    Titanium

I can't help with mild steel, but the physical properties for a commercially pure titanium alloy tube can be found here Hope that might be useful.
  2. Thanks Nifty. Having variously seen 3, 5, 7, 11 and 13 given as the number of times one has to press the pedal, I assume it has to be a prime number greater than 2. Coupling that with the fact that the road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom, I'm going to try 2147483647. I'll let you know if it works in a couple of years Adam
  3. Thanks John - irrefutable logic. However, I've read stuff on TechTalk about the ECUs 'learning' and people being told to reset the ECU as a possible cure for idling problems and what have you and that suggested to me that, even though the map couldn't be altered, some responses to 'engine conditions' could be 'relearnt'. Though maybe all the threads I read related to cars with Emeralds or whatever. Thanks again. Adam
  4. I don't know whether this is a numpty question or not, but I was just wondering under what circumstances one should reset the ECU? For example, I fitted some verniers yesterday and changed the timing significantly (particularly on the exhaust side) - does such a change prompt a reset of the ECU? I'd guess so, but since my abilities with things electrical reached their peak with adjusting points on an A series, I'm not sure I'm qualified to make such a guess. Adam
  5. Neil, I've been hemming and hawing since this thread started, but please could I now be added to the list of 'definites'. Thanks. Adam
  6. Lovely looking car. Were you off for roast beef somewhere or purely out for a drive? Adam T77 CAT
  7. Myles, Sorry to be a trouble-maker, but the links to the larger images appear to point to somewhere on your hard drive, e.g. file:///C:/DOCUME~1/Myles/LOCALS~1/Temp/FrontPageTempDir/wpe4.gif Adam
  8. Thanks Oily. I'll report on the dingo's kidneys in due course. Adam
  9. Dave, following our conversation just now, I'm after the lifts at TDC for a 1999 1800 cc 140 Roadsport. The car is standard in all respects, I believe. Many thanks for your help. Adam
  10. Many thanks to Dave and Myles - all this help is gratefully received. If the car was a quick as you chaps are at getting things done, I wouldn't have been asking these questions in the first place ❗ Adam Edited by - AdamQ on 27 Jan 2006 19:49:59
  11. Myles, Great, many thanks for your help - it's much appreciated. Adam
  12. Myles, you've prompted a couple of questions (I'm afraid): 1. I think I read somewhere that Oily's template for the mounts is available on his site, but I can't seem to find it - is my recollection of what I read wrong? 2. You mention in the description (very handy BTW) on your site a cam-locking tool - is this a specific tool or is it just any old thing that will do the job (e.g. a couple of wooden wedges or something along those lines (shock, horror!))? Adam
  13. I've been thinking of fitting some verniers and so was looking for some dial gauges - these here (I hope the link works) seem quite good value compared to the £15 to £20 I've seen mentioned on various threads. FWIW. Adam

    Q783 OOR

Terry, sounds like an excellent day - important to keep SWMBO happy ❗ I'd just done what felt like 200 miles round a golf course (close to 200 shots anyway ). I don't know where you are in West Sussex, but if you happen to see another one in the same colours around Henfield, chances are that it'll be my mother who's took over custody of my first Seven (Q417 KKL) a couple of months ago ❗ 🤔 Adam

    Sevenoaks yesterday evening.
  16. Jerry, thanks for the reply. I'll certainly let you know next time we're heading your way, and there definitely will be a next time as we enjoyed our visit very much. I don't blame you for steering clear of the moor on bank holidays - we left at 4.00 a.m. on Saturday for the same obvious reason. Unfortunately this meant we got there at about 9.00 and of course one can't have one's room until 2.00 p.m.; however, a pub in Princetown provided coffee, papers and cricket so all was well! Adam
  17. So near and yet so far from being spotted ☹️ - it wasn't me, but we were staying in Two Bridges from 27th to 31st August and I was amazed not to see another 7 all the time we were there. Great roads (apart from the sheep). Adam

    T691 TCF (?)

Not sure the drive-by you're referring to was me - I was in a muddy old fiesta ☹️, pining for the 7 and thinking up ways of getting my 92 year old grandmother into and out of the 7 so I don't have to drive a ford on days like yesterday. Some sort of hoist is required I think (no offence Grandma) - ideas invited.

Outside the Sussex Oak, near Blackham yesterday evening. Only just spotted it through the throng of admirers gathered round it.
