three months) ... And it's one fewer key to lose ...
  10. Blatmail sent. Many thanks indeed. Regards, Adam
  11. I'm re-attaching the front suspension to a LA car - needless to say, I didn't note the position of any washers and what have you and I'm struggling to find a LA assembly guide anywhere. The upper link is where I'm after some help. Starting at the front of the car, am I right in saying that the bolt passes through the following in this order: large washer headlamp bracket shock absorber top mount fore part of link mount top link aft part of link mount Nyloc ? Many thanks, Adam
  12. Apologies for the blatant opportunism, but I have a perspex/polycarbonate/whatever it is screen that I've been meaning to put up for sale. It's currently in the surround and the stanchions are also available. I'm in Horsham so not a million miles from you - let me know if you're interested. Regards, Adam
  13. I'm sure that Emerald would also be able to help. Regards, Adam

  15. 'Brand new in box' as they say, one of the much sought-after and prized 82°C mechanical thermostats and housing for a Duratec. The part no. is PR6595 (which rings a bell as the Cosworth part no. for the same part, but it's in a Ford box ...) £28 + P&P at cost or GONADS or collection from RH13. Please blatmail or call 0781 007 3021. Many thanks, Adam
  16. Two carbon effect cycle wings. One is in very good condition indeed (a few minute scuffs that one really has to hunt for) and the other is in not quite such good condition so I'm happy to sell them separately. £20 for the good one; £10 for the not so good one. Both + P&P at cost or GONADS or collection from RH13. Pictures here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here. Please blatmail or call 0781 007 3021. Many thanks, Adam Edited by - AdamQ on 27 May 2014 18:46:44

  20. Hi Martin, I'll take the aero filler kit if I may please. I'll blatmail you. Regards, Adam
  21. I bought one of these recently - haven't fitted it yet but it looks identical to the existing one: here. Adam
  22. If the Minilite is Ford PCD I'll take it if I may. Thanks, Adam
  23. I used the K series one - and if you want to fit it to the rear of the engine, simply cut out the nylon with a soldering iron (credit to Rob Walker for that tip) and fit it it backwards IYSWIM - plenty of K series TPSs in the scrapyards for £2-3 each in my experience ... Adam
  24. It's nothing whatsoever to do with me, but there appears to be a fairly good deal on Mintex MGB533M1144 pads here If it looks too good to be true it probably is, but I've ordered two sets (partly on the suspicion that at that price you only get two pads and not four!) - I shall report back when they arrive ... Regards, Adam
