When I replaced mine (Raceline Zetec) last year, they too were of different types. Like you I was confused. IIRC the set I bought from Ford, i.e. geniune Motocraft,were also mixed; and checking with another Zetec owner, he also had mixed type. I'll check what I had but won't get to my garage for a day or few. A word of warning re. Burton. Put your order in writing. They messed up a 'phone order of mine and flatly refused to accept their mistake; practically calling me a liar. I was left out of pocket to rectify. Almost forgot, buying direct from Ford / Motorcraft were the cheapest I found. z7

Not sure how useful but once on track mine felt like it was hitting the rev limiter at half revs. It turned out to be an inner piece of the Pipercross filter socks came loose and was blocking the carb intakes. Not your setup but check no air intake blockages. z7

Cheers guys, I thought some were running somthing other than standard, and was curious to know. But good to know stock items are being used. Indeed, when I asked a 7 Zetec specialist about it years ago his answer was: Ford have spent millions devloping the engine, their 'plugs are probably therefore the best to use. Chris, I know you document your 7 well; if you have the NGK part no., would you let me have it please? I spoke to Chris at Raceline but he couldn't recall it off the top of his head; and the look-up book at Halfords leaves me doubtful I've bought the corrrect ones. Here's an interesting, and worrying find. When I removed all the 'plugs today, they were all Motocraft but two were AYFS 22P1 and two were AYFS 22PG1. I've been running these for years ❗ Web searching brought up almost nothing for them. *confused* cheers z7

I haven't had much joy with my Poor running, and idle, though, tbh, I haven't had much time to give it. Anyway, I'm also considering checking and/or replacing the sparkplugs and HT leads. They're over 6 years old so possibly overdue. What plugs and leads do you use 🤔 I'm running a standard unmolested 2ltr (Raceline) unit. Cheers z7

Thanks all for the replies Zetec, yes, I do have a TP, I hadn't thought of that I'll check it too. MOCACV - I'm pretty sure I had more an half a tank. And I haven't had the problem on low fuel in the past but I'll listen for the whosh. :) It looks like balancing is the place to start. Always start with the basics. Cheers z7

I have a Zetec on carbs. Recently (months not weeks) I've been getting more popping and banging which I figured is the carbs needing some attention. What exactly, I don't know. However, when I was driving this week (in town not blatting) when I pulled up at lights, after approx 25mins on the road, the revs started to drop such that I had to keep using the throttle to prevent it dying completely. I pulled to the side of the road and sat repeatedly pressing the throttle to keep the revs up while I pondered. After a short while it would idle but then if I touched the throttle, the revs started to die again. After leaving her to idle for a few more mins, it seem to get better. Still not running right but enough to turn around and head home. Anyone have any clues on the cause, please 🤔 My feeling is it's fuel related but I'm no expert. Thanks z7

Hi Eugene, Thanks for posting your results. It always good to know how things turn out. In the early days of my (standard) Zetec 7 ownership, having heard such discussions in the Club, I asked a well respected 7 specialist what he recommended. He said (paraphrasing obviously) Ford had spent a fortune developing the engine, the plugs they chose were probably the ones to use.
