  4. 14.7 is stoichiometric for petrol ECU self-mapping purely based on an 'good' lambda value can never be a substitute for a rolling road session. It's also worth bearing in mind that the ECU is only ever going to be adjusting fuelling based on what the sensor is reporting. Having this sensor in a primary is ideal since it is able to react much faster and so is the ECU. Unfortunately though, unless you have a sensor in each primary, you're effectively adjusting fuelling for all 4 cylinders based on the output of only one. Having the sensor outside the car in the collector is arguably worse because not only does it react slower but it's in a colder environment and is seeing the sum of all exhaust emissions, which for a performance application is sub-optimal. 5. I'm not sure that painting what's a reflective surface to start with, with heat-reflective paint would achieve anything (or even if that's a desirable thing) Surely underneath you'd want it to absorb, rather than reflect engine bay heat, so painting it black would be preferable.. 7. Bought a while back and it's been sitting about unused so I thought it should go to another home. Scales tell me it weighs in at 6.0kg £150 delivered in the UK Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library Home of the long-term, supercharged Duratec project
  8. Good luck with that taffyracer I'm sourcing one at the moment - you may be hard pushed to find a better price than Quaife themselves and they're not renowned for their discounts ☹️ Given the lack of the competition in this price bracket and the fact their order books are pretty full, I suppose they can afford to keep their prices high. I'd echo what Steve said about the shift action. I took the opportunity to waggle the gearlever on John Howe's doorstop (sorry, gearbox) while it sat slowly gathering dust in his Pit Lane and the mechanism works extremely nicely and feels solid & refined. A fellow blatchatter has used one for over 2000 miles now including some continental travel and loves it. I won't be splurging on the pricey and chunky gearchange indicator option. I'll source the potentiometer seperately from Jenvey and hook it up to my dash directly. I notice Quaife also sell a recirculating oil pump for it, which fits neatly on what can be a mechanical speedo drive in the tail of the housing. Given the box is still *relatively* new and fairly pricey, I'm wondering if it's worth protecting my investment with one of these For a small extra outlay it may be worth it; I think it can only be beneficial but I'm just waiting on a second opinion at the moment. What I do know for a fact is that one of these boxes had it's oil boiled in a non-seven install where the exhaust passed close to the 'box. Obviously a significant contributing factor and not something that's relevant to the seven, but it the oil may run quite hot normally(more so on higher-output engines perhaps, where the geartrain is transmitting more power..?). Purely out of interest I'm putting some heat strips on my box/diff/brakes to see what temperatures they normally reach Edited to add:It might be worth checking what chassis you're installing it into. Earlier, narrow tunnel (non-central handbrake) chassis will require widening I believe - and I *think*, some earlier race chassis. I've seen some modifications to the lower tunnel chassis rails done and heard that Arch have even tried jacking a tunnel slightly wider to accomodate it. Later chassis (late 90s>) seem to be okay. Arch should know definitively. I've been told that if your gearbox mounting plate on the chassis is the 2-position type, the normally unused forward-position one needs cutting away to accomodate lower tail part of the 'box Hope this helps. Hi Thomas, Mark. I was lazy Thomas - I used whichever address is in your profile. To save you waiting until Saturday though, the jist of the message was that although I don't have any available (Sorry ☹️ ), I had some information on who might. It may be of no help, but given they don't come around very easily it might be useful. Mark, YHM Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library Home of the long-term, supercharged Duratec project
  10. Sadev, Tractive, Drenth and Elite can all provide well-proven rear-wheel drive sequentials. Sadev and Tractive are well proven in the rallying scene and Elite now have many track miles under their belt. Drenth I know of only by reputation - they're mentioned in the same breath as Sadev and Tractive and cost a similar amount (>£7k) but I must admit I don't know in which field they've built their reputation. Elite perhaps offer the the best value for money but are relative newcomers. Their boxes are comparatively light too. I think Quaife are the only manufacturer to offer semi-helical and helical gear options on their sequential boxes if that's important, although I should imagine Elite would build you a set to order if you asked. Seriously though.. Jacks are worth ten, kings are worth three. Apart from one eyed jacks which are wild cards. Round one you get a hand of nine, round two a hand of seven. Twos are wild cards. Apart from diamonds which retain their face value, except the king of diamonds, obviously. You play in sequence unless you can match a pair…or play a card in ascending or descending order. And that’s a Go, Johnny, Go, Go, Go, Go. You stand up, pick up all the cards on the table and shout “Go, Johnny, Go, Go, Go, Go!” The winner is the man with the most tricks after fifteen hands… Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library Home of the long-term, supercharged Duratec project

  21. I'm sure that with high-tensile bolts, you're safe to re-use them with new threadlock. That said I've always played it safe and replaced them anyway. From the posts I've read, most seem to replace them for good measure. If ordering from CC, the ones you'll want arethese Hope that helps. 22. They've been replaced by high-tensile caphead bolts now. The 'blue' was just a threadlock coating. Now we're responsible for doing the threadlocking ourselves Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library Home of the long-term, supercharged Duratec project

  25. That was quick To be honest I'm not sure ric; I bought it from a fellow blatchatter a few years ago and never used it. I'm assuming you move the lever once the system is pressurised and that it'll then hold that pressure until the lever's returned, but I can check for you Darren E K80 RUM Website and Emerald maps library Home of the long-term, supercharged Duratec project
