Yep, sounds like me. Setting off to Burton Power to finally sort my clutch cable. Adil
  2. I need to order a clutch cable for my type-9 / Zetec but I'm not sure what I should be asking my local motor factor for. Can anyone help please? Thanks Adil Edited by - adil on 1 Oct 2010 13:21:23
  3. Paul, I don't go fast enough to build up enough wind pressure. 😬 But actually, it rattles a lot when idling, and it makes it sound like a kit car. Thanks again for all the replies.
  4. Thanks all moc2cv - true but I was thinking more along the lines of splitting the gf so ruining it. Adil
  5. I want to replace the Dzus fasteners on the bottom of my nosecone.I need to drill the nosecone but am concerned about cracking or damaging the nosecone. Anyone have any tips, please? Should I put tape on the nosecone before drilling? Does it matter wether I drill from the painted or other side? Any particular type of drill bit? I only have metal and masonary bits - I don't think masonary is good but would the metal ones be ok? Thanks Adil
  6. Update: It seems this was down to worn/dry top wishbone rod ends. Now feels "taught" again.
  7. Edited to add: I need to use it in my rented garage, which has no power. Edited by - Adil on 28 Apr 2010 16:58:19
  8. Hmm, it's a hung vote so far Thanks for your replies. Hijacking my own thread: Petrolhead, what switches have you got on your steering wheel, and are they weatherproof? /hijack Adil
  9. Does anyone have any experience of these 🤔 I bought a battery powered one at the weekend in a hurry but it's not really up to the job. Cheers Adil
  10. Hi Barry, Would you add the name of the thread creator in the results of the search function, please? Hope you're well. Thanks Adil

    Fuel pump

Thanks, Andy. I may use one of those, too. I've had a number of (mostly Facet) pump failures. I'm hoping the move to the rear will fix this problem for me. Cheers, Adil

    Fuel pump

Thanks for all the replies. Though mentioned above, for completeness: it's a 1999/2000 chassis, live axle, with Zetec, and 45 DCOEs. It was a CDK (?) order, with the engine sourced separately. So, I don't know what loom may have been specified. I'm guessing X/flow Andy, what pump did you use to replace your Facet?

    Fuel pump

Hi all, I want to move my Facet cylindrical fuel pump from the engine bay to the rear, near the fuel tank. It looks fairly straightforward but a few queries: 1 - the biggest issue I think will be getting the electrical connection to the rear. Is there a supply already at the rear that I could use? 2 - I have a Filter King fuel regulator like here. I think I read that it is better to leave this positioned close to the carbs. Is this correct? 3 - does anyone have any photo's of their installation? 4 - any other issues I should consider? TIA. Adil Edited by - adil on 24 Mar 2010 22:38:49

    Changing seats

Willie, do you have any photo's of the bracket, please? Cheers, Adil Edited by - Adil on 27 Dec 2009 20:03:33
  15. Thanks guys Hopefully, I'll get a chance to have a look at it tomorrow. Cheers, Adil
  16. Paul - my feeling is that fitting to the chassis is stronger. Even compared to the thicker, strengthened floor. Admittedly, I'm not a mechanical engineer. Also, someone has said they have had to trim the nuts to avoid them grounding out, especially at Paddock Hill with a passenger. Cheers
  17. Hi - I have an intermittent reverse light on my "standard" Ford 5spd box. Normally, it comes on as soon as I move the gear lever over, so I'm assuming, and IIRC, the switch is located at or near the gear lever. Can someone confirm it's location, please? Thanks Adil
  18. Yeah, but as I said, I've already got these seats. And even if my 🙆🏻 was better padded, I'd still want the Tillet fixed to the chassis. 😬
  19. I want to fit a lowered floor (on the driver's side). However, I have some older type leather seats which fit to the chassis rails. Has anyone modified or devised a way to still fit the seats to the chassis with the lowered floor? I don't want to fit the seats to the floor itself. Thanks Adil
  20. Selling on behalf of a friend. Looks like this here XXL size, worn twice, looking for £100. Thanks Adil
  21. Brent, I'm running 21's again, and it's not tramlining I'm feeling. (I had that with the 48's.) I should be seeing Richard tomorrow and will speak with him about it. Cheers, p.s. sorry the reply is brief - somehow I managed to clear my previous reply! but now I have to do some work.
  22. Yesterday morning, in Elmers End. Adil
  23. Nothing is too obvious for me. I haven't always had the problem nor has it come on suddenly. I'll check everything is tightened correctly - I'll need to find the torque settings. And then check the wheel alignments. I'll see how that feels and let you know, or come back for more help. Richard, thanks for the offer. I'll get in touch if needed. Thanks all Adil
  24. Thanks for all the suggestions. OK, after a further drive yesterday, I now don't think the issue is at the rear. While the problem has been more pronounced on turning, it is also apparent during straightline driving when the road surface isn't good. The feeling I'm getting through the steering wheel is that the front is moving slightly even with no input from me. It's slightly twitchy. As if the front wheels aren't so directly attached to the steering wheel, IYSWIM. I don't have confidence that if I keep the s/wheel steady that the front won't move, albeit slightly, if the road surface isn't good. Thanks again for any help / suggestions. Adil
